Then it doesn't take into account that Protestants are much more likely to be republican then Catholics are likely to be Unionists even if we are talking a small percentage.

Thats absolute nonsense, a significantly higher % of the catholic population are more unionist inclined than % of protestants who want a UI

Playing empire has really backfired upon the English. Sinn Fein are a rising power in the Republic and are the biggest political party on the island of Ireland winning continued democratic mandates. In a United Ireland Sinn Fein will dominate Irish politics.

    Oh dear.

I see the clouds gathering. Quote war on the horizon.

    Anyway....

I think its great. Anti-Irish bigots fighting Anti-Irish bigots light.
If I was there and had a deckchair I'd be having a can and placing bets on number of heads cracked.

    Win-win.

Yaaay, that's just what we need right now - a civil war!

Thats a very simplistic analysis. In the event of a UI there will be a re allignment of political forces. It's impossible to predict where the balance of power will lie or what new parties/alliances emerge

The lunatics running the asylum!!! SF will never get into power on Kildare street. They have no credible economic or development policies other than tax those with a job and give it to those without a job and without a leaving cert.
If it's a choice between your cited 'lunatics' or the current arse-scratching idiots, I'll go with the former.

'Terrorists' as some have called them sitting in the assembly is no excuse whatsoever.

These people have been democratically elected by the people.

The problem is that loyalists, and many in unionism never wanted democracy in the 6 counties, and will not accept it.

€50 says Scotland will still be in the union in five years time.

A United Ireland will kill off Sinn Fein, they are one trick ponies. Take away their main reason for existence and no one will want them any more.

If they managed to get into power down here we wouldn't have running water or electricity after about a fortnight.

Bunch of idiotic hate-filled goons. Keep your Nordie pissing-match up in your sectarian hellhole.

It's also worth pointing out that the likes of Willie Frazer should be ignored he talks of the 1 million Protestant unionists in Northern Ireland when the last census should there to be closer to 850,000.

It should also be noted that in most countries, Willie Frazer would have been sectioned years ago. He was having a rally (read, 3 people) at Facebooks Dublin offices last week. Apparently thye're repressing protestants.

Apparently part of his latest bail conditions is an undertaking to stay off social media. That seems to being ignored by the bould Willie. Some of the stuff on there would be comedy gold, were it not for the fact that he actually believes this nonsense.

Police need to aggressively bust heads here no matter what ''alienation' occurs in loyalist communities as a result.

I lived in Belfast for years and have many friends that suffer inconvenience and even intimidation year-in, year-out on both sides of the community.

Just batter the c+nts off the streets and stop pandering to their ridiculous approximating of arrant lawbreaking with "culture".

They have to bring back the rubber bullets. Either the rioting loyalists run Belfast or the police do. Which is it going to be?

It's a disgrace Willie! To make matters worse, all the traffic lights in Belfast are now displaying the wee green man on a despicably frequent basis. Quite clearly, this is supposed to symbolise an IRA man. It's a disgrace that Protestants should have to look at this. Therefore, I smashed each and every one I came across. Take that Provo traffic lights! FGAU WATP No Surrender!!!!

In fairness there's scum on both sides, be they nationalist or loyalist. That said, its easy enough for us to say "why can't they all just let it go, they're living in the past etc.", but this attitude really is part of who they are, its bred into them from an early age. Its a case of if you're not from there, you simply don't understand, and probably never will.

Exactly. All the political/sectarian views, these kind of people have, have not been thought of by themselves they are tought these ideas since they were children.

You really don't know what you're talking about.

There is not the faintest chance of Scotland becoming independent at the forthcoming referendum.

Sinn Fein governing a mythical United Ireland? And we're supposed to embrace that?

You're living in utopia but good try anyway.

Unreal. How many times does this have to happen a year?

Give a fair five minute warning for anyone protesting to get off the streets and then start moving in with tear gas, batons, dogs and water cannons. Operate with zero tolerance and see how many of these protests turn violent again.
"Mr Nesbitt said those loyalists who engaged in violence were aiding a republican cause."
What planet is this Unionist leader on? These leaders miss the point and are deluded fools, trying to turn something into their own agenda rather than for the good of the people. They should be tried for inciting hatred.

Culture of rioting every year during the summer holidays.

In this vid(2nd on page) a few seconds in, a loyalist rioter dropped what looked like a heavy bollard on his foot and limped away. Looked quite funny ;)

Meanwhile, the Apprentice Boys parade passed off peacefully in Derry once again this year. Scumbags of all persuasions in other areas should take note.

Well I hope the Fleadh Cheoill goes ahead in Derry but its not looking good, there could be a reaction against fleadh too when it kicks off.

How sad is it to see teenagers fighting for support of a royal family and a system that sees them as automatic lowers? Hardly the rebellious behaviour expected of someone that age, they can't all be that dull are they?

Fierce angry shower of lads aren't they? Do you think it's because they're not getting the ride at home?

I wonder if they moved the "cultural celebrations" to the depths of winter would we have so much rioting?. Doubt it.
