Is there many heading to the U21 semi in Thurles Saturday?

Some would argue the real GAA fans will be there and not the bandwagon bunch that will be going to Croker in Sep. How and ever, hopefully more go now, support is support. 6.00 pm Sat

Should be a good game, Galway wont be a walkover anyway. Im sick of hearing about real fans and bandwagon fans. The more the merrier I say, there's a great buzz around the place since Sunday.

The whole Bandwagon thing annoys me, as a Clare and Munster fan I'm well used to being in half desserted stadiums during unfashionable games but I'm a bit of a sadist, if someone wants to go to 1 match a decade that doesn't bother me once they get behind the team, I'd much prefer to have someone supporting the team for 70 minutes rather than someone complaining about all the people who hadn't been at a game in years for 70 minutes.

I'm a proud member of the bandwagon

Fellas I grew up with, went to school with, even pucked a ball around with are in an AI final.
What do you want me to do?

Completely agree, people who complain about bandwagon fans and proclaim themseleves as true supporters are far more annoying than any so called fine day supporter.

Believe he he has being injured for much of championship so far

How the football championship be affected after yesterday's game? I presume Cooraclare v Cratloe won't be played for a few more weeks

Will any of the senior lads be rested for the 21's final? No disrespect to Antrim, after their great win over Wexford, but we cant afford to lose any of the senior lads to injury. Im sure they all want to play and I think they should maybe start and go from there! What are other peoples thoughts?

I'd say they should start. Would be good for them to get the game time in and would help get over the Cork game.

If they are winning then they can always be taken off. Worst thing in my opinion that could happen before the replay would be to lose the U21 final as that would demoralise those involved.

Nope, for one those player would be most likely be very aggrieved if that was to happen, if they could win back to back U21 titles it would still one of the highlights of their career when its all over, no matter what else they might (hopefully) go on to achieve at Senior level. I am pretty sure that some of Ger Loughnane former charges are still pretty frustrated by him doing the same thing before a Munster U21 final back in 95 that we could have won.

Injuries can just as easily happen at training, no point living in fear of them, I am sure that they are just as intense as any U21 final :).

Yeah thats a fair argument! Back to back U21 titles would be a success in itself for the young lads. My heart will be in my mouth watching that game but as you say injuries could easily happen in training.

Will Cunningham be back this weekend?!

Certainly hope so, although no doubt we do have plenty of quality options if he is still out.

I haven't heard anything on the injury, I live up in Dublin these days so my local GAA insider knowledge is pretty limited :)

Well said, you can be sure all the lads on the senior panel will want to be a part of it anyway!!

Wins today for Lissycasey and Clondegad in the senior football championship. The two intermediate semi finals are on today also with Kilmihil winning the first game

    Eire Og Beat Quilty

Lissycasey and Eire Og are into the semi finals but the rest of the championship is in a mess. The other quarter finals won't be played for potentially 5 or 6 weeks

It looks like we are completely screwed for the Munster club championship anyway, decent article on it in the sindo yesterday.

Just checked the Munster GAA website and luckily the Clare representatives got a bye into the semi finals for both the hurling and football. The Clare hurling champions are playing the Cork champions on the 10th of November and the football champs are playing on the 17th of November. If we had to play the quarter final in the hurling it would have been on on the 27th of October which is definitely out of the questions

I take it you mean kilmurray ibrickane.. no such team as quilty nowadays.. was at the match and hopefully the eire og midfielder who was taken off in an ambulance will be ok..great match to watch and the townies will be tough nut to crack imo.

I was at it too, the injury looked fairly serious. They will be very difficult to beat alright, very good defence but O'Neill will be a huge loss

i think he is fine it was the shock of the injury that caused concern plus with the nature or the injury itself it was probley only right for so much care to be taking, eire og will be very hard to beat but who knows whats goin to happin with the chaos on the other side of the draw, cratloe would be serous contenders if there not burned out!!

we all know about the ambulance in kilmihil last night but did anyone hear of the guards having to call back to cooreclare for the second match there yesterday between miltown and corofin where things got a little out of hand between the players on the field and supporters in the stand:eek: !!! any truth in this??

by the way milltown won 0-6 to 0-3 and will play kilmihil in the final on the first weekend in october as far as i know.

Did the ambulance have to come from Kilrush or Ennis?

95% sure ennis, it took about half an hour to get there and the game itself was delayed for 45 mins

i was not at the game only goin on what one or two of the players and supporters said.

that's correct windy.. players left the field while game was held up waiting for the ambulance.. where were the red cross people.. aren't they suitably qualified to deal with these injuries while waiting for an ambulance..total farce that there is no continguency for these things at this level.. glad to hear that guy will be ok..

Congrats to a superb clare team,no matter what we done, clare had an answer.

Very rarely u c a team outside KK, the last fw years, have such resolve, steel, balls, and the heart and will to win, polished of by pure hurling skills , and superb players.

I said in may clare were a team for the future, didnt think it be so soon.

Fully deserved,i said ye be sum team to beat us twice, couldnt c ye doing that.

But today proved how such a special team, with a very astute and brave manager ,and with such a young strong and large panel,ye could be the new Kilkenny.

Its hard to c any complacency with a team next under Davy.

Theres nt much you can do when your simply outclassed. In 140 minutes of hurling we were beaten by the better team.

    Congratualtions.

Congrats Clare folk. A fantastic team that play a brilliant style of hurling. Great hurlers from Clare these days among others Kelly, Collins, the Macs and the new superstar O Donnell, what a move to bring him in today from Davy.

Epic final, the most exciting final ive ever seen.
