    Folks,

Any ideas of options for a lift and winter storage around the Dublin area? The boat is a 8.5m motoryacht. Located in Malahide but they would be around €1200 for four months. We've no trailer anymore so the boat would need to be chocked in a yard.

    Options being considered are
    - Rush/Rogerstown
    - Howth
    - Greystones?

    Any suggestions welcome

Greystones is out, they've no crane or yard yet AFAIK and I'd be very weary of leaving it so close to the wall when the next winter easterly gale comes through...

    What about Poolbeg?

You could look further afield to Waterford Boat Yard or New Ross Boat Yard, both are good yards well sheltered. You could make a nice weekend trip of it. Boat yards have the facilities to prepare your boat for next season.

Yeah I emailed greystones but judging by what I saw passing a few months back they still just have pontoons and a portacabin only

Does Poolbeg have storage? It's pretty tight down there by the docks. I'll get in touch with them anyway.

Well we've a few things to do over the winter. Just varnishing and the like but we'd prefer somewhere within an hour of Malahide if possible.

    You could also consider Carlingford?

Howth only has a stationary crane so boat on trailers only I'm afraid.

Could be an option. Their prices look pretty good.

Yeah we did our last clean and antifoul there. They're very good value but I thought we might need a trailer for a longer stay.

I don't think Rush/Skerries have a crane they just rent one between them when lifting out.

Yeah they do. You need a trailer for this as far as I know as the crane wont lift it back to a cradle.

Try Simon Salmon, in MGM Dunlaoghaire.

+1 for New Ross Boatyard, plenty of space, facilities, expertise and excellent security, all the commercial guys and trawlers use there partially because of the drydock, but mostly down to cost.

Have you tried BJ in Malahide? They also have a yard in Bangor which might be cheaper.

The yard in Malahide is run by the marina and not BJ. But they do run the yard in Bangor.

You can use the cradle also but it's short term and you have to pay by the day.

Defo the cheapest lift out in north Dublin, shame its no use to the op.
