It takes a special kind of utter scumbag to point a shotgun at a 10 month old baby and threaten to shoot her.
I hope these bástards are caught soon and I hope that the judge throws away the key on them!

horrible - the Guards will no doubt catch them , BUT my worry is will the judiciary be strong eneogh to sentence them accordingly - everyone deserves a fair trial , but sometimes , I think we have gone too far in being fair.

See, I read that report and noted it's position on the Independent's website and thought the Independent has finally made the jump to becoming the Daily Mail.

If there are caught, they will appear before the judge, give a terrible sob story about their awful upbringing and the judge will say -thats terrible, I know you have loads of previous convictions but i will give you 5 years each and Ill suspend the last two.

They will end up serving less then 2 years while the families that they have terrorised will be petrified in their own house for years after. They will lose sleep over every sound they hear out side and their hearts will leap into their mouths if someone comes to the door.

None of what was stolen will be returned to them.

The guards will carefully mind their manners in front of these scum incase god forbid any of THEIR civil rights are breached.

Judicary in this country are so far removed about what justice is that they are a joke.

They may well up hold the law, but they rarely dispense justice.

What a stupid thing to do. Like a baby could understand such a threat and comply.

What's Daily Mail about it? The Spindo is a rag, and not that different to the Fail, but it would be hard to tone down such an horrific story.

I for one was shocked to hear that violent armed robbers were not nice people.

Simply no comparison to the sadistic and barbaric nature of humans, compared to animals.

Putting the rifle to the baby's head is still shocking though.

its not even the lead story in the Indo - they are leading with a fatal crash in Donegal - so I'm very confused.

Would love to castrate them all.

A person pointed a gun in the face of a baby and threatened to shoot that baby.

I think that is a legitimate cause of anger. Can you explain to us what your PC Brigade reference is about?

    I don't see how it's relevant.

The baby catching hold of the barrel and swinging it hard enough to knock the raider out, now that would shock me.

There is a class of left winger who sees guns pointed at babies and blame the anger on "right wing authoritarians" and we as a society. If they can blame the daily mail they do that.

I find it really strange that 3 of them had handguns. I'm gonna guess at least a few of them were airsoft pistols given, while you could get a handgun illegally here with the right connections, they'd be pretty expensive.

And if they were airsoft, the judge will let them off light because they're not real firearms..... never mind that the perceived threat is the exact same.

No description of the raiders that is going to very useful is catching them.

As far as I know the law with regards using airsoft guns in crime is that it's dealt with as if they were carrying real guns. The effect on the victim is the same, they wouldn't know the gun is not real so if they use that as a defense it should be thrown out straight away.

Even an air gun is considered a firearm for the purposes of aggravated burglary. The law does not dintinguish between types of firearms in that situation, and any person found guilty is liable to be convicted for life.

As an aside, even if it were an imitation firearm, i.e. a toy gun, it is also punishable with life imprisonment.

There's no reason to believe it was a toy, but I would agree that airsoft guns are not unlikely.

Your tone reminds me of another poster.;)

PC Brigade is the kind of thing people that love these threads would say.

I mean what's the point of them? It's an awful thing to happen to the kid but its just about 100 pages of people saying the same thing.

And yes I know I don't have to read it etc.
