Frontline is weak, I'd chance Lukaku for the DGW, I don't think Lambert will repeat last years form and not even sure if he will start regularly, same with Kone.

That's probably for the best. I like your bench for what it's worth :pac:

If you could just explain your selections and why you picked that player we could actually try and understand your thought process and work from there. A perfect example is why on earth is Rooney in that team?

Once you actually spend a few weeks milling through these threads you can really learn a lot from people. Before I became a regular in here less than a year ago I thought I knew what I was doing but some of the guys here really know their stuff and it rubs off on you whether you like it or not  :pac:

first off i love the replies and seeing where i can improve and i thank you all for that. ill give a quick run through my thoughts on why i picked each player..

(GK) Vorm (consistent) Boruc (good back up)

(DF) Walker (good going forward) Williams and O'Shea (imo best def at their clubs)
riether and reid (solid back up)

(MF) Walcott (dangerous) Coutinho (gonna surprise) morrison (wba attacking threat) and Wilshere (injury prone but makes arsenal move) sessegnon ( another quality back up)

(FW) Ba (should score plenty) Dimi (fulham's best hope and quality player) and finally Rooney ( hes going nowhere he will be at OT next season and in a world cup year surely madness not to pick him)

hopefully it helps you understand my thinking and i look forward to hearing what improvements i can make by learning from the experts.

On a seperate note is there a boards league set up for members to join?

Swansea have awful early fixtures and will then be in the Europa league. I'd stay away from them early on, defensively especially. No problem with Boruc at all.

Walker is a fantastic attacking weapon but at 6 if way over priced when you look at Coleman @5 or Dawson/Kaboul if you really want Spurs. Williams for Vorm's reasons and O'Shea may be their best defender but that doesn't earn him more clean sheets. I'd lean towards Mannone for Sunderland coverage although Brown has featured in pre-season too. I like Riether and Reid but they are too expensive for back-ups. The rest of your team will suffer and there WILL be days when they'll be on your bench and score better and you'll curse yourself for not starting them.

Agree with Walcott and Coutinho (although not a surprise anymore, and is perhaps .5 overpriced but I have him myself atm). I got burned with Morrisson last year, every time I had him he did nothing and then of course scored when I sold him. Sessegnon is a much better bet and should not be on your bench. I'd swap Morrisson for Brady or a different 5.0 and upgrade Wilshere to Mirallas maybe. Wilshere is a fine player but FF gold he is not. Doesn't score, assists the assister and has chronic injury issues. Do not touch with a barge poll. You already have Arsenal coverage in midfield with Wally too.

Ba won't score loads of goals because he won't be playing games. He's 3rd choice assuming Chelsea don't sign anyone else. Get rid as he's just a waste of money for bench fodder. I like the Berb alright but beware if Darren Bent signs as he'll no doubt steal some of the Berb's plunder. As for Rooney whether he's at United/Chelsea or the moon he's currently injured. There are so many choices upfront and t the moment he's one of the few that isn't. Aguero @ 11 and loads between 7 and 9.5..Soldado could be an option. Nothing wrong with RVP either :pac:

I hope this helps and of course I could be totally wrong as well

Thinking I'm closing in my final team selection, what ye think?

    de Gea
    --Coleman--Zabaleta--Mertesacker--
    Mirallas--Hazard--Walcott--Coutinho
    Lukaku--Benteke--Dzeko

    Boruc--Whittaker--Dikgacoi--Shaw

Is Dzeko going to start many games? Are United going to keep many early clean sheets? Are Villa going to score many goals total in their early games? Outside of those questions I think you're doing well.

I thought I read somewhere that the Man City manager said Dzeko would be his main man up front, but then again with the options he has it's difficult to tell.
I think United has a full defense bar Raf so they should be a solid enough bet.
I have Benteke in for the DGW after that I'll see how he gets on, Bony could be a replacement, or Berbs depending on how they are fairing out.

I'd be surprised if all 3 players bore early fruit but that is the thing with different perspectives I guess.

As said above Bale to Coutinho/Silva and Hernandez to Soldado/Dzeko/Bony/Van Wolfswinkel/Lukaku would be an improvement.

Jelavic seems to be going well in pre-season so worth keeping an eye on him instead of Kone.

A Sunderland Goalkeeper and Defender is not a good idea so O,Shea to Collins (West Ham) and with the .5 you save from that upgrade Baker to Clyne/Shaw.

I would also downgrade Morrison and upgrade Boruc to Mignolet.

I must have changed my team 1000s of times what with the bale thing so im gonna leave it alone untill i find out more and the price for Soldado is up . Pretty much sorted my Defence line up and left about 6M in my back to play with . Is there any news about Bale i cant find zip .

Think Vertonghen is out injured for the first few weeks, you could probably change him out for someone a bit cheaper, put Mertesacker on from the bench and maybe upgrade Carrick?

Your front 3 are a gamble, I've got Dzeko and Lukaku as well just hoping they both start!

My team is a page or two back, wouldn't mind some feedback either!

McNaughton to Brayford and maybe Benteke to Soldado if he signs and is affordable and I like the cut of your jib, assuming Turner is of the Mickey variety.

    Mignolet

    Ivanovic(v) Mertesacker Coleman
    Couthinio Nolan Miralles Hazard(c)
    Sturridge Dzeko Lukaku
    Marshall Schneiderlin Williams McNaughton

This is my current selection, and have £1m to spare, probably use my wildcard after game week 3. Had Santi Cazorla, but not sure if he'd start the first game. Same goes for Kagawa.

Definitely would have Bony starting but Swansea have a tough start to the season!

    Would appreciate any feedback
decent enough team. I would change the bench though and not sure about 2 everton players until I see how the results pan out

Thanks for that , im worried about leaving out giroud , he's banging them in for arsenal in pre season

Yeah I've been looking at him with interest myself. But I fear both himself and Walcott could be overkill.

Moreau has been speaking very highly of him which makes the urge to include him harder to shake. I'm looking at Dzeko too but I could always swap Wally for Silva and Dzeko to Giroud.

I presume you'll be looking to offload both Bentekers and Lukaku pretty soon after the 1st week? Giroud could always be that outlet unless somebody else comes along

Cheers, bit unsure about Everton, Coleman looks decent value but under Martinez they might not keep many clean sheets, on the other hand they have decent enough fixtures for the start of the season!

    Time for another laugh ?

All home players and 3 DGW'ers. Shipped out RVP to give me more utility and value around the park

I think it's better to plan without Bale for now. So bring in Coutinho now rather than later. The front 3 are really the only issues remaining. Having seen bits and pieces of Everton's pre-season I haven't been impressed with Kone. Jelavic came on at half-time against Madrid and scored. I only saw the first half but Kone did absolutely nothing. A rotation risk and if Jelavic finds form he'll start.

I'm not saying bring him in either. With 3.0 left over from the Bale money you have 24 to play with for the forwards. Personally I was impressed with Hooper of Norwich in his few games. He'll share goals with the Wolf but I think he might outscore him and is 6.5. Another is Dzeko who in theory should have a good first month and is 7.5 which would leave you with 10. Now I know you fancy Rooney but there is little point in having him before you are sure he will start and play. That means you'll have to wait until he has at least 1 game under his belt so Soldado could be a good stop gap once he comes into the game.

The opportunity cost with Rooney scoring 1 goal is not worth waiting a week or 3 before he does so when you could pick up somebody guaranteed of starting in the first few weeks thus being more likely to score goals.

One last thing, maybe it's not wise to have both Mannone and O'Shea. I know I mentioned Mannone but I meant to hint with the idea of dropping O'Shea. You could have Toure or Riether who you had before for that price and gives you more options unless you really think Sunderland can keep a lot of clean sheets. Oh and I'd worry about Baker losing value as he has a high ownership and can only really drop in price especially with Villa not playing GW3. Chester or Brayford should be better.

But that seems much stronger than when you were starting out with the first team or two. Just please don't curse me when Luke Moore scores a hat-trick against United in the first week :pac:

I can't see too many obvious issues at all. Scneiderlin and Williams(Is this Ashley of Swansea?) could have better choices there as Ashley is expensive for a bench warmer. Naturally I would advise Mickey Turner. Also McNaughton won't play. Brayford of Cardiff is far more likely and Chester of Hull should be nailed on. Schneids is good tidy player but must be better options than him.

And both Coutinho and Sturridge may be placing too much faith in Liverpool's attack. I really like both but not together. I'd drop Sturridge for now as he isn't fit. With no Walcott the obvious solution is to replace Danny with Giroud.

why are playing playing Baker? He is nowhere near a guaranteed starter for Villa, Vlaar, Clark and Okore all ahead of him imo

In fairness look at the Madrid team that was playing .

    Casillas
    Arbeloa Pepe Ramos Marcelo
    Modric Khedira
    Isco Ozil Ronaldo
    Benzema
Bit much to be expecting anything out Everton against a team line that .

It doesn't matter who you are playing against - if you stand still and don't make any runs you're not going to score any goals.

    He was lazy.
