They discovered climate change instead

Sorry to argue Sam Kade. They discovered Global Warming first and then climate change

You could be right. It's whatever cause is the flavour of the month/year/decade. Also, I've noticed that the term 'climate change' has gradually replaced 'global warming'. This is because the climate has always been changing anyway so climate change is undeniable.

This is trotted out by deniers all the time. It is, however nonsense.

"climate change" has largely replaced global warming in the media because some guy in America, Frank Luntz, a republican strategist discovered it is less frightening than global warming in focus groups and sent a memo out to his media lackeys to use it.

Climate change and global warming are two different phenomena, however. Both are still used in scientific papers.

Perhaps you should spend a few minutes looking up this up before you post it.

Didn't one man create CFC and leaded petrol? Think someone told me that before.

    ...............................
Most scientific studies have accepted global climate change. The odd ones which dont are usually funded by oil companies etc. It was interesting that both the recent heads of BP and Shell when they were retiring said that they fully believe in Climate change............
Nobody denies that the climate is changing. It always has and always will, it is a dynamic system. What I question is the assertion by climatologists that we, the human race, can stop it from changing. The implication is that, if were not us pesky humans, the climate would not change at all. This is clearly a ludicrous position.
I also find it disturbing that if anyone challenges the accepted theory, they are branded as having ulterior motives, just as you have done, ('funded by oil companies'). We should remember the 'odd' people in the past who challenged widely accepted theories include Galileo, Copernicus, Newton, Darwin and Einstein.
Try addressing the argument instead of questioning the motives of anyone who disagrees with your point of view.
For a start, why did the climate warm up during the medieval period and the cool down during the Little Ice Age? My answer is that we simply don't know. What's yours.

The hole was actually built by an Irish construction firm which collapsed after the banking crisis.

I believe that they hadn't got the funds to maintain the hole in proper working order and after a lengthy legal battle ownership of the hole passed to NAMA.

It was sold at auction last year to the green party who planned to use it as a major part of their next election campaign. Unfortunately, at its unveiling at the green party summit, the entire membership of the green party and all supporters fell into the hole.

The story goes that the amount of bull**** being spoken at the meeting was sufficient to fill the hole and eliminate the problem, effectively killing two birds with one stone. So now we have no green party and no hole in the ozone layer, win win.

Neither of these were global events. Again, you are using talking points that have been time and again debunked.

Climate deniers are not the Albert Einstiens and Galileos. These people used observation and science to challenge the status quo. Not trolled through a few oil company front websites "debunking" global warming with with cherry picked data and phony scientists on the take.

I'm not disputing that. What people fail to grasp is that human beings are changing the climate at a faster rate than its ever been changed before. Of course the climate is not a stable entity I dont dispute this. But the pumping in of CO2, Methane and other greenhouse gasses changes the atmospheric composition fundamentally.

A good example of what you are saying is that temporary cooling periods are often by extraneous events like volcanic eruptions which throw soot and dust into the atmosphere and cause cooling from very small periods of weeks to longer periods.

By the way I should point out that I have a diploma in Climate change and sustainability from De Montfort University in Leicester. (Although I havent used it) :(

Yeah, and I have a BA in Modern History/Political Science from the University of Liverpool (1976-1979) - I'm neither a Politician nor an Historian.

I also remember back in the '70's we were under imminent threat from another Ice Age!

Convince people there's a higher-morality to a constant increase in taxation and you're home and dry!

I dont think Taxation was actually mentioned.

But if you want my solutions I would be happy to give them
