Got an email offer telling me I can go from Trial to Launch package. The only option I was given was the €80 a month pack. Then I go looking and see this page:

    http://www.upc.ie/deals/tvbroadbandphone/

New users only pay €50 per month (for 6 months). Don't trial members get any of that action? And why can't I pick and choose the levels of each service? None of these packs have exactly what I want.

I got credited €90 for my trial, though I had to ask.

Does anyone know if they you can reset the broadband connection from anywhere in the set up menu in 192.168.192.1.

This was a handy feature in the "old" cisco modems but I cant see it anywhere. thanks!

Disco girl, were you on the trial? Have you stayed on the trial package or did you move to the "live" packages?

I moved from the trial package to the Live package as it was €8.50 cheaper and bb went from 100 to 150meg.

I'm trying to decide whether to go back to my previous package, or stick with Horizon. It really isn't great system and the UI is still ridiculously slow.
The trial package and "live" package have the exact same name. I've only just realised that it's not the same package at all and as you say derekeire, it's 8.50 cheaper at 80/month.
Also as a new customer, you can avail of the 50/month package for 6 months. I've yet to decide whether it's worth the hassle of cancelling and signing up in another name for the 180 EUR saving. I tried to get a rep to see reason and just give me the 50/month promotion but they are insisting that I cancel, have someone collect the horizon box and another engineer pay a visit to install a different Horizon box. Seems daft.

Also, I've been told there is no loyalty discounts for any of the Horizon packages. Anyone had any luck with a discount?

There is a new software update
I have been asked to test the update
before it's put on general release
It's improvement in regards to recording

I will sort this out tomorrow
I will let you know what the changes are

Check your emails as they have sent out to others

I've been on the Horizon Trial since May. I'm now subscribed to Horizon. The problem is that I've never been able to connect to the Horizon Box via Ethernet, just via wireless. When I plug the Ethernet cable into my computer it doesn't even recognize that it's connected to a network. Has anyone else experienced this? Do I need to configure any settings to connect to my box via Ethernet.

The main reason is that I upgraded my package today from 50mb to 100mb and want to do an accurate speed test.

    Any suggestions?

I would suggest You try a newer Ethernet cable ( I dont know how to check the grade of the cable) But I has a service a few weeks ago and the technician said My cable was quite old and gave he a new one from the van.

Just tried a different cable and it worked. Im not stupid when it comes to tech stuff by any stretch of the imagination but trying that didn't even cross my mind haha.

Thanks...I was prepared to fight with UPC for a new box.

I'm on a month to month at the moment and wasn't offered any loyalty discount to stick with Horizon. The launch bundle offered is only 50 cent cheaper and I loose my Anytime World on phone but gain 100mb bb from 50mb. I'm very tempted to leave Horizon - sound drops on both recordings of Homeland

Had technician out yesterday to look at H box and he said there would be a new software patch next week due to known issue with sound on recordings.

Hi Mauricio High Racism, nope wasn't on the trial package, had them for bb and phone so decided to get the horizon box, it was terrible, had to sit on top of the box to change channels and it took forever to do anything. UPC sent me a new controller, same issue....

They sent a tech out and it was a faulty box, replaced it and it's worked great since except for the loss of sound on some recordings.

Where you with UPC before? I was with them for bb and phone and was sent an offer in the post for horizon, I get the Horizon Complete bundle with €20 off for three months..so there are some discounts out there!

Just received a text from UPC saying that my HD channels will be no longer free from next Monday, I was never told this was only free for a few months, disgraceful

Is the new update only to sort out the recording issue?
I sincerely hope its gonna sort out the laboriously slow, laggy, virtually unusable GUI

    Fingers crossed.

Change to one of the Horizon packages, youll probably pay the same as now, or possibly less.

@Paul Jaeziz if they think they fixed all those issues with update H2 they're off their heads.

This is about new future updates not the one were all using now
There is already a new firmware due in a few weeks to fix recording problems
There will also be futher updates to resolve other problems

My understanding is that the H2 update has been in use already for a few months. I read it came out at roughly the same time as the new remote.

H2 Update involves a range of future updates
We in Ireland had it even before they got it officially in Holland
The Test stage was us in Ireland testing H2

Next 2 weeks next stage H2 update is to resolve recording problems
Some customers got asked to test this update before general release of new firmware

New firmware releases will be released to fix certain problems not all at the same time

You will see more firmware being released over coming months and more next year

Ah i see. They better hurry up with them updates or else im gonna sit on my couch.

    Lol
I know there are still problems but at least they will get fixed and also new features will be released
Netflix also in discussion with liberty global for Netflix app

Users in Ireland now are getting the updates to test before users in Holland as we as users in Ireland have being giving better feedback

They will release firmware to fix problems users in Ireland have reported
You wont see one firmware to fix all
You will see at different stages a separate firmware to resolve a pacific problem

This now happening with next release solve recording problem

Next one will be another problem
    At least they are listening
I know it don't look as if they are listening but we can and will see these problems fixed and also see future new features

    Edit
In time we all will have better Horizon Box in operation its just that its takes time and best way is to have customers give back the feedback
I myself just as other users have been annoyed by problems
Next year you can expect and will notice horizon will be better

The wifi performance is the most important problem they need to fix in my opinion I rather see that sorted than have Netflix app

Oh man im glad to hear that they will at least possibly fix all the glaring issues, cause there was no question of it ever happening with the old upc.
I must admit when i saw there is a "check for software updates" option i was hopeful.
I heard about the recording update so fair play, just keep em comin lads

    :)

Paul, have you been trialing the new update or has it gone onto the box yet?

Next for Horizon is also a companion box, that pairs with the gateway. The new box only need electricity, it’s a Wi-Fi box that streams TV, PVR, VOD and home content to any room and TV in the house. “It will extend Horizon beyond the living room.”

    Now you're suckin' Diesel, Betsy!

I think they need to iron out the present issues before lavishing us with more stuff that only half works.
If the new companion box sorts out the present wifi issues that will be a welcome addition.

I got the email sent to me while back to test new firmware but I did not notice the email as I have been working a lot last 2 months
I only tried the other day to tell them I want to test it and when I went to sign up to test it they already had reached there quota for testers

So I cant tell you on this occasion any problems or fixes it has
I'm sure you will see from some other users over next 2 weeks there feedback on this thread and also on upc thread

I too just got that email ref free HD ending so why not accept new offer....

Moving to Select Extra TV from what was called 'Select', going from 50Mb unlimited to 100Mb unlimited (I see the 50Mb Horizon is now capped at 10Gb) and home phone + 400 mins intl...

Having to pay 50 cents less....

(introducing the cap on 50Mb is sneaky)

Hopefully it will also have a wired Ethernet option, not everyone's WiFi will be reliable enough to push video over it.
