Bernard is going to run amuck at Shakhtar and he will be sold at double what they bought him for and we will be wondering why we didn't go in for him, a bit like Yaya Toure, Mata, Vertonghen etc

This is what I'm talking about.

A 5 ft 4 20 year old with barely any experience goes to Shaktar.

None of Europes big clubs felt he was worth spending the money on despite him being offered around for a couple of weeks.

This is immediately seen as a massive failure on Arsenal's part, akin to some of the worse transfer errors Wenger's made.

I mean do we really need this?

This isn't a direct go at you gringo. It's just a type of post I was commenting on earlier.

I don't think they have at all said that. Which would make you wonder.

they said it on their tour definitely, that they just had to inform him of the bid

which make you wonder what is/was the point of it?
fúck up by suarezs' people when negotiating the contract/clause?

The market is absolutely mental at the moment I'm not surprised we haven't brought any one in.

Wait till it calms down, we've bid for jotivic bender and a forward, so far we haven't got any but they're positions we need filling and the club has identified that.

Just listening to Brendan rodgers saying how Liverpool people stood by Suarez through the racist and biting incident and how they owe him.

Is that a bad reflection on Liverpool people that they are seen to stand by racists and someone who bites people!!?

I can't get my head around what he meant?

we were loyal to you, now we expect you to be loyal to us

& making sure he doesn't forget that they did stand by him

It could be another bluff by rodgers, the guy comes across like a used car sales man, He'll try any ole trick in the book when it comes to transfers.

i suppose it could be & he does have a good excuse if he was lying - nobody seems clear on it - but i dont think so, if it were would suarez not have met with arsenal like he's rumoured to want by this stage

That's what he was talking about though, that they stayed loyal to him despite his awful attitude to playing the game within the rules.
If he had not done those things, then they would be standing by him without question as he is of the highest quality and scored a **** load of goals.

I see, not sure I could do the same.

Nor could I see Wenger or Arsenal doing the same.
I think Liverpool have different priorities than us though.;)

I reckon the 40 plus 1 bid was giving to arsenal by someone close to suarez, id be surprised if chats didn't already happen, also I doubt an agent would be so clueless about the contract.

All this leaked information looks like desperation from Liverpool to sell to Madrid, though I wouldn't be surprised if its coming from the suarez camp too.

Though I'm just speculating and am probably wrong.

Ramsey is better than Wilshere at this point in time and I'll be a bit surprised if he doesn't start the season in the first XI.

Ramsey's very versatile, and he came on from some poor performances to some really good ones. The sign of a fighter, fair play to him. He's got my confidence anyhow.

    which is nice for him.

If Ramsey is the answer, then god help us all

    seriously?
I said to one of my friends that Ramsey was the worst player in the top 4 early in the season but Ramsey went and changed my mind. He's not the "answer" but he's a good player, with the potential to be much better, and the attitude to live up to his potential.

Depends on what the question is.

I cant fault his attitude but the amount of times he gives the ball away and then all these flicks and turns he does

The last arsenal player i felt this way about was Tiger Eboue. And that didnt end well !!

I can't disagree that when he plays a simple game he's more effective :)

yeah it had to be or else they had someone googling for the stories of saurez signing a new contract and got it from there :pac:
i'd say they have too, they were supposed to have been 'encouraged' by his people to make the bid as well, on the clause you'd think that but who knows

i'm not sure about the releasing it to get madrid involved, do they really want to sell him?

Ramsey was in great form at the end of the season but I'm not having that at all. Hes not a patch on Wilshere, who played superb when he got a run of injury free games around November-January. Hes on another level to Ramsey and if he stays injury free, with a full pre-season behind him I'd back him to be our player of the year, even if we signed a Suarez.

His ability to pick the ball up in midfield and ghost past a couple of players is unparalleled in the PL, Dembele probably comes closest.

    How reliable is it usually?

I follow the source on twitter @germangunners and he's very quick to knock back any dodgy rumour from Germany so reasonably reliable

    Wilshere was horrible last season.

Ramsey was as good as Wilshere before his injury. When he came back he was horrible too, but people overlooked it (for a while) because a) he was coming back from injury and b) his past reputation. Wilshere is in the same place now; his performances last season in no way warrant a place in the team over Arteta or Ramsey. Hopefully he can progress back to his best a lot quicker than Ramsey but talk of levels of meaningless for me; right now, Ramsey is better.

OK so that would be my upcoming defender to provide back-up and eventual replacement to Per.

Suarez will be my top level striker.

Now for the beast of a midfielder!!

This must be a piss take? He had about 2 poor games out of 20? Most of the time he played he was our best player. The only time he looked poor was when he came back from the 2nd injury and played 2 games (one against everton possibly? Didnt look great but turned out he was still injured and he didn't play again for the rest of the season). If Wilsheres fit Ramsey shouldn't and won't get a look in if theyre competing for the same spot.

Excellent point about not wanting to sell him.

Take him out of the team and they're a lame duck attacking wise. Sturidge will get 15 goals but he's a bit injury prone, coutinho as good as he looks has only really had 4 good games for Liverpool against relegation fodder/candidates or lower half teams already safe, he did continue his form pre season against Indonesias and Thailands finests, I wouldn't be as quick as some to label him a different class.

So lose suarez and they're really in a hole.

    Er... it isn't.

It's not exactly an uncommon opinion. He was rarely our best player; he played 33 games and as far as I can see never got close to anyone's consideration for player of the year, which considering it was his return to the team and he basically farts gold in the eyes of Arsenal fans, suggests how below par he was. He also wasn't injured at the end of the season - he was on the bench for the last five games.

Can't believe there are some in here that think Ramsey is a better player than Wilshere. Are people forgetting how long Wilshere was out for? Form is temporary and all that jazz.

Nobody in the top 4 or the teams chasing it like Spurs, Everton, Liverpool would come anywhere near Ramsey if he was available but they would be all over Wilshere like a fly on sh*t.
