Average performance but we got the 3 points, which could be said about 75% of games last season.

Decent result against a good side away from home.

    Well...

    images?q=tbn:ANd9GcSAzjGXhIo_adE40xIp4AB9jUCkM6a85IlHlaxuLQxXSW37RDT-

What a fecking ideal start to the season.

We didn't play that well, but looked bloody sharp in the final 3rd. While solid over all, we looked frustratingly panicky at the back. Rio, Jones, Carrick and Clevlerley had a few dodgey moments, but Vida's no bull**** attitude calmed the nerves, Evra too was very good.

Valencia #25 >>> Valencia #7, we may just have Tony back. Van Persie is imperious. Welbeck had a good game and I would be saying that even if he didn't score that absolutely exquisite chip at the end, he was stupid for the Swansea goal though. Rooney I thought did well. He is clearly not fit, but he got about the place, a LOVELY assist for the goal, and I am hoping the lack of celebration for that goal was due to him being hacked to bits as he played the pass.

However. Cleverley was sloppy, if we had a better player in there we would have been untouchable today. The need for a CM continues and I really hope we buy this week.

Not many players in the game that can finish like that, the perfect chip over the keeper at such a close proximity to the goal, very messi-esque.

Derp derp come on United everything is golden nothing to worry about hooray hooray derp derp.

    Team in decline

Lost the best manager to ever grace the game

Playing a 39 year old in Midfield

2nd best player in a huff and wants to leave

3rd best creative player (Nani) also in a huff and wants to leave

no players bought over the summer

    Haven't bought a midfielder in 200 years

Written off by pretty much everybody........again this season

    Still top of the league

It's never as bad as people think, and it's never going to be as good as people would hope. We'll still be challenging at the end of the season

So Welbeck - Championship standard, not good enough eh?

Fúck off. And don't spout that shíte again.

Top the league, we're here to stay.

Yes everyone jizzing because he doubled the tally he got last season and gave away a goal by being an idiot....

The next game is the real test, average performance won't get us by, hopefully Kagawa will be back.

Rooney looked very keen to express his unhappiness.

Be interesting to see if he gets on the field against Chelsea.

What a brilliant start to the season, that's a fantastic result away to Swansea whatever the circumstances, never mind Moyes' first league game in charge when he's under big scrutiny.

RVP was his usual class self, two brilliant finishes. Valencia had a good solid game, was much more positive than he had been last season, maybe there's something in that number that helps him! I'm delighted for Welbeck too, the first was a poacher's effort, a typical strikers goal and good to see him in those positions where he should be as a forward. And the second was just a touch of brilliance, a lovely chip and almost the type of goal we're more accustomed to seeing him scoring than the first, a tap-in. Up to now you could call Welbeck a scorer of great goals rather than a great goalscorer(he has scored some clinkers in his time). I don't care what anyone says, if he was played up front week-in, week-out he would be a solid goalscorer, he has plenty of the necessary attributes to be and just need that scoring touch which only comes with regular starts in his favoured position and the confidence that comes with that and scoring. A fantastic option in the squad.

He did fcuk up for the Swansea goal though it has to be said!

    We've won 4 ****ing 1, incase you haven't noticed.

Jesus wept there's no pleasing people. Be happy for what it is. We don't always have to look for negatives.

Biggest positive for me today when comparing Moyes v Ferguson: his celebration.

Solid and simple double fist pump with fists at head height everytime.

Somehow after over 30 years of success as a manager Ferguson never really learned how to celebrate a goal.

I've come to the conclusion that you simply don't like him as a player and probably won't unless he finishes the season as top scorer or something. You always seem to see only the negatives in him, if you can't be happy with his performance this evening then I give up.

Was that Welbz or RVP's second goal? because for Welbz 2nd goal Rooney was taken down in the build up and looked like he was walking of a slight knock on the way back rather than not wanting to celebrate.

He scored two goals today, the second was a beauty, which shows me maybe he can start scoring now. But that's no reason to base your argument on one game. He scored 1 goal last season.

Some people in here are acting as if today was the last game of the season and Danny picked up the golden boot with that brace, there's a long way to go and anything can happen. He could be muck for the rest of the season now or he could continue on his good form of late and prove me wrong.

I thought Rooney was injured after the goal or something, but that picture really does look bad.

Jose will love that pic. Do any of the Russian teams have any money left?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 14,748 ✭✭✭✭Lovely Bloke

Even if he was injured, there have been goal celebrations in the past where players, even Rooney, have taken a knock in the build up and still managed to join in.

Rooney apologists here need to have a word with themselves and stop making stupid excuses for him. He couldn't have been badly hurt, otherwise he would have come off.

There is very clearly a disconnect in the squad.

Why is a full below par season not enough to criticise him for but one good performance is enough to vindicate him? It was a man's opinion no need to be obtuse about it. Im sure you have somewhat unpopular opinions without people saying
"Fúck off. And don't spout that shíte again."

He's a young player after scoring 2 in a tough away game, he deserves praise imo. Why keep focusing on his tally from last season, this is a new season and he started it with a bang. It was a poor return last year yes, but I don't see the benefit of going on about it at this stage.

The comments on him, I would read as simply being happy for a young player who had a tough time last season and took plenty of criticism for it. Starting the season off with 2 goals in his first game will no doubt do wonders for his confidence and hopefully spur him on to have a good season.
