Indeed I agree with you. I wasn't aware that it didn't have a valid nct. However by dgt's estimation that jag shouldn't be posted in here either.

Don't be twisting my words to suit another purpose

A good bargain until proven otherwise. The Jag was advertised with no faults. A poster rang and found out it has faults.

Were any faults spotted in the pictures? Did the description say there were faults?

    Headliner?Cosmetic
New light, sure a bulb doesnt count as a "fault"
You don't go to a mechanic to change a bulb do ya?

Funny part is I'd break it in no time. Find that annoying? Annoyed I detest such bland and utter, utter crap? Take off the rose tints for a second and see that there are people that don't like these cars. Especially me. Just accept it ;)

Now stop with the hissy fit and kitty claws, it's embarrassing at this stage

The op mentions it needed a headlight replacing which is a bit more than a bulb. Also no I don't need to go to a mechanic to change a bulb but many do and many more should. The amount of cars I pass by night with ill fitting headlight bulbs is shocking.

And any car here has the right to be here provided no obvious faults like a missing window or not bothering to check if it's NCT'd or not.

The problem lies in that 2 vehicles were posted, both with faults. Pointed out, not happy. Now here we are. Wow

I have said before, there is no shame in admitting they weren't supposed to be here. Bigger man to do so. But no. Have a go at the person who pointed it out just because they don't like said brand. Poor form, very poor

Different strokes different folks. I don't particularly care what others think, the more hate the better if I'm honest

    Think what you like ;)

But if I may be so rude to ask, what has my choice of car got to do with bangernomics?

Sorry I'll have to correct you there. I drove his 406 and I was expecting it to be very laggy but it's just not the case. I have never been in a diesel with such a linear power curve. It just pulls and pulls and pulls from about 1500 rpm all the way to the red line.

Make sure you have driven a car before you comment on how it drives ;)

Some people take things too seriously. And now were here talking about it :p

All I want to do is post some bangers up, discuss bangers etc. It wasn't going mad, going mad all would know about it.... ;)

My point was that the NCT should have been checked. Lack of mentioning NCT would lead me to dismiss it. Surely there are other examples out there with an NCT.....! Maybe a bit more maybe a bit less but that piece of paper is a requirement for this thread

Also why have a go at me? What have I done to you?

maybe if you know what lag is you might be understanding.
pulling from certain revs all the way to redline etc etc does not mean lag not present.

Right lads we are all friends here so lets get back to bangers.
    I always like carinas
    http://cars.donedeal.ie/cars-for-sale/toyota-carina-tested/5493489

A former rugby trainer of mine had one with 200K miles on the clock. He said that he was sick of it and when anything broke he would get rid of it. At 250K nothing had broke and he just got rid of it.

Good we cleared that up :)

No reason for me to have a go at another poster, just point out a missing requirement and voice my opinion :)

OK then, let me re-phraes that. Between 1500rpm and the redline (whatever it is, 5k?) throttle response is nigh on instantaneous. Yes there is a small amount of lag but nothing compared to my dads Insignia and a little bit more than my mums Ceed.

Well you're clearly going to pick holes in everything I say so I'll leave it at this. The 406 started with less power than both of my parents cars, thanks to the work that dgt has done it'll now easily out preform both of them while still having excellent drivability. I hope that clears it up for you :)

But sure that is not what you originally said. It was found that the jag did in fact have 500-650 worth of faults. Does it deserve to be here now?

dude, I couldn't give a toss weather you like the said brand or not. I had a go at no one. I acknowledged that the avensis didn't belong in here and subsequently posted it in the fixer-upper thread.
    JohnBoy26 wrote: »
I wasn't aware that it hadn't a test that's why I said ''no mention of nct''. No that you have so kindly made me aware of it having no nct I will go and post it in the fixer-upper thread:)

I did however defend my reasoning for posting the mazda. It meets the criteria originally set out on page 1. It mentiones nothing about faults there.

Modnote - Thread moved to new thread because the other one was near 10k posts.

    Last few entries copied over.

    Bangeromics rules:
    Under €2000
    Valid NCT
    Something you'd actually drive yourself
    VRT paid
A fault as small and as cheap to fix as that window should not exclude it from bangernomics.

Anyway that's me done with this. If you have any further issues you wish to discuss you can pm me. Apologies to the other posters in here for my part in the derailment of this thread.

    Facepalm_227785.jpg

Did you know when the Jag was posted up if it had faults or not. Yes or no. Simple answer: nobody here did. Therefore it belonged here until proven otherwise. Which it has been, now would make a good fixerupper. Simple logic there

Moving onto the Mazda, it has a glaring fault of a missing window. A missing window. It is extra expense on the purchase of the vehicle. It's very clean otherwise. However it is a fixerupper too.

I think the thread needs some extra clarification on what is for this thread and what's for the other thread. To me, a missing window is something that would warrant it t be posted in the other thread

    Do you understand me?
