External hard drive not showing on my desk tp

    When you plug the usb cable in - do you hear the hard drive spin up?

    yes it spins up

    i went into disc utillities but it wasnt showing up on the side am i doing it right or do i need to look closer

    Did you get a single or double ended USB cable, I've found some enclosures require both to be plugged in as they're not getting enough juice.

    that was the first thing i did was stick the both usb's in
