    Official Fifa retirement

Having beaten my young nephew Zak at Fifa, I am pleased to announce my official Fifa retirement, effective immediately.

Before the match, Zak told me he would 'destroy me', that 'he had never lost to a relative' and that he may just beat me by more goals than the 8-0 thrashing he dished out to Uncle Rory.
Tonight, he is a broken man.

Final Score: Dortmund 1-2 Liverpool (Suarez, Sturridge)

I don't think anyone will actually believe it was his decision....but it was a stupid statement anyway because if he had went they never would have gotten Ozil.

    And tell me this,
Would you rather they had our Luis or their ozil.?
I'm delighted we still have our nutcase Luis.

Never realised they signed him. Shame, class player

Twas an odd Transfer cause he asked to go over to Donesk first before signed for them to scout the place out. Found it strange anyway, surely he could ring the Brasilian lads already there.

This is really horrible, top of the league and International duty.. what a poxy combination. Bring back the doom and gloom. Rodgers out, he's only a groper.

No. I prefer the tumbleweed. Nice and peaceful.

Peace is a very rare thing in this thread but I suppose it is good that it dosen't take long to read up from where you left off. No excusses for missing anything.

We have to wait until Monday week as well for the next game and the inevitable turn to pessimism if we lose.

Suarez scored 2 for Uruguay yesterday so this suspension could be a blessing as he has gotten a good rest and looks fresh and hungry (not for flesh i hope)

Apparently, his father (also probably his agent) was pushing for him to go to an Intermediate European team with a Brazilian foundation to gain experience, then a few years later to move to a top team where he will walk into the starting line up.
So that really left Shaktar or Porto who were duking it out for his service.

So the agent gets the signing on fee from Shaktar, and when they sell in a few years for a massively inflated price, another massive agent fee.
Given that he is already in the Brazil squad, his chances of being at the world cup wont be compromised.
So a big win for everyone involved as long as he lives up to his potential.

Just wateched a gerrard highlight vid if the moldova game, ****e opposition i know. Hes developing nicely into his cm role, maturing like a fine wine as cliché a term as it is. His days of scoring 10+ goals could be coming to an end but hell be of more use to us in cm rather then his cam position of old. Heres hoping for an injury free season!

Just on this, I was thinking about his return yesterday. As much as I'd love for him to make a triumphant return against Man U by getting on the scoresheet and generally terrorising them, I'd be nervous about playing him in such a volatile game.

We should be able to trust him not to be stupid, but I'm sorry, I can't. So I hope he's on the bench, only to be brought on if the game requires it.

The mirror saying johnson could be out for up to ten weeks, looks like wisdom is gonna get an extended run of games at rb i assume. Hopefully kelly will get match fit soon and mclaughlin gets moved to melwood permanently, please no flannagan...

Shame as johnson had probably one of his best games for us v utd. Pretty cool how wisdom a year ago wouldnt have been considered much atall, hes come on a long way in a short space of time, hes a big talent.

I hear ya, the numbers add up with all you are saying.

    But.....

Fk it, he owes it to you, to me, to everyone else who follows the club. He owes us. Get him on the pitch from the start to help us get through to the next round.

If he were playing for me I would play him until he drops
Every minute of every game from when he is back to the end of the season. If he wants to play in the world cup thats his problem but right now he is a liverpool player and thats whois paying the piper.

Totally agree but is he gonna see it like that or is he gonna be thinking "Fk it,the club lied to me,I'm stuck here and don't want to be...fk them"?

Obviously I hope I'm completely wrong but who knows what goes through that mans head at times...

Liverpool striker Iago Aspas has revealed how much he is enjoying life in the Premier League following his summer move from Celta Vigo.

Aspas is still to score for his new club and recognises English football is far more physical than what he has been used to in Spain - but would still recommend it to other footballers.

"I would tell any player to go to the Premier League," he said. "You get a different feeling, especially compared to Spain.

"It's the first time I've left home so that's been hard, but things are going well. I'm very happy, especially because we are leading the league. It's only been three games though, and it's a very long competition.

"I'm playing a bit further back than I did at Celta, but over there you need to run a bit more because it's a bit more physically. That's the biggest difference from the Spanish league, which is more based on technique.

"So far, I've only played three games there and I haven't visited all the stadiums, so it'd be difficult for me to say which of the two is the better league. At the end of the season, I can answer that question."

Who is going to want to take him if he does that though?. If he wants off to a Real Madrid type team he will have to be very good on the pitch.

I firmly believe a mutually acceptable truce has been agreed as follows:-

LFC to Suarez - We will give you a new contract (hasn't he already signed a revised contract as a result of the failed £40m+£1-get-out-clause-gate affair?) which a) bumps up your pay to keep you sweet and b) inserts a cast iron get out clause along the lines of "any club outside the UK who offer £55m for you after the end of the season will have their offer accepted by LFC.

Suarez to LFC - You give me a guaranteed exit route if I want to leave after the end of the season and a few more quid a week to keep my missus in LV handbags and I'll run my fcuking socks off for you for the remainder of the season to a) guarantee my spot at the world cup, b) put myself in the shop window so Real Madrid can buy me next summer when Ronaldo goes back to Man U as Ferguson's first signing during his "interim" period as manager (couldn't resist that one :p) and c) I'll leave LFC on reasonable terms hopefully in the Champions League the cash from which combined with the £55m you get for me will allow you to buy back Andy Carroll, Stewie Downing and Champagne who ate all the pies Adam. :D

    Ben

Yep. Is up to the player to make himself attractive to other teams. I am sure he saw the lack of solid interest in him from the mega rich clubs during the summer. If he really wants his big move, then he has to play well between his comeback and each transfer window, and also stay away from any controversy.

But you're thinking rationally Daithi and Luis isn't really known for that.

I'm probably wrong anyway because he never strikes me as the type that wouldn't give 100% every time he's on the pitch.

Have to disagree. On the pitch maybe at times the brain fails to engage, but I think overall he's quite a shrewd and calculating character. He'll know his best chance of the big move he wants is to have a standout season.
Who knows what other players may have their break through season making them the hot transfer story next season, so he needs to show he can keep his nose clean and score lots and lots of lovely goals.

What? want-away suarez whos done all our heads in over the summer and is prob only gonna stay till jan/summer for one of the best midfielders in the world on a 4/5 year deal? hmmmm

Id almost do a straight swap on the day luis becomes eligible to play again, but then Ozil barely wanted to go to arsenal even with CL footie.

He may be brain dead during games but id imagine someone would have had a word this summer that he wasn't wanted by the teams he has intentions to move to because of his image. Its not about ability. If it hasn't sunk in this summer it never will.

By the way its really nice to have so little to catch up on when I've been away from the thread for 2/3 days to come back to just 3/4 pages and no-one freaking out, just the little of the latest news and maybe one regurgitated discussion rather than 50 pages of absolute lunacy before the transfer deadline was up and having to trawl through it to find the same.

We get CL then Suarez might stay, Coutinho might stay and Sakho might see out his contract.

we don't get CL then all those 'mights' will become definite 'wont'

Massive season ahead imo for shaping us over the medium to longterm.

I will say it again ...I hope the scouts and committee are hard at work for the Jan window as this club/squad needs another great window and not just a stop gap one.
Jan should be seen as a kick-on to fill wherever we have identified as problematic over the 18weeks played, and add more top class players to push us on and over the line for CL qualification in the second half of the league.

anything less and we will finish <6th imo.

With Johnson out for 10 weeks, does that mean Wisdom at RB? Could Ilori play there?
