In fairness look at the Madrid team that was playing .

    Casillas
    Arbeloa Pepe Ramos Marcelo
    Modric Khedira
    Isco Ozil Ronaldo
    Benzema
Bit much to be expecting anything out Everton against a team line that .

I agree with both parties here. Madrid is not the game to judge Kone in but in comparison to the other Everton players he offered very little. Mirallas and Coleman ripped it up down the right and Naismith at least offered bits and pieces. Whereas Kone was anonymous. I only saw the first half though.

As I said above: " Having seen bits and pieces of Everton's pre-season I haven't been impressed with Kone. Jelavic came on at half-time against Madrid and scored. I only saw the first half but Kone did absolutely nothing. A rotation risk and if Jelavic finds form he'll start."

If people are looking for value from Everton it's the Coleman/Mirallas pairing I'd look at rather than Kone even though I was a big fan in the latter parts of last season.

    Thoughts on this

Or something like this if Bale does leave .

I like the Bale out team. The only worry is a lack of attacking Arsenal coverage via Walcott or Giroud. If you could squeeze Giroud in after week one from Lukaku you could do a hell of a lot worse. I'd suggest Hooper too but 2 Norwich is enough and Rodriguez could be a master stroke in itself. No City either but with RVP we can't have it all :pac:

I can't see too many obvious issues at all. Scneiderlin and Williams(Is this Ashley of Swansea?) could have better choices there as Ashley is expensive for a bench warmer. Naturally I would advise Mickey Turner. Also McNaughton won't play. Brayford of Cardiff is far more likely and Chester of Hull should be nailed on. Schneids is good tidy player but must be better options than him.

And both Coutinho and Sturridge may be placing too much faith in Liverpool's attack. I really like both but not together. I'd drop Sturridge for now as he isn't fit. With no Walcott the obvious solution is to replace Danny with Giroud.

Thanks for that, took some of your advice ;) Sticking with Ashley Williams for now, even thought they have a tough start.

Was bit unsure about Sturridge, just that he might not be fit in time, so Giroud in! Brayford and Koren in for McNaughton and Schniderlin, so have £2m left over!

Seems like theres a bit of a man crush for Mickey Turner, but gonna give him a skip! If he starts banging in headers and getting a shed load of assists, i'll be kicking myself, but I doubt it :)

Main issue for me is your three mid-priced midfielders, none of whom fill me with excitement. I'd downgrade Noble and upgrade one of the others, assuming you're keeping your 6 in the bank.

I see the Kone issue has been discussed above. With that team, you're relying on him bigtime.

Very nice team in my opinion.. Clyne is my only worry :o

Dzeko is a bit of a gamble as wlel I think.. Despite the manager saying he will the main man, there's a lot of rotation options...

Aside from putting a lot of faith in Southampton's defense which I'm not exactly comfortable with I'm rather pleased with how the rest of it looks just at the moment. Oh and the DGW

    kq22r.jpg

Although this is probably better and Dzeko to Berbs is a simple and logical move after a few weeks especially as Bent has been linked with Newcastle and now Crystal Palace too and gives me rotation in goal which may be a good thing

Im gonna see how RVP starts and possibly drop lukaku or one of the other strikers

Think Vertonghen is out injured for the first few weeks, you could probably change him out for someone a bit cheaper, put Mertesacker on from the bench and maybe upgrade Carrick?

Your front 3 are a gamble, I've got Dzeko and Lukaku as well just hoping they both start!

My team is a page or two back, wouldn't mind some feedback either!

who would you suggest for vertonghen and carrick ?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,600 ✭✭✭roryc

I'm 50/50 at the moment between having RVP. Basically comes down to having him, or going with both Coutinho and Walcott rather than having to choose between them.

I had originally gone with Mertesacker as I had heard Kos was injured but it seems he's back in the mix (and scoring) now so in he goes. I have Ben Turner in as my £4m defender but this will change depending on

I'll likely start with Dzeko up front but will be swapping to Berbs at the first sign of rotation. All depends on the prices not fluctuating though, and obviously Berbs needs to keep his place as main striker for Fulham. There's always the Wolf too. Was considering starting with him but reckon I'll wait and see how he fares in his first few games, Bony seems to be the better bet. Lukaku still a bit of a risk but will decide on him closer to the 17th.

Carrick isn't really a FF player, but with these new Bonus Points he could end up netting 5/6/7 a week depending.

Looks good. Kagawa and Bellamy aren't definites yet so I'd be wary of them, but other than that it#s a pretty solid team.

Very similar to my own team which I have attached. I think you need to work Walcott in.

Hoopers signing has put me of the Wolf . I can't see Norwich playing the 2 of them together that often .

I was thinking about that myself but I can't see why they'd sign two big money strikers to only play one. I'm wondering will they go 4-2-3-1 or 4-3-3 and stick one out on the wing.

The thing is with the amount of money in the premiership now they aren't really big money signings and with grant holt gone they needed 2 decent strikers the same way the big clubs aim to have 4. Personally I think its a risk to go with either of them until we see how they are shaping up. I just cant see a midtable team going with 2 up front in too many matches.

They are big money signings for a club like Norwich though.

That's why I'm thinking Hooper may be pushed out to the wing. The Wolf is more of a target man.

With the new tv deal there is a lot of money at stake. Fees of between 5 & 10 million are pretty standard signings for most lower to midtable premiership teams now (cornelius & caulker cardiff, ramires & rodriguez southampton, bony & shelvey swansea). Norwich struggled to score goals last year and lost their one recognised striker so money had to be spent. As I said before I dont know much about either striker and your probably right one will be pushed wide, I just wont be talking the plunge until I've seen norwich and both players in action.

Ha! No, afraid not. Just thought there was good value in some of their players. It's not the finished article by any means.

I agree with what you're saying but I still don't think a mid table club would shell out fees like that for two strikers knowing one will sit on the bench.

I fully admit I'm taking a chance on the Wolf because last year not going with my gut re Petric cost me.

I may still change to Hooper but I reckon both are good value and think I will go with one or the other. Norwich have good creative midfielders so chances should be available for both.

If you have a gut feeling go with it thats the way I play the game. I just want to wait to see what happens if either are tearing it up I'll bring them in gw 3.
