Just click compare on the Argos website

no guarantee that specs are correct
The spec on amazon says 200hz for the 654
    Checkargos.com has zero stock

Any techie heads tell me which is the better model and why?

This Side by side says there's nothing in the difference other than the stand.
    That's usually the way.

They're both 42" Sony W6 Models. W65x = both have WiFi built in the last digit is usually a style number.
Also I can't find any in stock, do Argos still advertise even though non availble cause they are due in etc ?

Sometimes they're 'hangover'posts remnants of stock that they think they have, place an order if you're interested, it'll either be cancelled or you'll have a great new TV

Second one is way better, can connect to your wifi from anywhere in the house with inbuilt wifi, also has Ethernet connector to plug straight into your broadband router.

So you can probably stream netflix eye from it, future proof.

Plus 60hz on the one on the left ,200hz on the one on the right !

653 seems higher spec, but no need to worry as neither are in stock anywhere.
They may have had a few, gone now, probably clearance for new lines

The two are the exact same from what I can make out. The only difference is silver or black. I have one reserved in tullamore so gonna head down tomorrow, one Christmas present sorted. Thanks OP

Was able to reserve for collection in store next Thursday to Saturday.

We'll see what happens. Don't really need it truth be told. But a bargain is a bargain!

    Hi
653 has black frame and 654 has Silver frame. That is the only difference. Bought the black model a month ago and paid 700 Euros with 5 year warranty. Brilliant picture and excellent price. Go for it mate

This is a fantastic deal! Both 653 and 654 have exactly the same specs, just different colours.

On checkargos? that means that you can reserve it, but its not currently in stock. Normally takes about a week for them to have it in the store. When you reserve it it will say available for collection from sucha sucha date

Is the lack of hdmi connections not off-putting? Plus, does it have usb media playback?

I have the 654 reserved in Tullamore. It was the last one in Ireland according to check argos at the time. Has to be collected by closing time Monday. I'm gonna take a gamble that I can get the 653 in swords on Wednesday at the same price. It's there for u agueroooo if u want it seeing as your the op and cant get one, otherwise first person to reply here can have it.

So in other words this needs to be paid for by Tuesday even though it will only be in stock after that?

I don't know if they would accept payment before collection?
Last year an Argos manager told me that the price you reserve at, is the price you pay, that was in Longford store.

That's what I would have thought. I have ordered in Castlebar but collection is not til the 18th. Says in the small print about the 15th though. May just pop in later and find out for sure

If I were in your shoes I would check, just to be doubly sure. I'm sure I have read somewhere that the price you pay for items that can be ordered is the price at collection

What about trying to get Curry's to beat the price? Argos.ie is listed as one of the online sites they will beat by 10%? http://www.currys.ie/content/Instore-Price-Promise/926?utm_source=Banner15&utm_medium=HomepageBanner&utm_campaign=FooterBanner15
