I found mine was very hollow, as soon as I put some stuff into it all that noise went.

That's interesting. I have only have very light gear to put in it, so might try some heavier stuff. A solid bulkhead is no disadvantage to me as I have the rear black glass. No idea why they gave me a rear view mirror, totally defeats the purpose.

You might find it tricky to get a solid bulkhead. Pretty sure when I needed a van with one, my dealer had to order a high cap model as well as the 600kg version I ordered, and swap the bulkhead over.

Can't remember why I didn't order a high cap, but that's the only model that came with a full bulkhead as the rear windows are opaque.

Rather strange set up - wasn't available as a part at the time.

You can buy them on ebay.co.uk

    Cheaper version

    Proper soundproofing version

Possibly get them cheaper elsewhere, must research further.

Will that definitely fit? 2004 + model would be the old model. Right pain to find out it doesn't fit when it arrives.

I thought the current model came out in 2004? It was face-lifted in 2011, but that was only the headlights?

So you have the plastic, grated type bulk head in yours as well?

I have clear rear windows, would swap for tinted any day!

I've 4k done on mine. Once or twice it was a bit slow to start (Ie. you could hear it turning a couple of times) but other than that it's been fine. Power is fine to be honest, you just have to know your limits.

That's exactly the bulkhead I have.

The tinted rear glass look nice, but a disaster trying to reverse. It's of no use to me anyway as I'll be putting a logo on the back and part of the logo is black. I'll have to whiten the whole rear window.

A bit disappointing to hear of the starting problems. Doesn't sound anything major though and you have a 3 year warranty. I think the new 1.6 VAG engines are proving to be very reliable thus far.

I think my post sounded a bit over reacting. Wouldn't call it a starting problem. Normally just starts on the first click of the key, a few times it's turned for one second longer maybe.

I'm blessed with the rear window as the previous van had nothing at all!

Good to hear. Sounds very minor.

Being able to see out through the rear glass is a major plus. I'm still looking in the rear view mirror. You don't realise how often you use it, until it's gone. Parking is a bit of a nightmare tbh.

More like you don't realise how much you use it until it's back.

What I find stupid is, the rear window is offset so you can see out on the road, but the bulkhead is offset on the other side. So when I look through the mirror I can't see anything in the middle as the where the rear doors meet lines up perfectly beside where the bulk head meets.

If that makes any sense at all!

Yeah, that makes sense as my bulkhead is the same and I can imagine that problem. Still, better than looking out at nothing at all!

Perspex with a rubber seal off a car door would do the trick also, and no road noise from back

Excellent stuff! I was only thinking about a cheaper/temporary version today. Will look into this.
