Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Thanks for the link Chucken, I worked up there for two years and had heard so many people go on about I had to make sure I didn't miss it this time, well worth a look.

The original post needs to be updated.

    There's a new cinema not listed - Showtime (awesome cinema!!) - http://www.showtimecinemas.ie/index.php?__site=SHOWTIMEL

Also there's RollerJam Roller Rink on the ballysimon road (Opened for over a year now...Kids parties, adult nights, hen parties etc) - http://rollerjam.ie/

Might be an idea to list the UL clubs and socs website for the UL students? Or for everyone. Non students can join all the clubs and societies for a reasonable fee. It's also the larges c&s in the country. They've got so so many things to do, from skydiving, to kayaking to drama and musicals - http://ulwolves.ie/wolves/?p=clubsoc

    Hi All

I'm looking for a beavers troop for my six year old son to join in Limerick. I've checked out the Scouting Ireland website and sent emails to ask about enrolling for the group in St. Joseph's Unit, Mallow Street, but haven't gotten a reply. Just wondering if anyone knows if the one in Mallow Street is still open, or if not, has any contact numbers for another unit around Limerick? Thanks in advance.:)

I was talking to a mate who told me about a free family fun day next Saturday and the following Saturday, the 18th and 25th.

Its something to do with the launch of an new after school club, but they are putting on bouncy castle, face painting, treasure hunt, spot prizes etc... from 11am till 3pm. Any way, a free day out with the kids is a free day out!!! Its on in RollerJam, just off the Ballysimon Road, around the corner from B&Q, I'm not sure of the name of the retail park!

If you can find a flyer or something to back this up online, maybe post a link and start a thread for it? Sure families might be interested.

I know I'm a bit late, but have you done mini-golf out in Castletroy yet, that is always good fun.

I'm later again! But ya, the Uni-Golf place is great for something to do on a quiet day. Myself and a few buddies used to venture out there every Sunday to deal with the self-inflicted "few scoops" damage from the night previous before we worked up the courage to get a bit of food into us. Unfortunately, the older we get, the less we see of the place :(

And So I Watch You From Afar are playing in Dolans this Thursday (supported by the always entertaining Fox Jaw Bounty Hunters). Have not listened to their new album yet, but Gangs was excellent.

Saturday night sees Kerbdog playing in Dolans. Wish I could go to this as I saw them years and years ago in the Savoy for one of the free at three gigs, but alas I shall be in Germany on Saturday.

    24th - 26th October 2013
The Cuisle Limerick City International Poetry Festival is dedicated to poetry in all its forms and varieties, featuring the best of local, national, and international poets.

For 18 years we have made Limerick a centre for poetry not only in this country, but throughout Europe and beyond. Cuisle is the pulse that brings life to language, and creates friendships through verse between all peoples.

'Cuisle Limerick City International Poetry Festival 2013' will be launched on 23rd October. Over the following three days our city will be filled with verse from local, national, and international poets. This is the 18th year for this festival, dedicated to poetry in all its forms and varieties.

Events include readings over lunch at the Hunt Museum, screenings of poetry films, book launches, a varied programme for schools, the Young Poet of the Year Award, and our featured evening performances. We will hear verse in English, Irish, Slovenian, Italian, and more besides!

All of this is wrapped up in the warm tradition of Cuisle, providing a very special atmosphere that our guests have come to love.

Showtime cinema at Jetland Ennis road should be added to the cinema listing as it is by far the best cinema in Limerick , great kids club, you can re use your 3d glasses, good prices, great location.

Maybe throw Bourke’s/Burke’s bar Catherine Street down in Entertainment, they normally have two gigs a week and would have some decent Irish acts on. Small space but good venue.

Anyone know if Stones in His Pockets is playing in Limerick?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 69 ✭✭Catch15

I know it's a little bit away, but Alan's Sports Extravaganza is looking like it will be a top event. In memory of Alan Feeley, a PE teacher from Mayo but teaching in Doon, who died in November of a brain haemorrhage. Tag rugby, free fitness classes, fun activities and special guests during the day, then a 'Slick and Stylish' ball in the South Court that night. The tickets are on sale now, money raised goes to the Irish Kidney Association, as Alan donated all of his organs to save the lives of others.

There's a fabulous "museum" in Ruthland St

It is housed in what was Glynn's butchers. Well worth a visit, free but donations are accepted.

There is this museum called ''Old Irish Ways'' out near Bruff in the county.

Visited it recently and really enjoyed it. Loads of interesting items from the 20th century, nostalgia galore.

    http://www.oldirishways.com/

Here is a Limerick leader article on it as well. http://www.limerickleader.ie/what-s-on/arts-entertainment/go-back-in-time-in-the-old-irish-ways-museum-1-5577468

    I'd really recommend it.
