Even so, if you don't enjoy it, don't force yourself to do it in college. You'll just end up detesting your course, skipping lectures, not doing work etc. It's not worth it. College is about doing the subjects you enjoy. And trust me when I say this; you will most likely change your career choice at least once during your time here.

I guess so. My timetable is kind of funny if I take history with geog/fren because I'd have no lectures on a Thursday and 1 on a Friday..
I'll have to read up on them all again.

Just be sensible with it. So long as you're not abusing the system, you should be okay.

There is indeed one history tutorial a week!

Sure my third year timetable is similar! I'm totally free from 10am on Wed till 10am on Fri!

Sure I used to have my boyfriend over every week. The only thing worth worrying about is your friends causing issues that'd get you caught like being loud, breaking things, pissing off other people, etc.

Gahh kind of annoying but with those 3 subjects I had one lecture on a Monday at 5pm so I could have a long enough weekend.

I never minded! I tend to find the mid-week break better! If anything else, I'm slightly more likely to actually do something useful!

I'm jealous of all this break talk. Once again, my timetable does not permit breaks. You might call my 1pm start on a Tuesday a break, but I'd call it commuter hell :(

I haven't worked in tutorials but I probably won't know until registration

You'll register for tutorials after classes start. You get a choice of times for history so you should be able to find the best suited one. Hey in early though!

Still undecided on history. I didn't take history for the Leaving Cert (Ran against geography) and wondered would I be able to slot back into it?

    I hated LC history. Got a D.
I love history in college and have never gotten less than a 2.1 in it.

They're two totally different subjects imo. I've heard some lecturers say that they can prefer students who haven't studied it before.

I really enjoyed it until I stopped doing it (of course a fantastic teacher helped with that) and I had about 10 geography teachers throughout my time in secondary but it's just that subject I've always liked.
That's food for thought anyway and I'd have 3 selected then.

If you like history I'd recommend at least going to the first few lectures to try it out before making your decision. I love it. I just thought that the LC course was horrible.

I wouldn't have been too into the Irish politcal stuff that was part of their course, but the rest seemed interesting.

The subject matter was good. It's just the way the course is formed. It's way too big a course for the one exam. I didn't like the way they expected essays to be written either. It's just all about dates. I'd rather go into things more and bring more thought and opinion into it. The LC course didn't give you that option. It's too big a course, yet far too limited.

Timetables are here. You will need to pick your modules yourself though that. After you have registered you'll be able to login here and get your timetable directly that way.

    You pay fees when registering.

Well you have the option to pay half or all!

Fair enough. I'm glad to see that they've made that option available.

I'm throwing this up here for the first year newbies (and everyone else!) It was written by a former NUIMer who moved to DIT but the points made could pretty much cover anywhere!

Playdo is a lot of fun. I was never a member, but I took part in some cross-over events. It's a nice little creative release.
