looking for feedback on my initial suggestion. Any areas of improvements people can offer. I'm not sure how to post team so manual method for me unfort :( my main question is will toure start for liverpool as well. If not I'd swap him in first XI for Evans.

    starting XI

    Keeper:
    Mignolet - STK (H)

    Defense:
    Ivanovic HUL (H), AVL (H)
    Zabaleta NEW (H)
    Mertesacker AVL (H)
    Toure STK (H)

    Mids:
    Fellaini NOR (A)
    Arteta AVL (H)
    Mata CaptainHUL (H), AVL (H)
    Silva NEW (H)

    Forwards
    Bony MUN (H)
    Lukaku HUL (H), AVL (H)

    Subs:
    Evans SWA (A)
    Anelka SOU (H)
    Lucas STK (H)
    Guzan ARS (A), CHE (A)
I wouldn't pick fellani too expensive and will probably play deeper this year. Anelka is a better option than fellani this week imo. Mata hasnt featured in pre season big risk going for him ahead of hazard. Guzan at 5.0 for a second goalie is a waste of money. Wouldnt pick a utd centre back apart from vidic maybe. Basically you have wasted a lot of money with a lot of your picks I feel. My advice would be
1..Pick 3 of the 5 defenders you have picked and go for two cheaper options save atleast 3 million
2 downgrade guzan save 1 million
3 hazard instead of mata save 1 million
4 mirallas instead of fellani save 1 million
5 upgrade arteta to walcott and you should have a good 4-5 million to upgrade some other players

wilshere is not ff material imo, much like carrick, better options for your bench imo, anelka not guaranteed the start either considering Clarke's other striking options.

Kagawa and Rooney are not fit for Saturday v Swansea due to playing for Japan / No pre-season and as a result Januzaj at 5mill should be playing in the CAM behind RVP.

will work on another draft soon.

how your team going along ?

i'm not so much believer on walcott to be honest, think close to a must have, or Arsenal cover
and thinking about michu a lot, since he play in his fav position this year. maybe when easier GW's, pricey, when silva/ navas/ walcot there, but I have coutinho so each to their own
coutinho is much bigger gamble than mirallas, lukaku, anelka.
benteke has been good this pre season, good yes, but such good striking options out there, would not want him for season, dgw fair enough
i expect him to score at least 2 goal in gw1.
thats my theory at least. lol

    My current team is
Cech (DGW and prob bench for GW2/3)
    Coleman, Toure, Kos,
    Walcott, Hazard (c), coutinho, Miralles,
    dzeko, Soldado, Lukaku

Sub: Boruc, morrison, turner (who else), and a 4m def maybe brayford or someone who will play.

Then over gw 2/3 will look at dumping underperformers for players who are so lukaku, hazard, dzeko, are ones I will at. Then after gw 3 play wildcard to catch price hikes and work RVP and maybe bony/michu in as fixtures ease up.

Then again this game never goes to plan and hence why it is so addictive,

Welbeck is a lot more likely to play up front with RVP as part of a 2 than Januzaj off of him.

I know I keep going on about this but I cant see how kagawa cant play on sat at 1730. His game was over at 14.00 wed our time. What about when messi has a game for argentina that kicks off our time thursday morning 1.00 and can come back and play for barca on a sat. Have valencia, hernandez never played for utd after an international game. South American players have it more difficult than asian players as there is between 12-14 hours less recovery time. Zabaleta, aguero, tevez, david luiz, oscar, suarez etc can all manage it. If kagawa doesn't start its because moyes rates other players higher.

He might get a few minutes off the bench, but he won't start. It'll be a similar lineup to the one that played Wigan.

United are currently trying to convince Januzaj to sign a lengthy contract. Giving him 90mins would certainly help their endeavours.

Are you going to take a punt on him so?

I think I might. He's 5mill, and can always go to Brady/Koren/Morrison in GW2 if it back-fires. It's a game at the end of the day, and with a bit of risk it spices things up!

Haha fair enough, there's no point in trying to talk you out of it so let's hope he gets a hat-trick. Could see him picking up 2 minutes at the end too :pac:

IMHO, there is close to a zero percent chance that he will play 90 mins.

The more likely option is that he will not play, or get a small cameo, depending on the score.

He won't be regularly starting off the front with Rooney, Kagawa, RVP all capable of playing a #10 role, or on the wing with Nani, Valencia, Zaha, Young & Giggs. He is very talented, but he will not be playing regularly enough to even come onto the FPL radar this season.

He may feature when games have been wrapped at Old Trafford in the league, in the Carling Cup, or in the FA Cup depending on the draw.

That's a waste of a transfer imho, especially having a need to remove DGW players and/or jumping on early bandwagons. There are good options at 5.0 in Koren, Brady, etc, without losing a transfer or dropping points to change players of minor value in GW2.

    Transfers

    Player(s) in Player(s) out
    Mannone Jääskeläinen
    Turner Toure
    Silva Coutinho
    Sturridge Dzeko

    A) or B)

Cant decide which will score more points throughout the season. Leaning towards A.

Your front 3 and Coleman are about the only choices I could agree with.

United's defense should be avoided early on so doubling up is a massive risk. Luiz isn't fully fit so may not feature too prominently.

Bale isn't fit, regardless of whether he stays or not so is a waste of just under 1/8 of your budget. Fernandinho is not an FPL player and certainly not at 8.0. I like Schurrle but surely there's better options as he is a massive rotation risk which you cannot take when the rest of your midfield is unlikely to bail you out. AJ is a fantastic prospect for the future but while I can't talk MagicIRL out of playing him you really cannot afford to have him in your squad. The same goes for Colback who is moonlighting as an LB.

There is just far too many questions hanging over far too many of your players and I don't think you're getting much value for the budget you've spent.

The front 3 do look like a potent force with DGW this week as a positive aspect. I'd look at Arsenal and Liverpool for defenders/gk rather than United and just be aware that Luiz may not be fit to play.

    Draft no. 717

    fpldraft.png

Quinn on my bench should be back for GW2, wouldnt be playing him GW1 anyway, just needed a 4.5 cheapie to use on the very odd occasion. had Ivanovic in but took him out for Zaba, don't really fancy taking a hit after GW1 and i fancy City to keep a CS GW1 anyway. The tentative plan after GW1 is to take out Lukaku for Giroud, then eventually (when Villas fixtures get easier) get Benteke in for Giroud. Think my team has a pretty solid look to it, have doubled up on Liverpool defense which i'm not sure many are doing, but hey no risk no reward (remember Stoke last year??). Anyway we'll see how that goes. Just can't wait for the whole thing to get started now

What do people think of this? I had Van Persie & Gayle/Chamakh but swapped to Giroud & Soldado.

    Szczesny ( Davis)

    Coleman Kompany Toure (Chester, Brayford)

    Silva Walcott Hazard Mirallas (Morrison)

    Giroud Soldado Lukaku

I know I will have to upgrade Davis to a 4.5 gk and will replace Lukaku if it looks like there will be a lot or rotation in the Chelsea forwards

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,129 ✭✭✭✭Oranage2

Most likely the team I'm going with so any suggestions welcome

    mignolot
    terry kos lescott
    mirellas nolan walcott hazard
    lukaku rvp anelka

    davis colback gabbidon chester

The only thing I'm thinking before kick off is dumping terry for toure or Coleman, replacing nolan with ramires and then upgrading anelka.

Though I might just wild card after game week one and try to save myself from the price drop get the jump on the guys doing it in game week 3.

Nice team. Your starting 11 is almost identical to mine bar Dzeko and Mignolet. I'll weigh in on a few points because your team is quite similar.

I am slightly concerned about Toure's (have him too) injury record and I've a feeling the 5.0 is a justified price with the risk that's associated with him. It could possibly be an early transfer out.

Giroud was a real pain last year when I had him. He's prone to scoring in patches but he's also prone to the odd yellow/red due to his physicality. He's had a good preseason by all accounts but I don't think Arsenal suit his style of play at all. Watched him in the Emirates at one stage against the might of Mickey T last year and I don't think he suits the passing possession game. He needs crosses in to the box.

I was mulling over a Man City striker/midfielder and while I expect them to win against Newcastle in the first game, I can't commit to anyone. I think it's possible that Pellegrini will start Dzeko in a 4-4-2 with Negredo but I would be concerned about rotation should he not score or have a decent game in his first match. Then again he could explode and the bandwagon will begin. Could well be a good punt.

Any thoughts? Are people going to try and get Bale in now since it looks like he's staying put?

I don't see Bale being as good this year to be honest. Soldado and Defoe up front will be nicking a lot of the goals from him. If he stays put, which i doubt, he will probably score about ~190 this season at a guess.

    Edit: Colback??

defenders and forwards look good, midfield not so much. i'm not sure two 4.5 mids is the best idea, and even then the two you have are not likely to do very much in terms of goals/assists

I'm still trying to nail down those two 4.5s and I agree that my mid is week. I have three top end players and 2 extras. Suppose its the price of having RVP in the team. I am terrified of starting without him though, he's single handedly won me my work leagues the last two seasons. Its far easier to take the gamble with a poor mid and have him in than to try and tear the team apart later to accommodate him. Well that's my thinking anyway.

the last two seasons are the last two seasons though. RVP is pushing 30 now, Fergie gone, and there's alot of quality new strikers for alot less. i honestly cant justify 14m. the rest of your team suffers too much

Would Agbonlahor be a good choice this week as villa are playing 2 games this week?

I do see what your saying and I agree the price tag is outrageous but if he hits the ground running and scores 7 goals in the first month people will have to scramble to get him in. If he doesn't its a nice simple operation to downgrade him to whoever is flavor of the month and then re invest the difference in mid field. I think the risk of not having him is greater than the risk of having him. I suppose time will tell which of us made the right call.

I've gone for Benteke (and will prob hold onto him for a while) but I'd have Weimann ahead of Agbonlahor

Most people you see with Benteke also have a Arsenal or Chelsea defender . Don't get that .
