I was looking at this pullup bar on irish lifting but I saw reviews on amazon/youtube where people highlight the damage it can do to your door and wall. Since I'm renting this is obviously something I really need to avoid. Any experience with this?

Any of the lever style ones that hang from the door and push most of the weight against the frame dont do any damage

THats the type he has read all the people complaining about. They can cause indentations in weak/soft wood.

You can wrap things like pipe insulation on the contacting parts to lower the pressure on the wood. Like a flat shoe on a heavy person might be fine on a wood floor, but a small woman in heels might mark it.

Unless your door has steel frames you'll find that any pullup bar will damage the door over time.
