Hmmm far too many parallels to be drawn there to be frank. Feel for the poor bollox to be honest. He is the product of placating and misleading fans.

Sounds like pool fans during the H&G era

yes i think rodgers has been great. he has us playing football. will he be a success i dont know but he has done much better with both the media and the fans compared to managers before him. when he was at swansea they where praised for playing the "barca football" and where said to be playing better football than arsenal. now we are playing better football than the "pretty football" arsenal.

as io said i dont know if he will win anything with us but so far he has been great

It's a bit early to be lavishing words like great on our manager ffs. To become a great manager you need to be winning major honours, not fannying around in 7th spot.

If we keep Suarez and sign Willian, I don't think fans can have can have many complaints about this summers' business.

No, I would agree with you. No real justifiable reason to complain.

No major reason to be jumping up an down with joy though.

With the numbers that have left the club, with the wage bill being reduced and us being neutral on net spend, a Willian type signing is pretty much an expectation.

Our fans were a lot angrier, and justifiably so, than this guy is.

My fear is that being us in 2/3/4 seasons time.

30 plus million, yes, without doubt.

15m or so, not overly. In the context of more players leaving than being signed or the wage bill continuing to be reduced, no.

When we are spending 40/50/60m net, then it will be completely put to bed.

I think the fee will be around the £30 million mark.

FSG have said that the club will be self sufficient, are we creating a £60 million surplus? I don't expect them to put their own cash in, thats not sustainable and in my view not the right approach.

Depends also if you factor in the Coutinho and Sturridge fees into last year or this year's budget. Considering this time last year we wouldn't spend the couple of million extra for Dempsey, it looks to me like Rodgers got an advance of £20m from this summer's budget in January.

That said, considering the new TV deal, the sales out (Carroll, Downing, Shelvey), the moving on of high earners (Reina, Carragher), and the growth in sponsorship revenue, you'd expect a big kitty this summer.

Feel bad for Arsenal fans in some ways, I think they're good supporters going through a rough time. But I feel worse for us and I'd take their CL spot off them if I could. I wouldn't wish that crushing feeling of an opening day battering on any supporters.

Well... One or two groups :)

just saying hwat he has been doing has been great

he got overpayed fringe players out of the club. he sold andy carroll and actually got 18 fricken million for him ffs. he brought in players like sturridge and coutinho. the players look happy and he has to be praised for his part in the suarez affair. so as a manager he has been great. he hasnt won anything yet and may not but he has been a great manager for us in his time here.

dimatteo won the champions league but i wouldnt call him a great manager by any imagination.

It doesn't matter diddly squat how much we spend really.

Once the deficiencies in the squad are adequately addressed.

Attacking options of Sturridge, Willian, Suarez, Coutinho, Aspas, Borini, Sterling, Ibe is probably our best attack in years.

Of course this all hinges on Willian actually signing.

I doubt many will be happy with just that tbh, infact I'd say most will be fairly annoyed if that was the case.

A top CB is a must even before a wing forward imo. Shouldn't have to rely on Toure at his age.

A CM is also a must if we want to compete for top 4/honours. Are Henderson/Allen good enough for 1st team action? Decent squad players that's all. Wouldn't get a sniff in Spurs/Arsenal/Chelsea + both Manchester midfields.

A decent sub keeper should also be signed

    Better than reading your nonsense.

All you do is call everyone delusional because they dont subscribe to your opinion.

I thought it was bad form on the fans behalf yesterday when they booed Cazorla after the game.

    Would expect better.

I dunno much about that, or the how many of them there's was, as my stream died before that, but yeah, bad form for the ones that did that. What a player.

In a crowd of 60k every home game you are going to get a large degree of "whoppers" (I think they call them) who change their views with the wind.

No chance any self respecting true Arsenal fan would have booed Cazorla

Our Fans wants us to Overpay for Players?

You would have thought after the Crapton we've spent acquiring Duds like Carroll, Downing, etc. that they would be more appreciative of the Club, being more Smart about our Money. I guess not!

A manager is ultimately judged on where the team finishes in the quest for honours, in addition to these days, qualifying for the CL.

Judging a manager by selling fees for players and wages saved is ridiculous.
    the players look happy
I could probably show plenty of footage of the players "looking happy" when Hodgson was here. Again fairly ridiculous.
he brought in players like sturridge and coutinho
Great signings thus far, no argument there. Feel the same about all the signings or just cherry picking?
he has to be praised for his part in the suarez affair
So far the club has handled it well. It's not confirmed whether he'll stay yet though so let's wait and see.

The general consesus on Willian would suggest theres a gulf of difference between blowing a stack on him, than Downing for instance.

If we're overspending a bit on the right players, I don't see an issue so long as we sign them!

Carroll was never the right player. Nor Downing.

Ya see this is whats wrong with the modern fan, you wouldnt be happy if we got Willian for 15 million but would be if we spent 30 million on him? That makes no sense. Would Coutinho be better player if he cost 30 million?

We spent 35 million on Carroll and 20 million combined on sturridge and countinho. It doesnt take a genuis to see which is the better deal.

Its about the right player not how much they cost.
