I guess many compared Yoda to Spark or maybe the Out of the Box HDMU.

I'll just mention that there should in theory be no difference between any images' GUI's in that you can apply the same Skins to all images. I use KerniHD_RC2 and nothing else anymore. The only other thing GUI wise would obviously be the Bluepanel in Hyperion which of course is unique.

My own personal reason for giving up on HDMU a long time ago was the fact that it would just freeze now and again, for no apparent reason whatsoever. It could have been as long ago as Feb or March and I've never tried again since, essentially since AR-P was suddenly soooo stable and passed the family test with flying colours where, up to that point, the only thing flying was potentially the box out the top window. I was ridiculed for buying "that heap of ****". Following the arrival of AR-P, at this stage, I reckon I'm possibly in Credit with Brownie points !!

HDMU has come a long long way since March, there's been about 20 new versions since. I'd have it down as the most stable now, although it's a little bloated. But if you prepare your own image with just the plugins you need it's fine. Everything works, the only issue is the judder, but hopefully that's sorted

Anyone running my Hyperion image out there online now ? If so, can you check BluePanel > Actualisations and see if there is a Software Upgrade available.

It's just that an SVN-2298 has been released for other Hyperion v2 images for other boxes so there is a possibility that it's been upgraded without the fanfare.

SVN-2298 is available, took <3 seconds to download so it must be a very small file. Box automatically rebooted twice to install.

Ok, this is pretty simple to do. Make sure you have your nas turned on and a folder shared on it.

On your amiko box just go to setup, system and network. Then use network browser in that menu to find your NAS. It will come back with a list of devices on your network. Select your NAS box and then the folder that you shared out. Press "ok" to save that mount point.

Now go back into the network menu and go into mount manager. Select edit mountpoints management. When you select that it should list the mount point you have previously setup. Select that mount point

    Now change the following

use as hd replacement change to yes

    mount options change to rw

username and password to whatever you setup on your NAS.

lastly go back up to the top and change Active to enable.

Ok, after you have all this done go into crossepg settings and change the storage device to your NAS

Last thing you should have to do is to go into setup menu and then system and down to recording paths. Change the top one to your NAS folder.

And that's it. Any problems just let me know. And i wrote this on my phone, so it might not be the best guide ever :-)

From what I can make out too, am I correct in saying that you cannot do a roll up Software Upgrade on HDMU. Suddenly this is a huge plus for Hyperion users :), especially those less experienced users

Much like updates on linux or Android I'd be weary of updating this way, on Android you usually break something or cause lag when you update a custom Rom, you're always safer do a full wipe. It's best be careful and do a backup first so you can roll back

That is true but some skins dont work as well on different images ,they can be buggy.
I like KerniHD ,very nice skin

Guys, A2 box went t*ts up today for some reason which will forever be unknown to me! Was using Championc' AR-P image.
I'm wondering if I use the (Championc) Hyperion image posted in the firmware section, is it just a matter of applying the update from the Blue Panel to get rid of the judder?

Excuse my ignorance, What's the 'blue panel'?
Where's Tech Guy's version? I loaded it up Thursday, Oscam definitely worked better than previous version, just needs some tweaks.

Forget it, get champions hyperion. Much nicer image and no bugs

Yeah go with the Hyperion2 image, I deleted mine because people were finding bugs.

Hi guys, got one of these boxes recently. I'm running the latest Spark, which seems to do everything I need for the moment. However it won't order the channels as I want. I set up my desired order in Organise Favourites; but when surfing/Fav view/EPG View it rearranges them as satellite then terrestrial.

    Any help appreciated!

Autotimer will allow you to set up timers for series.

Assuming you have permanent timeshift installed and enabled multi button in championcs Hyperion2 image should allow you program the remote but I haven't done it myself so I can't tell you if it works for sure.

Can the Hyperion image use a usb wifi dongle for web access in place of a Lan connection? I can't see wireless networks as an option under setup. Any pointers appreciated

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,450 ✭✭✭championc

Not sure - maybe it only appears when the device is detected

There is wifi setup in the blue panel, have you had a look there? I use a cable so that's as much as I know on the wifi side of things.

Tried going back to the old AR-P image and can see W-Lan (WiFi) as an option. Pity. It rules me out of using Hyperion unless I change some hardware.

You're better off having the Alien2 connected directly to your router. I was able to run cable between the two but if that's not practical homeplugs are fairly cheap and will give a much better connection than a wifi dongle.

Can recommend these home plugs. Bought them about a month ago and never had a problem with them

Trying out Championcs PKT Image.... I guess it was was set up for a 1080p TV using HDMI. Can anyone give me the series of button presses to get from watching a channel to getting to the AV Menu and switching to Scart? I tried the button presses given out to achieve the same for the AR-P image but they don't work for the PKT.

    Cheers,

    Flex
