Done the assessments just now went OK I think. Had 5 minutes spare for the written reasoning but didnt get to the end of the audio

You answered all 42 questions and had five minutes to spare??? Holy Moses!!!

Just got the tests done now and i'd say i fluffed it!!! :(

Didn't get all the Verbal reasoning done but fair play to anyone who did.
Got 4 screens done on the call centre, wasn't as bad as i thought but not a very fast typer.

Aw well, here's to the waiting game again, hopefully not that long.

i got all 42 questions done with 2 mins to spare, but i had put alot of practice into the verbal reasoning type of test in the local library. with the call taker practice i was getting all 8 done with about 30 seconds to spare. in the real test i got 6 out of the 8 done.

how did people find the behavioural test? did you play the game and give them the answers they wanted or give your honest answer?

hopefully thats enough to get me to stage 2.

Anyone that got the verbal reasoning finished I really and truly have to take my hat off to. Only got to around the twenty odd mark myself and I've always passed verbal reasoning tests in the past. Must be slowing up in my old age. Anyway test was a disaster for me. Only about 20 qs answered and i only got about half the typing done.

Just done my tests ... God the time goes fast :-) . It's done now and it's a weight off. Got 31q s done on the verbal and got to the end of the 4th page on the typing not great but that's my best.
Happy enough with all i have done, if it is meant to be its meant to be !
The very best of luck to you all !

Just finished now myself. Got to 36 on the verbal reasoning, have no idea how far I got on the call center one tbh. Just kept going till time ran out. Tried to go more so for the accuracy. Kind of a weight now that it's done and I can do no more, but now begins the please just put me out of misery stage. Good luck to all. At least he talks slower then the woman in the practice test.

Just did the tests a minute ago only got to page 4 on the call center test but when doing the practice ones I could finish all eight of them:o,Cannot see myself getting through to the next round based on the tests just done.
A friend even said that the practice call center tests are very fast and she does touch typing ah well just going have to wait for the news(good/bad) best of look to everyone who gets through to the next round looks like I will never escape the transport industry after nearly 20 yrs working in it.

Genuinely wasnt that hard, the answers to the questions were the samish it was just a matter of memory for most of them with some needing to be reread to be sure.

Did no practice for it but I do read quite complex legal docs every day which helps I guess.

42 answers in 7 minutes is some going!! I'd barely get 42 questions read in 7 minutes never mind answer them!!

I'd imagine at interview stage they'll interview about 100 people or so, so ya could be right on those stage 2 numbers. I'd guess between 600-800 through to stage 2

    Fingers crossed so :-)
I doubt they would go back over the first tests in stage 2 .

I've been thinking, even if I get called for the next stage I don't it it would be possible to take this job.
The pay is just over €20,000 per year before tax?

That is a terrible wage and as much as people might say it's not about the money, unless you live with mammy and daddy that wage will make it very difficult to live on.

After tax you would be getting paid around €343 per week. That's only €150 more than the dole, for all sort of shift work, also without any other benefits.

Also there's no guarantee you will progress on to working with DFB, there's nothing to stop them just letting you go after the initial contract and starting a new competition for the fire brigade as they have done already.
It's possible Dublin city council know most people wouldn't work for that wage without some sort of carrot being dangled in front of them so they possibly used the idea of working with the fire brigade as an incentive, without actually guaranteeing anything.

I work full time as it is and I earn more than the above, I don't live an extravagant lifestyle and I just barely get by week by week.

It's just not practical and for that reason, I'm out!

Good luck to those of you who want it.

I'm in the same boat as yourself regarding salary at present I earn over double in what is on offer from the DFB not to mention OT etc,From what I heard there is also shift allowance that could bring the starting salary just over 25/27k.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 222 ✭✭Arruabarrena

There is a shift allowance. Allowances bring it up to around 26k.

I'm the same to be honest, however, as an existing public servant I can transfer my salary to a new position as I cant go lower in my wages.

    Only reason I've applied

Any existing public servants or only DCC employees? I was under impression it was only DCC employees that could transfer their salary?

Didn't hear a thing about the next stage , what rumors did you hear?
It dose not make much sense doing more aptitude testing .
