With a name like Wayne Gooney I would assume he is talking about Utd. Can't see that happening myself.

His avatar suggest Arsenal though, thats what has me confused.

IS Wayne Gooney saying that Cesc is going to Arsenal or United?

Was confused about that too.. I'm guessing from the "Gooney" it's Arsenal?

    Sounds like absolute horse excrement.

(Imagine it was true though and was announced this morning, that'd change the spirits in here :pac:)

Hmm so someone with an insight available only to Wenger, Gazidas and the Barca hierarchy - and nobody else - has come up with the twitter username Wayne Gooney and is spilling the beans on a transfer the like of which the world has never seen before.

So what do we think? Wayne Gooney is really Sandro Rosell or Dick Law?

Sounds like it might be true.

This quote from Wenger if true is very worrying -

"Some clubs acted very early so the choices were reduced and there is more competition coming from France with Paris St-Germain, who buy big players for huge amounts of money, so it's tough, difficult and slow.

If that is the case Arsene why didn't you start earlier? You have the dosh.
Maybe my whole "scam" jibe is not far off the mark.

Thats boll0cks you don't mind losing out to the likes of PSG, Monaco, City, Chelsea etc but losing out to Napoli to get a world class player is very worrying indeed.

Its gone beyond a joke at this point. I can understand people not being worried, kind of, but its doubtless that the transfer window has been handled appallingly. Make up whatever crappy excuses you like but to have no players of note and have spent 0 on the 8th of August (and more than likely the same come the first day of the season) is just negligent. The tide is definitely turning against Wenger.

9 days til the start of the season, sure that's grand.

We cant go into the new season with a squad weaker than last???? What the hells going on?

It will be a very hostile crowd at Villa next week if nothing is done by then, fans are losing patience now and rightfully so.

If we have so much money to spend and if we intend to spend it and mount a challenge for the EPL.

    1. We identify our targets early.
    2. We sign them.
    3. We bed them in pre-season so that the team has shape and are ready from the get-go.
    4. We use them all pre-season on tour, Emirates Cup etc.
    5. We are ready for CL play-off and EPL.

    We are not -

    1. Sitting on our hands with 9 days to go waiting for a player who might not come.
    2. Complaining that other teams got the drop on us because they have money too and went to work earlier than us.
    3. Wondering what to do next.
    4. Driving the entire fan base demented.
    5. Praying that it will be alright on the night.

Fail to prepare, prepare to fail.

I really cant believe we havent strengthened at all at this stage. Season starts in just over a week and the squad is paper thin. We need at least 3 signing before the end of the window. I really cant understand why Wenger et all have waited till the very end. I will be surprised come 1st September If we have signed 3 first team players tbh. Please suprise me Wenger!

I feel like organising a deadline day party. Like having exam results. Either be celebrating or miserable at our failure

Just clarify on Wayne Gooney's spoofer credentials, here's a quote from the Cesc interview:
“My dream is to play here,” he said. “I’ve never thought about leaving. I am at the best club.

"I've not thought of anything but continuing at Barca. It cost me a lot to return and I want to be a success here."

If we don't strengthen before the window closes Wenger is done and he has nobody to blame but himself. There could be some very ugly scenes at the Emirates this season regardless as I reckon it will Suarez at best and only Suarez.

If we do another transfer deadline trolley dash, like we did in 2011, that's a failure.

I think at the least we've gotten to the point now than any new signings can't be expected to give an instant improvement because they have to settle in etc. How long til the "optimists" write-off the first few matches?

    Blech.

At least we have a relatively easy start to the season so we should do ok with the current squad. Should never have come to it though.

I still can't believe united wasted there time on this, everyone, well every arsenal fan knew he wouldn't leave barca yet, pretty negligent on uniteds half to waste so much time on it.

Even if we signed Suarez, one of the midfielders people in here have been asking for and a quality defender? I doubt it!

Wenger said a few weeks ago that any business we do will be done late enough in the window so dont be too surprised if it turns out to be true

Why do it late that just doesn't make any sense whatsoever

If Giroud is injured, he's our striker. That's shocking.

Walcott or Podolski will be ahead of Sanogo.

    Fact.

Everyone beginning to lose the plot.

Whether it works out well or horribly, it won't work itself out till deadline day.

Wenger has his first team, maybe without addition of Suarez. What we need apart from that is a CB backup, a DMF/CMF backup, a LWF backup/replacement for Gerv.

Really we've only lost Gerv so we're just building the squad for the future with the exception of perhaps Suarez.

I'm not saying I agree with this but we know at this stage that Wenger's not going to go and replace young players he's spent a lot of time with regardless of how many big names WE think would be a good addition.

If he's in no hurry, it's because he has his settled team. That probably worries a lot of people.

Wenger doesn't give a **** though. Suarez is his attempt to placate the fans. Expect a lot of 'potential' to be signed on deadline day, aside from that, it's Suarez or nothing big.

To be frank and this is just my own opinion. I dont think we will get Suarez, I don't think he really wants to come to Arsenal and Liverpool are not ready to sell their best player to a rival- something AW and the board can perhaps learn from.

I dont have any proof neither is my analysis scientific, it is just a hunch based on AW's philosophy and historical events at the Emirates. I think they knew they were not going to sign any big names all along, it is all a show to placate the fans. I predict that in the next few days, the club will sign some players we have not heard of and say they tried their best with Suarez - essentially same old story.

It is a pity really and quite shameful that the club just couldnt bite the bullet and take risks (Financial) this season to win a trophy.
