Wilshere is fairly redundant I'd say.....class player in real life but for Fantasy footy he doesn't score, assist, is injury prone.....

Any recommendations for a 6.5 mid? Have Zaha myself at the moment but not confident on him playing full games all too often..

Wasn't impressed with Zaha last night or in the Community Shield. Commentators were trying to build him up but he did more bad stuff than good.

Wouldn't be loads of exciting names at that price but a good few that will score higher than Wilshere IMO.......Snodgrass, less fashionable players like Walters, Osman, Ramires......

Unless Wilshere suddenly explodes in the final third but I don't see that happening this year.

Edit: Sorry, you have Zaha, not Wilshere. I guess Zaha could be worth a shot, I personally wont be touching him.

Utd had a pretty poor pre season, and this has steered me away from Evra, which was one of my #1 defenders last year, and we all know the expensive situation with Van Persie.

I literally only 6.5 left though is my problem. I could downgrade Coleman who is on my bench to a 4.5 and use that 0.5 to get a 7.0 mid, more than likely Nolan.

6.5 options:
Snodgrass - 6 goals and 9 assists last season with 9 clean sheets.. Should be good for GW2 against Hull, but before that they Everton then they have Southampton and Tottenham so are likely to concede in 3 out of 4 weeks but shouldn't struggle to score in the first three..

Walters - 8 goals, 3 assists, and 12 clean sheets.. Liverpool, Crystal Palace, and West Ham in the first 3 weeks.. Likely won't score much for GW1 but could be useful for two and three..

Cabaye - 6 goals, 2 assists, 4 clean sheets.. Up against City, West Ham, and Fulham.. Likely to concede in all three..

Downing - 3 goals and 6 assists last season for the pool.. should be first choice in west ham.. Cardiff, Newcastle, and Stoke in the first 3 weeks so should be good for a few assists and maybe even a goal..

Edit: In the end I decided to downgrade Zabaleta to Lescott while Nastasic is out injured he should play, which opened up 0.5 to bring in Nolan

Mata is a risk for the first match due to the long traveling from Ecuador plus unsure whether Torres is a Mourinho player. I think he'll start Lukaku and Hazard.

Also Sturridge played a friendly behind closed doors the other night to improve his fitness and he scored twice (both pens).

Important to note that Mata didn't travel with the Spanish squad to Ecuador as he was not in the squad, neither was Torres, however Azpilicueta was.

I've redone my team but I have a few dilemmas.

Szczesny or Mignolet
Koscielny or Mertesacker
Navas or Silva
Ramires or Wilshire
And should I really start Anelka up front.

So far I've selected all of the players on the left but I'm going back and forward on them.

Thanks, on the Mertesacker one, he scored more points last season than Koscielny but I also think Kos is more likely to get bonus points than big Per as the German really doesn't seemed to be rated that highly by the media in England and I think that may feed into the bonus points thing. The Silva one is niggling at me, he's a consistent point scorer and I think Pellegrini's style will suit him but Navas is a real outlet on the wing and has the potential to score really well. I'd rather not start Anelka but I have nothing left in the budget, he's the best of the 5.5, I also have Coutinho and Hazard, I suppose I'd have to sell one of those to get a better quality striker.

anelka has had a really good preseason. can see him scoring well this season with some price rises. bargain @ 5.5 imo

Yeah Navas could well prove to be a better choice over the season, but I'm always wary of throw players that are new to the league straight in - normally takes them a couple of games to adjust. That's the only reason I'd start with Silva. If you don't have Mirallas, i'd look at him. That would give you some extra cash to upgrade Anelka.

Mert vs Kos is probably a toss up. Same price and both guaranteed to start!

Anelka I'm just not sold on at all, although a lot of people have him. I just can't see him being a consistent starter with Long and the other new signing that they have (can't remember his name).

Good call on that, from what I saw of City's pre season Navas did look pretty strong, both traveled to Ecuador for the friendly on Wednesday so it's tough to know what condition either are in. I was thinking of taking out Coutinho for the sake of getting an upgrade on Anelka, Mirallas being a good shout on a cheaper player who could do well, only concern is that Coutinho is likely to be Liverpool's main creative source this season and has been brilliant since joining Liverpool so that's one that could come back to kick me.

As you say, I also think he could end up being a rotational player, at his age I guess he almost has to be and he has strong competition for the starting spot anyway. I'd say by the time the deadline strikes I'll have taken Anelka out of the team.

Too much money spent on defence - also, you sure you want Evra with Utds tough opening fixtures.
Downgrade Vorm to a 4.5 or 4.0 gk.
Downgrade Ivanovich and Evra.
Downgrade Cuellar and Garrido to 2 x 4.0m defenders.

With the money saved by downgrading your defence you can upgrade your midfields/attackers.
Benteke would be better than Weimann up front.

Made some more minor changes..

Dropped Mertesacker altogether in favour of Coleman.. Think he will gather more points over the season..

This free'd up 1.0 which I used to upgrade Given to Boruc so I have a spare keeper just in case, and upgraded Terry to Cole for the DGW as I think Cole is the only assured starter for both games..

Cole is out after week one..
