Im also kindof in two minds.

What is the scenario insurance wise? I mean most policies specifically exclude track days. So what if someone plows into the back of me for instance?

It was a learner and they drove off saying Fcuk youuuuuuuu! out the window :pac:

They'll apologise and that'll be that but it doesn't happen

In fairness it's very very rare that two cars come together, it's a trackday not a raceday

Also lads bring out some very very expensive machines, there was a 360 Modena out on Thursday

I was looking at an 01 3.2 v6 the other day actually, in 156 form, cherry red. They are a beautiful car. Damn you 166 man, you have introduced me to the world of the Alfa!

    A 156gta? Where?

He is a corrupting git alright, the haus is jammed with 156's :pac: why not look for either an Alfa 166 3.2 or a Maserati Quattroporte.....? ;)

As for this trackday, if I can get a GTV breaking for spares then I'd be bringing the blue van :) anyone know where I can get a set of GTV hubs and wishbones? Not a hope of using 156 gear and I'm not losing my coilys!

Ok.Retracing my steps, I may have mixed up this brera which was a 3.2 with this 156 which wasnt. It was actually only a 2.5

For the non Alfa-educated amongst us, what do you mean by GTA, this? Not my bag!

Having never been to a trackday before, I am a little weird about driving without insurance there. I dont like that whole "soz and move on" attitude.

I'll see how I feel closer to the time, as I say, definitely in two minds!

Didnt drive this one or anything, just admiring her from afar!
I was reading up afterwards and saw that the 2.5 gets the same mpg as the 3.2 v6. That begs the question as to why anyone wouldnt buy the 3.2!!

(The one thing that modern alfas miss is RWD, especially in higher powered guise)

    166man doesn't own a v6 exactly.....
Agree on rwd. Alfa definitely need to go back to it and I can't wait.

The reason I only got the 2.5 v6 was because I couldn't find a gta in Ireland (except one that was a track day and wasn't for sale) and the issue of insurance on a 3.2v6 gta (that is definitely high performance sports car compared to a 2.5v6) as a 21 year old.

Ill take the 2.5 v6 for the moment.

1.33 or 1.4D in a car the size of an Avensis. Sounds like it'll be described as a REAL DRIVERS CAR. Although I did cruise passed it in a 13 year old Avensis TD with eleventybillion miles on it.

    New cars are grim.

Gta is the alfa uprated sports version of the 147 and 156.

If it was a brera v6, I'd prefer the busso as the brera v6 is a gm v6.

The 156gta was named after the alfa gta, which I would still love to own.

Made to appeal to its target audience I suppose. And more importantly make a fee quid for Toyota.

I was at a funeral in rural cork in 2007, had one of the first of the new model corollas, silver, luna spec. You'd swear it was a Lambo or something. Absolute strangers coming up asking what she was like etc. at a funeral.

If it was anything else they'd have been muttering flash tosser under their breath at the driver

Neighbour of my parents buys a new one whenever a new model comes out without fail. And always silver. The last one he had that wasn't a silver one was a red LE nearly 30 years ago!

No more than 6500 for that if even. It's very expensive. Considering what v6 busso's are going for these days. :D

Wasn't there a 156 GTA unregistered for sale for years too

There was a brera prodrive (I'd love one) up for 25000 a few weeks ago.
I don't know where it's gone too though.

Max even at the drift days the cars never come in contact and by Jesus they are some affair compared to the track days. It's very civilised, everyone gets room, no one stops a quicker car going through.
I'd feel very safe with the e60 out there.
The biggest thing to worry about is keeping it on the track and watching for brake fade into the likes of Ford, and turn 3 is contrary with how it tightens easy to unsettle the car there.
