    That's very nicely done.

Yeah, surprisingly pulls it off (though the level of lowering is a bit tasteless).

Had the same problem with the MGF as the suspension wouldn't settle correctly unless it was driven

One of my house mates did Route 66 over the last two weeks. It looks like a fantastic trip.

Route 66 sounds great plus I really liked Chicago the times I've been there. HOWEVER, an Impala (as a hire car) would be about as exciting as getting an Avensis or Octy. True it's likely to be a 3.5L V6 but power output is unlikely to be much more than 200bhp which will not be that exciting. When I've had the option, I've tried to get the equivalent Buick (or Lincoln), not more powerful but more comfortable interior.

Hand thing with major US hire companies is that if you don't like the car, find a fault and pop into any of their branches. You can always keep what you have if they've nothing better but you might sneak a significant upgrade.....

Well actually it's a 3.6 V6 and while it isn't as nice as the V8 I had in the Crown Vic the last time I was here it is much faster. The engine is actually excellent (I have only driven it about 60 miles so far). It has a super high compression ratio, even higher than my Levin  and as a result it makes 303hp and is silky smooth (much smoother than any other V6 I have come across). With that power output it gives the car a power to weight ratio of 177.64hp per 1000kg. That's almost 18hp per ton more than my Levin and 24 more than the yard stick around here (e46 325ci :P). Now the slush-box does hold it back a bit but it is a 6 speed so realistically it doesn't slow it down much!
To put it into prospective the only mustang to have more power per ton is the GT500 (though admittedly it has a lot more power than it and also the other Mustang models)

Well there's me properly slapped down; well deservedly so for assuming it was an entry level model. Definitely the interior would beat a Crown Vic and sounds like a good engine package for NA. Is it the new 2014 (based off same infrastructure asInsgnia, LaCrosse, Saab 9-5)?

The interior isn't amazing in it either:P.

I'm not sure what the 2014 model will be based on but I would say it'll be a bigger platform than that. I could be wrong.

The absolute win moment watching a real rs4 overtake an rs4 tdi, both at full chat and listening to that v8 roar off into the distance leaving that tractor screeching behind

I think the Yanks just have different views on interiors. They're all based on GM epsilon II platform albeit Insignia is a short wheel base version - not sure why.

Should I be expecting another visit now or do I need to check the bushes outside my house now?
