I don't understand why anyone would buy a car they didn't like, it's not a good deal if you don't like it.

@Marcusm, no its petteril, but closest yet.

    Ya big traitor yah
got a really good deal from it and also gave in the golf on it.

its only an opinion. nothing more, not like im going against bmw heads either since i have one and im slagging it myself !

like this is a car i own that i actually dont like. its only if you ask me what do i think of a certain car then i'd say it but i dont just come out and say a certain someones car is crap for no reason.

I don't your reasoning at all, and there is no real logic to your explanation.
I don't like eclass mercs, in fact I hate the fookers, as I have always found them to be driven by people who tend to have a "I rule the road attitude" and when I learned to drive a neighbour in one caused me untold grief with his rude behaviour.

However the OH has recently gotten a 00 e class merc and loves it as he's a lazy driver, likes that it's automatic, comfy and big and solid.

I got to drive it tonight for the first time (took him a good month to get over his fear that I'd go insane and take off like a rocket - in an e class?)

Anyway I thought it was a very dull drive compared to the alfa, and didn't enjoy driving it at all, so it's just added to my dislike of the car.

however, as it's an automatic and my left knee is banjaxed to some extent, there are days when it will be great for me to have it to drive if my knee is acting up.

There is good and bad in every car I've driven three series and loved them, but am unlikely to ever own one, simply because I don't especially want one, but I do think that bmw drivers tend to be closer to my taste than e.g. e class drivers.

I was quite delighted at how disgusted the OH was that without any real instruction, I just got in the car and drove it and parked it without incident.

    Heeeeheeeeheeee

Here, imagine being a trainer for adults in IT, female, delivering training primarily to male students, and you arrive in and they gawk in disbelief that you are the trainer?

It was funny though we had a computer teacher come in and ask us have any of us used design/drafting software before, I was the only one who had, everyone kept staring me out of it whenever he asked a question about them then

3 series in general. always thought the 3 series to be the girls bmw, the 5 series for the men and 7 series for the real men.

as said, each to their own, i dont like bmw or mercs and some others. but that shouldn't change other peoples opinions

Between this post and the post calling another user's (very nice i might add) car a pile of dung, I think you would do well to rethink that opinion

Coming from a 318i and a volvo via a vw, I dont think you should be calling anyone's car a pile of dung.

And, why is a 5 series for men but a 7'er for real men? What differentiates the two? And why am I less of a man for driving a 5'er instead of a bloated 730d which is heavier and down on power compared to my 5'er

You are normally a serious poster on here but you are doing yourself no favors whatsoever this evening. IMO.

AH I do that all the time if most of mine don't know something and one or two do, it's a particular technique we are taught so we involve at least one person in the class and engage other people to be interested in knowledge other than the tutor.

And KSL left out the six series, personally if I were to buy a BMW and in a world where I had no budget constraints I'd want one of those :)

KSL might class those as big girl cars maybe? Or real girl cars?

To be fair, his volvo was lovely.

@KS&L what's the story with your recent car history Volvo -> Punto ->Van (I think) -> golf -> BMW in the space of a month I think? What's going on?

But your shoulders and back are crocked.

I'd rather have one dodgy knee and be able to drive/sail than have a dodgy back :)

My Z4 (not that I would ever own one you gullible creature) will be blue with red leather

Next for me is a Gt or Brera :D

It's more that when I started training I was in my mid thirties, and was teaching people in their forties/fifties etc, and they assumed as I was younger I didn't have the experience, what I teach is very practical.

No it's a very valid question, I'd a student last week who fifteen years ago was my superior in work, but due to different career progressions ended up in one of my classes, and was very happy to acknowledge that my experience usurped his, on top of my knowledge of the theory.

Scortho, did you see about my feckin door seal? (I am slightly obsessed about this)

And why do I have a fearsome reputation? I'm really a kind and soft person

I'd suspect power pants doesn't work in IT.

It would be like mechanics going into a class that was taught by a woman, it's the best analogy I can come up with :)
