I do wonder about the mental state of anyone who says Alex Jones out debated Piers Morgan.

I dunno about worrying about their mental state, but I would class them as people who can't understand how a debate works and just picks the guy who shouted loudest and say "Yeah, he definitely won". I'm fairly surprised people who watched that thinks Alex Jones somehow got one over on Morgan.

At least Clarkson gave him a dig, I mean that could be seen as "pwning" "owning", "Epic winning" or whatever Americanism takes yer fancy :pac:.

How was he a right-winger in the UK? The Mirror was steadfast against the Iraq War while he was editor.

What party was in power during the Iraq war? He is (was?) married to the daughter of a Tory MP.
Also, please describe to me what a 'media-whore' is? Someone who works in the media? Has a TV show?

Someone who will go write for and pursue the agenda of any media rag. Whilst he was editor of the Mirror, he also wrote for the Sun. Would attention whore suit you better, or wil we just agree on cnut.

Apparently Jeremy Clarkson met him on an airplane and punched him in the face. Another reason why I like Clarkson.
Last flight of Concorde - he poured a glass of water over him. He punched him later after PMs book came out accusing JC of not writing his own columns and intrusions on his private life. I lolled when I heard that. I also chuckled when PM got himself into the gun debate and Americans wanted the cnut deported, that Clarkson tweeted "Americans. It took us 40 years to get rid of Piers Morgan. Pleasse don't send him back"

Anyone who thinks Alex Jones got the better of Piers Morgan needs their head examined. Alex Jones came across like a raving, unstable, lunatic threatening to fight Piers Morgan, shouting at him and then talking about some kind of anti-depressent conspiracy. Piers Morgan didn't have to do anything, his point was proven by the behaviour of Alex Jones on the show. The messege was do you feel comfortable with loons like Alex Jones having access to an arsenal of weaponary?

There are better books from more credible, less publicity seeking journalists out there that cover the ins and outs of Fleet Street with a lot more insight to their profession than The Insider.

Full Disclosure by Andrew Neil and Editor - A Memoir by Max Hastings spring to mind.

Having said that, it is about 7 years since I read Morgan's biography so I probably have forgotten some of his more useful contributions to it.

The fact that I remember it mostly for his persistent name dropping doesn't endear it to me.

Never said it was the best, just that it gave an original angle on the business. I also really liked Andrew Marr's autobiography (name escapes me now), too. Don't particularly like Andrew Neil, though, but since this thread's about Morgan, I won't go into that.

A sad little attention whore with a $6,000,000 per year salary!

Wealth is a slightly strange criterion for personal likeability and integrity, the range of which includes royalty, dictators and criminals. :)

I was never a fan of the man, but his autobiography, The Insider, is a fantastic read. I must for any journalism students.

He gives tools a bad name

I try not to pay any attention to the **** but I watched his interview with Ricky Gervais, being a Ricky fan. He comes across as a sad little man. Such a try hard, attention seeking idiot.

That's the most spot-on description of Gervais I've read in a while. Well done.

That's stretching, to be fair. Marrying someone doesn't generally mean that you have to agree with your in-laws about things. Quite the opposite, in fact.

It amuses me that we have to go as far as Alex Jones to find a measure for the ugliness of Piers Morgan.
