Here's a copy of email I just sent. Anyone thinking along same lines?

    Dear sirs

I have received a letter stating I was successful at AC but I'm not placed high enough in the merit list to be processed any further.

My understanding from a conversation with your Office earlier this week was that merit placing didn't matter and it was only relevant when starting to fill places at the training college so I am slightly confused where I stand.

can you advise what my merit placing was and how many from the merit list has already gone through so I can see where I am in relation to this as from reading your letter I can only assume if people fail medicals or pull out there's a chance I shall be called?

I look forward to hearing from you by email.

I'm not sure this campaign has been run entirely right. One person from us all only got called to a medical yet there are supposedly 100s of jobs and quite a lot have already been ruled out with a regret letter?!

Let me know if u get a reply to ur email Scotlad!

But trying to take all the positives I can at this stage the way it's worded is like they are sure people will fail or pull out n we r the reserves??

I got same letter. Whomever said the merit list wasn't important lied. They can only take so many in Millisle at one time, so assuming they take back to back groups in, if they've not reached your number in the merit list by the time next recruitment campaign starts your back to square one. That way they can guarantee they'll still make the numbers if people fail medical/background checks or whatever. Bit disheartening, but if I'm honest, this was always second fiddle to joining the PSNI for me. It's extremely unlikely that they will exhaust the merit list before the next recruitment campaign so I wouldn't anticipate hearing again from them.

Unsure if they have a UK residency requirement in the same way as those hoping to join the UK Police ( other than PSNI ) have come a cropper on. Check that out first.

Sorry to hear guys I'm waiting on my medical but sure I could fail that you just never know with these things

Maybe our post sorting office is lazy lol but actually now that I think about it when I've been so caught up in reading this, my postman was nowhere to be seen today!! I doubt I've missed him though cos I can see where he parks his post trolley and it stays there over an hour while he does his round and its not been there all day

I'd say we are all in same boat. My email is taking an awful long time to be replied to!

I got the same letter today. Not entirely worried though. Good friend of mine got the same letter last June and next he heard from them was December to fill out all the forms. Started in Millisle at the start of this year and had been low 300's on the merit list. Was actually in the top 200 starting tho due to ones failing checks, medical etc. suppose if we had an idea of how many jobs there are we'd have a better idea if we have a chance or not.

had a look through the posts from the last time - and this is a quote i found: I agreed with Lovinlife1 it will juts be a wait and see!!

"Just to give you an update - they are definitely working their way down the merit list.

I spoke to someone from recruitment and was told that I had recieved a 'holding' letter.

I asked if they could give me a hint as to where I am on the list - they couldn't say over the phone, but said if I e-mailed I could find out exactly where I am on the list.

    E-mail already sent.

I really hope they are working in small batches.......and that they will soon send me vetting/medical forms"

From Page 19 of this thread!

I've applied for other jobs and although this is top of my list I can't really afford to hold out for it if successful with any of the others first. If I'm around 200 in the merit list I'd feel a bit more optimistic than say like 900 or something lol

rang up recruitment and got my merit number.
Was told that they are currently working on court pco positions and that they needed about 100.
    That's all I was told...

I'm sorry folks, I have yet to receive my letter but I'm 100% certain I'm going to get the same as you all, and to be frank it's a load of bull! Don't worry when I get my letter I'll be writing an email and phoning telling them what I think about the whole fiasco, I applied last time and they lost my application and apologised and said they could do no more, when I asked about a year ago, so this doesn't surprise me, maybe this is the way it's supposed to be, all I can say is that when I get into the psni they'll be sorry they missed out on what could have been a great prison officer, there is people that went to that AC in flip flops and jeans, applying for a uniformed disciplined service??? and i have no doubt some of these people got medicals which is a load of bull, I'm not gonna be seconds to someone else because they aren't fit or can't pass vetting, if and when I get that letter, they'll be sorry when I'm on the phone lol, rant over :)
