Fair enough people think that with our limited funds, money might be better spent elsewhere considering our squad right now. But I can't understand people saying Milner wouldn't improve us.

For all your criticisms of the current setup, you would be happy with Milner as the upgrade.

    Wow

I'm curious if you've watched him play over the last few years?

What did you think of Aspas' performance on Saturday?

    ****e, they are all ****e.

More times than I care to remember. Milner does a solid Kuyt esque job but with less goals.

So, Lucas and Stevie are pretty nailed down as starters. We are trying to upgrade the midfield and Milner is a good option

Could you not see him as a good option for right midfield? He's great in that position.

We heard this when he was at Villa too. Some special people here thought we were too good for him at that time. He then went on to star in a PL winning team. It was embarrassing then. It's even worse now to be honest.

I think people automatically factor in the cost of signing him when answering the questions - bit pointless other wise I think. I mean we all woke and Milner was in our squad we'd all agree he improves but that obviously not how it works.

    Thought he was decent.

Have to disagree. He can beat a man and cross a ball, unlike Kuyt. And he's got pace.

I do yeah. Where do we want Coutinho ?

Coutinhio has to be moved to the middle. However, if it's in place of Henderson/Allen it'll be to the detriment of our midfield.

Gareth Barry starred in a PL winning side, I really wish we got himand got rid of Alonso that time...

He would be just that, another option. We need a 10 or we need wide front men so that Countiho can play 10.

Could Milner play in the front 3? Not for me, he doesn't offer enough going forward.

Milner is just above average imo, jack of all positions but master of none.

Do you think he would be a good purchase for say £12M?

Milner for £15m would be a sweet buy.

    He's an excellent player.

Was that Villa team starring Stuart Downing

You're not actually making any sense.

    Milner was brilliant for Villa.
He then moved to City and was excellent for them. What exactly is your point?

    Apparently not. We're aiming higher.

In fairness, Milner went to a club challenging and winning a league and still performed. Same cant be said for Stewie.

    Nope.

We've gotten Sturridge, Aspas, and Cou for that kind of Money. All whom are better than Milner IMO.

Milner is NOT what we need. That's my point.

Lol at throwing the stink of Borini back at me. He's playing in our ****ing under 21's. Nearly everyone agrees he's pretty far down in the pecking order, despite being a favourite of the manager. That should tell you all you need to know about his time at the club so far.

Rodger's favourite playing in the U-21's? Come on, at least try Al! Maybe it's a reflection on the signings for the front 3 in the 8 months or so?

Most of us were all prepared to give Henderson and Downing time despite less than impressive first seasons, that should apply moreso for Borini given his injuries, that would be consistent across all the managers we've had. You aren't prepared to do that.

Aspas looks a decent player, but you came out with a moronic statement after 2 pre season games.
    Mr Alan wrote: »
Actually, they should be even easier dismissed. Statistically irrelevant as there has been a host of other changes in our team, as well as other teams.

That tends to happen during the Summer, especially with posters calling for multiple signings.
Just to clarify, you saying above that maybe quality signings for our first team aren't required to get top 4?

Not the quality signings in the areas I wanted. If Rodgers and the team see Mignolet and Willian as the quality signings needed, plus keeping Suarez, I'm willing to see how it goes, it's his call and if we leak goals he'll be called on it.

Put this way, if we have Suarez/Sturridge/Coutinho/Willian/Aspas/Sterling/Borini/Ibe/Alberto as the front 3 options, I'll be very impressed. Rodgers has obviously gone the we'll score more than you approach, it'll be exciting to watch if nothing else, and easily top 4 quality, plus should be a joy to watch.

Personally I think we've been too used to Rafa and Kenny, who both put tremenduous reliance on a DM, we've become accustomed to that style of play.
