It's a bit early to be lavishing words like great on our manager ffs. To become a great manager you need to be winning major honours, not fannying around in 7th spot.

No, I would agree with you. No real justifiable reason to complain.

No major reason to be jumping up an down with joy though.

With the numbers that have left the club, with the wage bill being reduced and us being neutral on net spend, a Willian type signing is pretty much an expectation.

Depends also if you factor in the Coutinho and Sturridge fees into last year or this year's budget. Considering this time last year we wouldn't spend the couple of million extra for Dempsey, it looks to me like Rodgers got an advance of £20m from this summer's budget in January.

That said, considering the new TV deal, the sales out (Carroll, Downing, Shelvey), the moving on of high earners (Reina, Carragher), and the growth in sponsorship revenue, you'd expect a big kitty this summer.

just saying hwat he has been doing has been great

he got overpayed fringe players out of the club. he sold andy carroll and actually got 18 fricken million for him ffs. he brought in players like sturridge and coutinho. the players look happy and he has to be praised for his part in the suarez affair. so as a manager he has been great. he hasnt won anything yet and may not but he has been a great manager for us in his time here.

It doesn't matter diddly squat how much we spend really.

Once the deficiencies in the squad are adequately addressed.

Attacking options of Sturridge, Willian, Suarez, Coutinho, Aspas, Borini, Sterling, Ibe is probably our best attack in years.

Of course this all hinges on Willian actually signing.

A top CB is a must even before a wing forward imo. Shouldn't have to rely on Toure at his age.

A CM is also a must if we want to compete for top 4/honours. Are Henderson/Allen good enough for 1st team action? Decent squad players that's all. Wouldn't get a sniff in Spurs/Arsenal/Chelsea + both Manchester midfields.

A decent sub keeper should also be signed

A manager is ultimately judged on where the team finishes in the quest for honours, in addition to these days, qualifying for the CL.

Judging a manager by selling fees for players and wages saved is ridiculous.

So far the club has handled it well. It's not confirmed whether he'll stay yet though so let's wait and see.

The general consesus on Willian would suggest theres a gulf of difference between blowing a stack on him, than Downing for instance.

Ya see this is whats wrong with the modern fan, you wouldnt be happy if we got Willian for 15 million but would be if we spent 30 million on him? That makes no sense. Would Coutinho be better player if he cost 30 million?

We spent 35 million on Carroll and 20 million combined on sturridge and countinho. It doesnt take a genuis to see which is the better deal.

Its about the right player not how much they cost.

Think they would for United, Cleverly and Giggs have been playing there They didnt do too badly last year
