That's probably the understatement of the century so far (the 21st century i might add,as I know you lot have yet to get out of the 17 th so far.)

You know nothing about me it seems you are the one living in the past

Because some of them are just neds masquerading as Celtic supporters

Just because some are neds doesn't mean they're not Celtic fans.

Smashing up seats doesn't make them any less of a Celtic fan, it just makes them Celtic fans that also enjoy breaking seats

People use the same argument whenever any group of fans misbehave, the 'they're not real fans' argument. The reality is that they are real fans, just the sort that misbehave

Sounds mild compared to Italian Ultra groups. They would not be taking this lying down either, be rioting in the streets if their club done this to them, shame on Celtic for bowing to pressure. Fans are the heartbeat of a club, especially the hardcore fanatics.

I think the last thing any club needs is it's fans rioting in the streets.

Celtic had no option but to bow to the pressure, the alternative was to get punished with playing games behind closed doors which would impact all fans rather than just a small group.

As much as the colour and atmosphere brought to games by the GB was welcomed they seemed more interested in promoting themselves than supporting the club imo.

to be honest I'd say the seat damage is the clubs biggest beef of the whole lot, simply no need for it home or away.

do you just meekly accept everything the board tells you?

do you just meekly accept everything the board tells you?

They were warned several times about safety issues that regularly occur in 111 and nothing changed. What do you think was the next course of action?

Of course not but I don't see what the board gain by taking this action unless they are under pressure to do so.

As Dempsey said there have been plenty of warnings and if anything things have gotten worse with more flares, smokebombs etc being set off including in a wooden stand at Brentford.

What would you have the club do?

At Brentford there were plenty of non-GB flares and smoke bombs.

That may well be true but we still see the GB set off some sort of flare, smokebomb several times a year at away grounds despite being warned to cut it out.

IMO it's the GB not the club that have shown no sign of compromise on these issues

just to reinforce my point about the GB thinking that their human rights have been violated, some guy just posted something inside so strong on the thread about the closure of the section on their message board.

Have enjoyed the flag displays and atmosphere instigated by the Green Brigade over the years, but they appear to have disappeared up their own holes with their sense of self importance.

Yeah there's no doubting they have made a massive difference to the atmosphere in Celtic Park over the last few years and I will be sorry to see them gone if that's how it plays out but it seems their ego's are stopping them from backing down on any issues.

Well those are the type of fans the club should not be pandering to

At the end of the day its not just up to the GB to sing the songs,it's up to all the rest of the ground, including the very quiet JS stand.

Have all the warnings just been through the public press or have they had face to face discussions with one another?

Do the GB have any particular figure head or representative?
IMO they would be a huge loss the atmosphere.

AFAIK, warnings are issued on the club website and the club has regular dialogue with the GB.

I would hope so. Banning the GB from Celtic Park should be a last resort.

I would be very disappointed if this couldnt be resolved through sensible dialogue and PR. Public announcements or warnings via the club website is not the way to approach this. These are mostly young people. If there is a GB spokesperson who they feel represnts them, I'm sure this can be resolved without bans.

The club should be doing whatever it can to not create an us against them atmosphere. The last thing they should be doing is alienating them.

They were given a final warning and they ignored it. I've no sympathy for them

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,666 ✭✭✭blahfckingblah

they arent banned they've been relocated

they arent banned they've been relocated

Obviously they will be scattered around the stadium as far away from each other as possible but what's gonna stop them relocating next season? And will 111 just be a dead section? While I can agree they were given many warnings this move from the board just doesn't make much sense.

A bigger issue is whether Kelvin Wilson is in the right frame of mind to play tomorrow night.

I've a funny feeling that he'll be off after the Elfsborg game

I don't get the Wilson thing. He has a daughter in Nottingham, so what. It's not like he's on an average industrial wage, his family should move around with him while he plays professional football. He's going back to play for Nottingham Forest, is that the only club he can play for? Anyway each to their own, he better have his head on his game tonight.

The single most crucial match since the corresponding away fixture in the 3rd Qualifying Round v HJK Helsinki last season. Win and we're guaranteed some form of European football, lose and we get nowt. Celtic went into that 2nd game v HJK 2-1 up and won the away leg 2-0. Hopefully a similar result tonight. Hopefully he'll play Stokes up front with Samaras on the left, there's no need to be overly cautious v Elfsborg. We should go over there looking to score goals to wrap the tie up.
