who's the most talented - Gervais or Coogan

They're both of a similar age and equally funny, both have moved on to Hollywood to broaden their careers with each having mixed results.

But who is the most talented?? Gervais wrote the Office and Extras while Coogan created Partridge, Saxondale, Paul Calf...

Both are brilliant as live performers and have sold out everywhere they performed

So who gets your vote and why

For me its Coogan just for Partridge alone, i do find Gervais's humour a tad cruel at times.

Coogan all the way.

Have seen every single episode of I'm Alan Partridge, Knowing Me, Knowing You, Mid-Morning Matters etc and he's the only person on TV who can make me laugh out loud.
Going to see Alpha Papa tomorrow.

I used to think Gervais but, lately, Coogan has pipped it for me. He's been playing Partridge for 20-odd years without going stale, in sharp contrast to Gervais's recent and deperate attempts to revive Brent.

Tough, but Coogan.

Steve Coogan is a hard drinking coke snorting bird banging survivor of the Mdchester years who developed a brilliantly sad character completely different to himself.

As funny as the sadness of David Brent and Andy Millman are, you can't help but recognise in his stand up that they are an extension of Gervais himself.

The previous one he co wrote was even worse. As much as I love the old Simpsons, if I were famous and asked to guest voice I wouldn't dare taint my legacy with a rubbish, completely plot irrelevant guest piece.

Coogan was doing voice overs and impersonations for Spitting Image years before Partridge. All Gervais has really ever played is himself or Brent.

I'm not a huge fan of Steve Coogan but I definitely prefer him to Ricky Gervais. I actually don't find Gervais funny at all and could never understand why he got so popular.

I remember Geravais starting out with Sacha Baron Cohen (as Ali G) on The 11 O'Clock Show in London back in 1998. Sacha stole the show and anyone I know who regularly watched it. Seems to remember Gervais as the sneering, unfunny twat, who tried too hard. All qualities he never lost. Not a big Coogan fan, but he beats said twat hands down.

It's been a great many years since I watched her on the Sky debut, but it was some sort of Wife Swap reality set up plot. It was ****ing dire. I loved The Office and Extras (although upon rewatching, Extras has less repeat appeal than The Office did) but that episode was horrendous.

The Day Today was class, they only made six or seven episodes, but it was sheer genuis. Drop the Dead Donkey, on the other hand, was a steaming pile of sh1te!

I'm on a train so I can't watch this. I just imagined it though. "I don't know if you've seen 'Women In Love'. There's a marvellous scene by the fire. It kind of resembled that."

For me, this will always be one of Coogan's best scenes.
I've seen this episode dozens of times and every time it makes me laugh until I'm crying.
