85 strokes for 36 points around Rathcore today. Two rounds in a row where it was 11 over on front 9 and 2 over on the back 9! Bit of a tight hamstring so probably stretched out by time of the turn (that's my excuse).

    1 Birdie
    7 Pars
    7 Bogies
    2 Doubles
    1 Triple (grrrr)
    Putts - 33
    FIR - 93%
    GIR - 39%

Hoping for any kind of a cut as I'm on 12.5.

Just done the results you got ur cut fair play and you won cat 2.fair play

I'd 32 points striking the ball alot better after the lesson the other night .got caught out a few times with the distances hitting it further since the lesson
The categories for your handicap and the categories for the results are different .for the results cat 1 is up to 11 Hc.cat 2 is 12-18 and cat 3 is 19 and up

Glad to hear you enjoyed. Just out interest what tees where you off? The yellows?

Yeah we were off the yellows and to be honest it was just to short for me really. I hit driver on a few holes that really weren't but only for it was a classic and we were trying to post a number.

I figured it was yellows. Totally different course off whites or even greens. Hopefully you can go back and play off the back tees.

After getting my first ever handicap last week I added to it with a .1 today :)
31 points in my first ever open (at my home club). Playing the weekly competition in the morning to so pin position knowledge should help me greatly!
Lots of stupid shots. I am trying to build up a solid pre-shot routine and it is happening, just slowly. Still have a thousand things in my head while swinging. As that becomes more natural it will ease up. A trip back to the pro to check in next week I think.

37pts in the weekend stableford at Grange Castle. Strange start with a Single and Double Bogey at 1st & 2nd but then chipped in from around 70ft for a Birdie on the 3rd and then followed that up with a long putt from off the green on the 4th for a second birdie. A solid par 3 at the 5th had me ticking over nicely but then my game struggled once again 2 holes later with an aggressive birdie putt on the 7th resulting in a 3 putt bogey. A couple of triple bogeys and another double killed my score as I shot an 87. I just seemed to hit some very poor shots out of the blue which I can only put down to poor concentration. A real positive from my round was getting up and down from around the green and this is down to the Callaway forged wedge that I picked up a while back. Really like the feel of the club and have a growing confidence with it.
Only 5 points off from winning it and got cut .3 and now down to 16.0 so quite happy with game at present. Looking forward to playing a few opens during August so hopefully my game will continue to improve.

Headfort Old Course this morning for me. I booked it again on golfnow.ie and used the copon and the two of us got it for €11 each.

The course is in need of a bit of TLC i feel, the tee-boxes were very poor and a flat lie with good grass were hard to find on many of the tee boxes. The bunkers and surrounds were also in poor nick as were the fairways which I suspect haven't been cut since Friday. The greens were consistently slow, but good.

As for my golf, It was a bad day at the office shooting 84 in what was a pretty awful performance and no real excuses. In future I'm going to get my ass up out of bed earlier and warm up before I play.....Next time ;)

    All in all 7/10.

83,81 for me today in laytown scratch cup
Quite a few lost balls so lots of triples and doubles, its a course you'd have to play a few times to know your lines

Played the men's competition on Junior Captain's Day at Ballykisteen on Sunday. Singles strokes off the white tees. My driving was terrible and no part of my game was good. Went round in 93 gross, 74 nett and the only highlight was parring the last 2 holes.

This is the third time this year I've missed the buffer zone by 1 shot. Doh!

98 blows in minor scratch cup in tipp town this evening. 3 fat 8's wrecked an ok card. Played well, wrong shot choices greenside cost me on those bad holes.

Played Moate on Sunday, had a battling 32pts and while it was an improvement on recent rounds my game still wasn't there. Played another competition there on Monday of the back tees and my ball striking was much better all round from tee to green. Turned in a card with 40pts off 15 (83 strokes) and in one stretch from 6th thru 16th I was just 2 over par which is super golf for me.

I won the competition and get cut to 14.0 and am absolutely delighted with that.

37 points yesterday in a stableford singles.
Started like it was going to be more of the same sh1te (double then bogey, double caused by a beautiful 7 inch chip and then missing a 4 footer) but somehow turned it around and went on a par run of 11 pars.

Was level par for the back nine but finished 5,5,5 which was disappointing, but there was a fair old wind blowing so not too bad.

    72% Fairways
    39% greens
    31 putts
    11 pars
    6 bogeys
    1 double

Kept a six off the card, which was nice.
Not even a hint of a cut :(

Stupid idea to play golf at 7.30 this morning after playing yesterday, have to go in to work now :)

How is the course playing?. There this weekend

I'ts playing well, some of the crazy run has gone with the rain we have had but its still firm.
Greens are great, very true and very fast, practice your 4 footers back and dont be above the pin on any of them.

We were off the whites and I hit driver 6 times, would be less off the blues as you are just bringing bunkers into play.

    62% Fairways
    39% greens
    32 putts
    2 Birdies
    10 pars
    3 bogeys
    2 doubles
    1 triple

Finished 69 net - 2 under SS which got me cut 0.4.

Making me 9.2 and officially single figures for the first time!
(Been hovering between 10 and 11 for about 5 years now)

Went for a quick round yesterday, ended 30 odd shots over par unfortunately, in my defense its the third game i've played ever, birdied the last though which was a big boost!

28 points in Mallow yesterday, short game costing me big time. Too many wedges and too much indecision, putting the putter under pressure all the time.
If anyone is living near there now is the time to play it. Not a member there or anything but the course is in supreme order.

Played there two weeks ago on the first night of the rain and thought it was in great condition. Greens are tricky though.......look for the River!!

Played Moate again today, well on Thursday actually. Started well enough and turned with 18pts but then the rain came bucketing down and I didn't play well in it finishing up with 30pts.

Played my second ever round of golf in Rathbane this morning. Went around in 107 (pretty woeful), 21 points off 18 ( don't have a handicap at the moment so we just used 18 as a benchmark). Hugely enjoyable round though, mixed with the good, the bad and ugly :D think I'm officially hooked now.

Rathbane is a great course to learn how to play the game. It has a bad reputation amongst members of other clubs in the Limerick area but I'd never have taken up the game if that facility wasn't available. 107 for your second round ever isn't woeful in the slightest. Plenty of people out there take a long time to break 100.
