Looks like an excellent setup has been devised with the Talent camps in Rockwell recently. Anyone have the U-19 and U-20 squads or a link to them?

Migthy I think, tbh, great burst of speed but if you did a good kick and chase and cut down the space he didn't pose as big a threat and kicking was not the lads strong point

Check Munster website. An extended squad for 19s was named there sometime early May. nothing on 20s
Im not so sure on Rockwell. It is ok but was the improvement really that evident last season??

Oh Mighty Okafor. He's u/age for 20s im fairly sure but just not strong enough for the squad though im surprised none from Bandon made the 19s or 20s squad considering they were all Ireland 19s champs last season

Will u20's this year be the equivalent of the 19's or 21's in terms of competition structure? 21's I'd presume but just wondering

    Yeah, found it.

Munster U19 Squad: Brendan Quinlan (Rockwell College), Mike O’Donnell (Crescent College), Liam O’Connor (CBC), Denis O’Connell (Rockwell College), Sean McNulty (Rockwell College), Jack Boland (Glenstal Abbey School), Frank Bradshaw Ryan (Ard Scoil Ris), Aaron Hogan (Youghal), Darragh Power (Waterpark), Michael Murphy (PBC), Ben Kilkenny (St. Munchins), Cormac Blake (Crescent College), Jay Kavanagh (Crescent College), Connell Dodd (Waterpark), Paul Obande (Ard Scoil Ris), Jack Cullen (Saracens/Exiles), David O’Mahony (Rockwell College), Dylan Horgan (Highfield), Tomas Quinlan (CBC), Edward O’Keeffe (St. Munchins), Robbie Deegan (Ard Scoil Ris), JJ O’Neill (Crescent College), Steven McMahon (Rockwell College), Stephen Fitzgerald (Ard Scoil Ris), Eathon Moloney (Garryowen), Kevin O’Keeffe (Glenstal Abbey School. Reserve Squad: Tobi Ademakin (Garryowen), Jack O’Halloran (Ard Scoil Ris), Luke O’Halloran (St. Munchins), Idris Rqibi (Skibbereen), Jonathan Keane (Crescent College), Gareth Molloy (Waterpark), Brion Moriarity (Ard Scoil Ris), Aidan Moynihan (Rockwell College), Sean Cremin (Kanturk), Eoin O’Carroll (Tralee), Fionn McGibney (Garryowen), Shane McAuliffe (CBC).

Good to see a few lads from the clubs set up in there.

These camps will definitely be of benefit, it might not be immediately obvious, but down the line it will definitely pay off. Good to see a more professional job being done with the developement squads these days. The camps were all well organised and intense I'm told.

I can't speak for the school players, but I think there are stronger players not on the list club wise , 2 or 3 bandon players , the clonmel 8 bruff have 1 highfield 1 center , to me the garryowen lads are lucky to be on it , the Skibbereen lad never played with Skibbereen once this year heard he is good though ,

Some might be overage for 19s and underage for 20s. Some are unlucky not to be in squad but every year there is always loads unlucky not to be in squad.
Idris is very good and im sure he was injured a bit which is why he didn't play much with Skibb.
There is always plenty in the clubs not in these squads who should be. Schools always seem to get 50-50 decisions....
Nenagh are unlucky not to have a few looked at for both the 19s and 20s squads

Whats the standard of u21s club rugby in Dublin like ?

  • Registered Users Posts: 425 ✭✭CGD

Whats the standard of u21s club rugby in Dublin like ?

Standard would be very good in the Premier League with UCD & Lansdowne being the best 2 but plenty of other clubs such as Trinity and a few others improving as well. Many of the future stars will be involved in 21's or 20's as it is this season. Dublin is lucky in the fact that is gets players from all over the country coming to college in Dublin and they naturally all want to play at a decent level

Hmm what about the slightly smaller clubs like Blackrock , Terenure , St Marys etc ?

in the league those clubs tend to be average but when it comes to the mccorry cup the cup rugby brings out the best in all them

They wouldn't have been competitive the last few years in the league at all but are all trying their best to improve the setups and be more competitive but will take a few seasons for them to catch up to the rest.

Munster 19s play Exiles in Reading on Sunday. Should be good prep for Interpros in few weeks time.
Any news on youths league structures yet for the provinces? Any changes to previous seasons?

And Leinster U19 are playing the Exiles the following Sunday in St Mary's. As far as I know Leinster Youths are playing the Exile U18 before that at the same venue

Thats a good win for the Exiles, they would normally not be as strong at 19's when the provinces combine clubs and schools and the Exiles might lose a few players. Was the Munster side at full strength?

Hard to say poor from Munster if you haven't seen the game and only know the result and nothing more

Looks like Munster are going to be the only province playing at even numbers this season with the rest at 17s/19s. Hopefully if true Munster will still have teams entering all Ireland at 17s/19s as that will be only grades for all irelands

  • Registered Users Posts: 39 Dropkick22

, 13 of the starting highfield team that played bandon in the munster final had a second yr at 19,s Sundays well are in the same boat they are now playing 21,s
their teams at 18,s are not as strong so how would teams qualify for the 19,s competition ?

well then those Highfield and Sundays Well sides will be ok at 20s with those 19s players from last season plus some schools players and players from UCC, CIT who may play with them
Their sides at 18s this year will be last seasons 17s
I have no idea how the qualification for 19s will work. I guess whoever wins the 18s may enter 19s and then will get some players who didn't play 18s to play in all Ireland series

I hope the switch to 18,s etc works , I hope more teams will play in these comps the season starting!!! Have west munster a league this year?
I've heard dolphin have got a decent amount from schools , 20,s in south munster looks competitive, gaps closing amongst the city teams and hopefully bandon can hang on to what they hand last year , add ucc to the mix and should be interesting , there is no cit under 20,s team
