Then we finish 6th/7th without ever really challenging for the CL.

It's important to keep re-iterating this IMO. Otherwise the goalposts will be moved in an effort to heap praise on management/FSG.

    Wow.

You are starting to sound paranoid.

I cannot recall one poster on this or the last thread that wasnt of the opinion that 2 to 3 starters were required to improve the first team. Perhaps you can point me in the direction of such a post?

To a man here, we will criticise or praise FSG/the management when WE decide it is needed and NOT when you decide.

We are capable of making up our own minds on the evidence we see from day to day and not for fear of being denigrated by you .

If our opininions dont suit you then tough titty. Deal with it and move on.

Btw, definate stink of Borini off our CF tonight!
    Rant over...for now anyways.

I'm calling it now. Jordan Rossiter will be the best central midfielder that the academy has produced since Gerrard. It's frightening just how good this kid is and he's only 16.

“Jordan Rossiter has trained with us a few times. I like the look of him. He’s got a bit of character and steel that me and Stevie have had – When he was 15 he was playing for the U18s, which is a tremendous accolade for the lad. He’s a great talent,” Carragher told the Liverpool website.

Its one thing being a 16 year old playing on the wing for the Under 21's but anchoring the midfield at 16 is quite an achievement.

Because of what happens on the the thread. Ok. So many of your posts seems to be about proving posters wrong, as opposed to the actual team not succeeding, but gwan. Fair play.

Liverpool lead 3-2. But Utd have the upper hand, Liverpool are running on fumes

They pressed pretty hard at times in that first half from what I saw, so probably to be expected given its the first game of the season for them.

He's talking about Cissokho recapturing that form. Kinda like when we bought Joe Cole & hoped he'd recapture his previous form.

I like ya Alan but sweet jesus I get tired just reading your posts these last few months.

We all dream of a team full of Jordans and left backs.

Ironically, Alan and co are being harangued out of here for having their own opinion.

It is the nature in which their posts are being dismissed that has Alan posting in this nature.

Consider what Alan and Lloyd have been saying regarding the current owners ambitions and willingness to invest in players and also the managers ability to turn things around.

Do you see now why Alan is asking the questions that he is asking?

If the players that are needed are not signed, what does it mean? Is then ok to question the owners or the the manager?

The excuse of "the right players weren't available" excuse will can't wash this time around.

Guess he won't be going to FC Vatican so! :D

To be honest, they've been struggling to find a goalie since 2005. Think that's their main priority in the market tbh.

How the feck did Petrucci stay on!?

FT 4-2 Liverpool, Borini x2 Ibe and Morgan.

They were on fumes and some lousy ball retention but a win is a win and the first half pass and move was very pleasing. Rossitter is clearly a level above any other pure central midfielder at the club. You can see him as a thin Molby/Alonso mix in 5 years time

Does Fabio's performance buy him a bit of time with his detractors, especially when you consider Shelvey looked like um....a footballer at that level.

According to the Graphics, Suso plays LW and wears #17.

I think anyone can form an opinion any time they want to be honest.

However, I find the "black and white" nature of the whole thing really annoying and amusing at the same time. Nobody really knows what the club's transfer strategy is, what the transfer budget is, the entire picture of what signings were pursued, the entire picture as to why some signings worked out and some didn't, the factors which caused a particular player to choose another club over Liverpool, or whether despite what may have been printed in the press Liverpool were ever actually really in the hunt for player X or not.

I see other utterly hilarious simpleton assertions like "We have the TV money, we should be spending it, other clubs are!", or "Does anybody know when we receive the actual cheque for the new TV money?". LFC is a multi hundred pound a year business guys, run by people who understand the mechanics of running a business with that much revenue.

Me? I'm the type of supporter who wants Rodgers to do as well as I wanted Kenny to do, which is as well as I wanted Rafa to do, and Houllier before him. (I couldn't stand Hodgson for whatever reason, an anomaly in my mind). I don't judge the owners on transfers alone, as even though they might say things in public to win over supporters, it's not always that simple.

Liverpool couldn't sign Messi even if we had £150m to bid for him and an offer of £1m a week in wages.

IMO, Borini looked sharp when he returned at the end of last season. He also did pretty well for Italy in the summer.

He's no Suarez but I think he can do a job for us

When people ignore the context of stats, which I believe to be an incredibly powerful tool, or use stats badly, I rage.

The sample size of games without Suarez must be tiny. He'll have played in just about every game he was available for selection. I imagine the games he didn't feature in included the easy EL games last year, and the dead rubbers at the end of last season. In the tough games which ye lost, he was typically playing. But there haven't been a lot of those style of games where he didn't play.

That alone utterly devalues the statement which is supposedly 'backed up by the stats.' The sample sizes would have to be equal for that stat to even remotely have use. I remember a similar one about Modric a few seasons back.

    Smart, spot on post.
