A new problem with 1.23B2 and I'm just wondering if anyone else has seen this?
I have a main favourites list that contains a mix of saorview & eurobird channels. I can select any of these channels without any problem. However, if I use the channel up/down button if skips BBC HD & Channel 4 HD. I've tried taking them out and adding them back in, tried changing the order but no matter where or how I put them in the list they get skipped with the channel button.
I'm going to try a full reset and channel reprogram but just wondering if anyone else is seeing it before I report it.

By the way....I meant to mention this a while back.

The .bin channel list option. Its use is to have a default set of satellites installed when restore default/factory reset is done.

Saves re-scanning. Your default settings the hold a prescanned satellite list(s). You would still need to keep it up to date as stuff moves etc. Handy for those with multi lnb setups.

Sorry, wee bit off topic here, but is there a list where one can compare the Ariva Combos, like for example, what's the difference between a 120 and a 250?
    Thanks.

Main difference is the remote control and the front panel display. If you want to start a new thread I'd be happy to go into more detail for you if needed.

Just a note on channel list problems with the latest firmware.
When the update was released I tried the trick of loading the old channel list and saving it over the new firmware; the procedure was linked in a post a while back.

But I just noticed last week that as I hit the up/down channel buttons BBC HD & Channel 4 HD were skipped. I could hit the middle mouse and select them but not from the up/down keys.

So I reset the box and scanned the channels anew and that fixed it. I had been trying to repopulate the favourites and just scanning those particular channels but no luck. It took a reset.

So for once their suggestion of a reset of the box looks like it was justified. Don't know if any other oddities have been fixed.

Have been using my SKY+ card in my Ariva 150 - then the other day i noticed all channels that require subscription like all the Sky channels (sky one, sky 2 etc) and RTE channels on satellite and MTV channels all stopped working, but all the free non subscription worked fine still. So then fired up my SKY+ HD box and put 101 RTE1 on it and a message came up and said "this is the wrong card for the box!" - so I tried doing a reset of the sky box (unplug, hold backup button and plug box back in then got the message onscreen saying wait 10 minutes. After 10 mins I turned on Sky+ Box and put on 101 (RTE1) and got the message again about wrong card for the box but this time it told to go to SKY.com / activate - went there and put in serial number of the box and it re-activated the card and then all the subscription channels came back OK.

So what I can surmise of this is that if you dont keep the Sky+ subscription card they (sky) disable all the subscription channels from the viewing card! - so If you are planning to get an Ariva box to replace the SKY + Digibox and plan to use it with free to air channels as well as subscription channels, just be aware that if the Sky+ viewing card is out of it box for a while its likely gonna stop working until you put it back into the Sky+ box and reactivate it!

All that's happened here is that your entitlements on the card ran out because you left the card out of the Sky HD box for too long.
Just make sure the card goes back in the Sky HD box once a month for a few hours and it will update fine (Mine currently shows entitlements to mid august). Then pop it back in your Ariva again.
One other thing, you didn't do a reset, all you did was try to update the software on your Sky box. If no new software was available on the data stream you just lost 10 minutes of your life!

Thanks Tony - i dont mind loosing 10 minutes of me life ... any more though and thats different! - LOL

No, mid you I just wanted to mention it just in case someone had a banjaxed sky+box and a sky sub but just thought they would buy an Ariva 150 box to replace the broke Sky+ box, was just trying to be helpful. And it seems there is no way to keep the card sub working without putting it into a working Sky digibox once a month which might be a pain to those who want to get rid of the sky digibox altogether.

    ◦ added a new feature "My IPTV" (more info here and a description of streamowania of VLC here)

Anyone interested in buying an Ariva 250 from me? Have it in a spare room and rarely use it.

Sheesh, just bricked my box. You would think that after numerous updates I would have avoided this but there you go. I backed up the 1.23B4 firmware & channels but it must not have written it properly (I'm sure I removed the key properly though). I loaded in the new firmware, scanned the channels and saved that to edit on a PC and loaded back in the old firmware to keep the box okay for the kids. BUT, it bombed out after writing this corrupt file. I would have imagined they'd put a checksum on the binary to avoid just this. Live & learn.

So, just a quick question. I've found a serial cable, beeped out the connections to make sure it is correct, and tried the eprom program but it just hangs waiting to sync STBs. I'm using a laptop with a USB serial dongle rather than a built in serial port. Anyone ever used one before and got it to work? Thanks in advance.

Patch are you using a null modem cable ? You may know this already but you have to power up the box with the switch on the back to start the upload

Hi Tony. Thanks for the advice. Found a cable in the attic which just needed one solder change and that ended up okay. But I hadn't done this before and wasn't sure about what I was seeing from the program.

In any case I managed to get to an old desktop PC in the in-laws today and brought the box plus cable and program and lo & behold it worked. So it was the USB serial adapter after all.

But lesson learned; make sure the saved .abs file opens on the PC before it ever gets near the box.

    Thanks again.

Antenna setup menu? Select each satellite in turn & set the port no. on the DiSEqC 1.0 option. A DiSEqC 2.0 switch should work if the receiver supports DiSEqC 1.0.

Having got one of these via bargain alerts for 65, I was pleased to discover last night how to use the record function I recorded x men kickass and while I was asleep the machine recorded aeon flux and the holly oaks omnibus by itself , without ad breaks!
unfortunately when I woke up and tried to transfer the files 2 the external sd card I manage to mess it all up and lost the files . they played back perfectly on the TV via the 150 , but after moving wouldn't play from the external SD card on the tablet. Will try to get a hard drive instead. Very impressed all the same, even though none of the apps worked via WiFi apart from the BBC RSS feed.

The apps should work when you have the latest firmware installed

    Hi folks,
I'm looking for your help with recording on a 150 box. My father has recently purchased Ariva 150 Combo and has connected a USB harddrive to the box. We are following the instructions as per the manual but we can not get the timed recorded function to work at all.

If some one has instructions other than the User Manual, it would be great if you could share.

    Thanks

The "record" setting is a bit subtle - after you go Timer Mode -Once, the next line is Timer Service - this needs to be changed from "Channel" to "Record" - otherwise the timer does work but it just changes the channel displayed on the TV at the correct time, rather than recording it.
    Does this help?

I managed to upgrade via USB and the tablet and now the quality of sound and picture is noticeably better even on SD, its formatted my external SD card rendering it useful again, as yet I haven't managed to record directly to the external SD card , and haven't got my head around the timer functions yet either, but hopeful. Well happy with this as far as I can see the only improvement of the 250 over this is the addition of the cam module to put viewing card into. Is that right? Thanks for advice here, really useful. :)

AFAIK, yes that is the difference between the 150 and the 250.

And the 250 has a different remote control that can also control your TV, Amp etc.

Again same idea. These boxes combine Saorview and satellite channels in the one channel list.

Obvious question is going to be what are the differences over the 120/220 combos. They are updates to that series. I would guess that the 120/220s may become discontinued shortly as a result. Much the same prices.
