Have been doing a lot more lidl shopping lately.
One thing I ve had to stop getting there is the bananas . The bottom half of them seems to go rotten straight away.

Their Mediterranean wraps are even better!

Love their pitta breads. I tried the Mediterranean wraps but I was not sure what was the best way of heating them. Put them in the microwave as per the packet but they were a bit tough. Can you give a bit of advice here as I would love to try them again.

Ah here, what have Aldi done to their Savour Bakes Cream Crackers?!
They used to be delicious; exactly like Jacob's, then they weren't available in shops for weeks. They've since made a return but are horrible now!
Too brown, hard in texture and not a bit creamy tasting.

Having coloured hair, I've been using L'Oreal Elvive Colour Protect for years now, both the shampoo and the conditioner.

It was always one of those purchases that I refused to be swayed on.
I could swap all my food shopping from Tesco to Aldi, but I wouldn't switch my hair-care stuff.

I did try Aldi's "Carino Provive Shampoo" and "Carino Provive Sleek 'n' Shine Conditioner"; a bargain at €1.19 each. (L'Oreal shampoo and conditioner are €4.99 each).

I'll be honest and say Aldi's shampoo isn't great. My hair felt drier after using it BUT the conditioner is great.

I used to think I needed the special colour-protect conditioner, but really you don't. It's only for the mid-ends of your hair and I found it great.
    So there's a saving of €4.99!

    Chuffed :)

I just LOVE rummaging around Aldi and Lidl to find products that are similarr, or different,to the mass market stuff in The multiples.

I use Aldi most of the time.

Rhubarb and vanilla jam, it's the cats pyjamas. I use this mixed with Greek yogurt too. Yum.
Duneen luxury layer yogurts, now called specially selected. Gorgeous.
Tea Bags Green label Mc Graths, fab.
    Whole wheat penne
Carton of chopped toms, very saucy! Very tasty.
    Potato salad
    Brie, the cheapo, it's great.
    Chilled pizza
Knock off rice crispies and weetabix. Absolutely no difference.
    Multiseed sliced brown bread. Gorgeous
Eggs, fine, but check they are intact!
    Porridge.
    Quiche.
Confession...I get the Cottage Pie and pass it off as my own! but I do put parsley and a bit of butter on top before serving, and decant into a nice dish before heating. Will i ever be forgiven? They are yum. Processed, I know.. But hey so are pizza and quiche. But sometimes convenience is great.

Can't think of anything else at the mo.

Agree about the tea and pizza.
I was an avid Lyons' tea drinker until I swapped to McGrath's and now I can't tell the difference.
The chilled pizzas are nice, but the last time I had one (Four Cheese), I thought it was far too creamy and not cheesy enough.

How do you decant it? Please say you do it when frozen. I tried doing it with a thawed one and it was a complete mess - the next door dogs had a great dinner that evening :D

I have decanted both the frozen and the chilled Cottage pie into my fave dish.

Trick with the chilled one is to use a fish slice and cut the thing in half first (talking about the large version here). Then lift one half gently into your dish. Scrape up the bits left and push under the half you have decanted. Same with the other half. Press it all down into the dish and tidy it up. Important to have a dish the same size or a teeny bit smaller than the product.

I've given all my secrets for passing this off as my own now! I sometimes put grated cheese and some Parmesan in top aswell. Can't beat it, it's the meatiest, most solid and tasty cottage pie I've tried, including the so called luxury brands.

    Ah, well :(

    Hilarious.

The POINT is I WASN'T unwittingly supporting Ballymaloe because I knew it wasn't made by that shower, and you somehow found it amusing.

    Whatever.

I'm right and you're wrong. It's factually made by Follain. Simples :D

Aldi Cream Cheese is just as good as Philly and at a great price of around 69c per tub.

Haven't tried that yet but I tried their Cheese Triangles and found them very bland.

cheese triangles in general are not the definition of gourmet food - and given a choice I'd personally prefer bland than pungent when it comes to substandard cheese.

I didn't say they were gourmet food?
And you're in the minority as most people who like cheese would prefer at least SOME flavour..the Aldi ones are completely bland.

I'm a fairly recent convert to Aldi. I noticed when I was working near one I could get enough for the week or two big bags of shopping for 40 quid yet a buy enough for one dinner in Tesco and somehow end up spending 15 euro.
Hate to say it though, I do think their veg can sometimes be poor and twice I have had to throw out chicken before the use by date as it stank.

I am a convert to the super six, chocolate, fajita wraps, wine, pancetta, tins of tomatoes, peas tuna, re thai curry. I think they do better on the non -perishable items, although I have had the fillets and they are

I was a Super Six devotee, but lately have found that the celery will be solid halfway up the stalk, the lemons go off rapidly, the kiwi fruit never ripen, etc. Agree that Aldi's vegetables can be poor.

I'm addicted to the Lidl's American brand toffee popcorn. I think there's cocaine in it!

I got a tub of Strawberries and Cream Ice-Cream (in the red tub) in Aldi today (Don't know if it's Specially Selected) and it's down from €2.79 to €1.39 which is great because Aldi don't generally reduce prices. (Well they don't really need to, but you know what I mean!)
