You can't sneer a bmw when you drive an alfa :p

    As it goes;

Good grip, good wear, cheap. Pick any two :)

Can't say I've ever used better tyres than the Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetrics. They'd still be on the car if my tracking didn't ayte them!

Depends on the alfa and bmw in question.
I will sneer at any 4 pot bmw!

Strangely enough you're not the first to say that:)

On looks I can, I'm not a bmw fan, looks wise (i like the touring ones tho)
I want good grip, good wear and a slightly softer ride, i've no problem paying for them, bridgestones aint exactly triangles.

Hankooks have been mentioned to me aswell as having a softer sidewall, but I'm not sure they are on par with the bridgestones for grip.
Did you find the goodyears pliant? What do you use now, because the 159 eats the inside of the front tyres.

Although a friend of mine has a 159, now it's given nothing but trouble is a Damn good looking car :)

    Alfa sz is much nicer!
    75 was a great car with a v6. The 3.0 l came with LSD as well!:D
Rear wheel drive as well and rear mounted gearbox for excellent handling.

You won't find anything on par with the goodyears for grip. They're better than bridgestones, contis, dunlops.... I've tested!

Hankooks are in the same price range, for an extra few quid I'd go for whats best.

I've Potenza RE050A's on the front, and Dunlop SP01's on the rear at the minute. Reason I don't have Goodyears is my local place didn't have them in stock on the day, and gave me the Dunlops for the same price.

There's a big difference between the grip of the potenzas and the goodyears, not so much a difference between the Dunlops and the goodyears, but the goodyears are better and cheaper.

Except for one of the straps that hold in the diesel tank pulling out of the floor:eek: mine has been pretty good.
I have had problems (see tyre problem ;) ) but they are not what you would call 'alfa' problems:D
I.e a brake calliper piston siezed.

Thanks for that, I was told the goodyears were a good bit dearer:confused:

I had Pirelli P Zero Rosso's all around before and I thought they were awesome!
I had Dunlops etc since and they didn't feel as good.
Although the Pirellis burned of in no time!

Does anyone have a buyers guide for a 2008 Leon FR? Or know anything about them they might like to pass my way?

Seems you're looking at something new everyday!

Everything is as per a Golf GTI tbh. The interior isn't as nice but tightly screwed together. Many had dsg so make sure that's had a fluid change every 40k. Would need to be cheap though, know someone who sold an 07 last year for 7k and it was a minter. No one seems to want them secondhand.

Also the doors ding like a baxtard if you're not careful where you park and the rides back breaking in the FRs - cupra is actually smoother.

There was a thread on alfa owner somewhere about the 159 tyre cure

Oh yeah I know I'm not turning this into an I'm better battle! Bmw is shocking for the most part :)
But my old m57 is good enough except for my swirl flaps (gone) and turbo ( going :()

I think one of mine is on the way out too. There has been an ever increasing whine the past few days.

Ffs Guys, I was only talking about looks! In general I dont like Bmws
(i will however admit that MM's looks pretty good :o )
I like the e30, the 6 series and the 8, i also think the touring ones look alot better than the saloons.

They are fine cars and I like driving them, ok?

I dont like silver cars either, but I'm sure there are lots of silver cars out there better than mine;)

Wait until you hear mine at the meet! What I can't understand is there is no real play on either end and no damage to the blades either!
I'm living with the fact is it'll be great for a long time after I do it :)
