I just observe what other people do. Ireland will be consumed by crime because it's fostered a welfare system that's completely unsustainable.

I have no long term plans to remain in the country but If I did get a cushy number with the government, I'd obviously stay.

Get out before someone reports you. There are a lot more people out there these days willing to report welfare fraud.

I don't think the welfare system is completely unsustainable otherwise all payments would have to be abolished. But it is not fully sustainable and the very unpopular government decision to reduce Child Benefit and abolish the extra week at Christmas for pensioners has made it a bit more sustainable. And something else which may be easily overlooked. There has been no increase in most pensions etc since 2010 which in effect is a cut and I don't see much prospect of any increase soon. Mind you they are much better off comparatively than cushy number government workers who are on a pay freeze since August 2008 and who took big pay cuts as well.

There are either a **** load of Civil Service pensioners or, more likely, we're funding a fairly jet set lifestyle for a certain number of ex Civil Servants who got out when the time was right.

Are you allowing for the fact that almost all retired civil servants do not receive old age pension, but have a larger civil service pension by that amount? Probably not, most discussion on these matters do not bother with relevant details.

Bankers in collusion with politicians raped the country and you think I'm a fraudster?

A Fish Rots from the Head down.

I have watched too many people work hard in this country and end up with nothing while at the same time watch so many others do as little as possible, yet end up with a better standard of living...I can't accept I'm a fraudster because that would mean the whole country is full of fraudsters, wouldn't it?

The system was setup by wealthy for their own purposes and I'm not going to assimilate anymore.

They view people that work hard and be honest as fools because that's not how they operate.

You don't get rewarded for honesty and hard work in Ireland, quite the opposite.

What country are you going to? You better check out their welfare system to see if you can claim if you decided to retire early again.

If keep increasing your income, you get more and more tax on it. Something which Labour or SF struggle to get their head around(We have one of the most fair income tax systems in the World). But according to SF and Labour the last few budgets have been an attack on the Poor, when in reality its been a **** load of taxes on the few in society who work hard and pay a lot of tax

67% of income tax is paid by the top 10% in society, while 50% of income earners pay no tax. Thats a what fair tax system is.

Pensions being almost as big as the education budget for the entire primary and secondary level education is actually laughable.

Maybe I'll just stay here in Ireland on the dole for another 20 years like a lot of other people I know.

Why work hard and struggle to pay a mortgage on a house when you can get a free one off the government?

There's no point working in Ireland, unless you're working for the government of course which I do intend on pursuing at some point.

If that fails, I'll move to a country where there are sensible policies in place for a robust society and economy.

The bank bailouts have proven if you're a cheat, you'll be rewarded.
Bankers are laughing at how stupid people in Ireland are and I'm not stupid enough to play along with their little game.

For every €100 spent on Gardai, we spend €66 on our Defence Forces.

Exactly who do we need to defend against? I think we need more defence from burglars, thieves & violent scumbags than we do from a foreign nation. So it should be more like €133 vs €33.

According to Mr. Shatter, we need to defend Israel from Israeli sponsored thugs destroying Syria.

Depends on which figures you believe it's about the same as the Taoiseach's Department in State Administration.

10% of it is pensions though. And some would come from Shared Services and OPW

Local Government Support is tiny, which explains a lot of the parish pump politics here.

According to the website i pay €53,610.80 in tax.Do i begrudge the less fortunate?,no.Do i begrudge the government for having such a high tax rate and little to show for it?,most definitely.

Sinn Fein are aiming to get their votes from "the working joe" (or perhaps the not working joe) by slandering people on the higher tax rate.I honestly think if the "working joes" were educated on what shite sinn fein spout over higher earners not feeling the pain we'd be heading in a very different direction.

I can't take another tax hike,i'll be paying elsewhere,it's not that i'm broke or anything it's just that i'd rather pay my tax somewhere it's appreciated, used correctly as well as coming out with more money at the end of the month. Why would i pay tax here when i can get it cheaper elsewhere?

And it's not only me,there are a lot of people who can transfer there employment status to another country here in Ireland,if they keep tackling the high earners they'll eventually have nobody to pay the taxes.

Well i don't full time reside here,i pay my tax here as i'm "employed in Ireland" but that could be switched elsewhere fairly quickly. As is the same with a lot of MNC employees who have a good relationship with the accountant.

Damn, taxes are low in Ireland. For the tax I pay here I would have an extra 7k in my pocket in Ireland.

Defence forces provide Cash-in-Transit protection, Hostage rescue, anti-terror, explosives disposal, and disaster relief. Among other duties.

An arguably, the effective rate of tax is much higher. I doubt this includes VAT, or any of the other duties, taxes and levies imposed - it's just straight income tax.

Remember. 23% of the price of everything you pay for goes to he government.

I'm going to have to start committing a lot more crime to justify the amount the Gardai are getting off me.

    Not everything.

0% (Zero) VAT rating includes all exports, tea, coffee, milk, bread, books, children’s clothes and shoes, oral medicine for humans and animals, vegetable seeds and fruit trees, fertilisers, large animal feed, disability aids such as wheelchairs, crutches and hearing aids.

the fact the more is sent straight out of the country via foreign aid than is spent on jobs and enterprise development shows just how messed up the governements priorities really are.

Assuming it's accurate, that is indeed absolutely insane.

I'm all for developed countries helping others, but it's just bizarre that more is spent there than on everything under the 'Economic Support' heading.
