It's a different place. Different history and a large amount of people from a different ethnic background in the Protestants.

"I've met lots of bigoted nordies" etc.

I can do that too: the majority of people I've met from the North, from both broad communities, have been absolutely lovely.

Have to laugh at the innocence of this nordie love in. The majority of them despise us down here and would have no problem letting you know about it.
Majority - doubtful. Having a "feeling" that it's the majority isn't enough to support that inflammatory assertion.

what about the protestants with gaelic irish routes and the catholics with english routes?

There is a lot of ignorance from people here toward the north and vice versa.

I've been in Derry countless times and it's a great city. Was in Belfast a few times and can say the same.

Spent a weekend in Bangor recently and I reckon it's the most beautiful town in all of Ireland. I'll definitely be going back.

Go to Enniskillen a few times a year for shopping, and the people are nice there too.

Never experienced anything resembling trouble or had anyone look funny at me because of my accent.

Majority are of Scottish decent and Presbytarian. It's not going to be the same with the different history and the majority of the population having a different religion.

Well obviously some people have, so its down to experience which is hardly ignorance.

who ever said it is the same? Ulsters been different for centuries, even in the gaelic clan days, still not a good enough reason for people to dislike the place.

As they say in east tyrone - lick them

How can you tar an entire country, of which I doubt you've seen 1%, as a cess pit of bigotry

    Ask them I said.

Doubt away, I pass through the border twice every day. An opinion, which I'm entitled to have by the way, formed through experiences, as a previous poster said.

Sorry I didn't realise that your passing through the border twice a day gave you the expertise to classify an entire country as a cess pit of bigotry.

Makes my 25 years of being born and raised there look a bit foolish now...

    Why?
This country is called Ireland, not the 26 counties.

Sure, how else would Dublin ever beat Kerry, other than by cheating. Dubs are all racist.

    Racist, I tell ya!!! :pac:
