As I say, everybody at that price is a risk. Chances are most of them will struggle for points. But with Cardiff paying quite a bit for him I'd imagine he'll start games, and being a relatively unknown player he might cause some early upsets. I stress the word 'might'. He could equally do nothing but it's a chance I'm willing to take for now.

I think he's the biggest risk given the one year of pro football only. Anelka, for example, is 34 but he's a proven talent. I think Cornelius will be this years Pogrebnyak

    Or Boselli, remember him...

I'd be more inclined to go with Graham or Gayle as both should be guaranteed to start too. Depending on how Hull perform Graham could end up on the receiving end of a lot of assists via Brady and Koren and is proven at Swansea at least if not Sunderland. Palace under Holloway should be an attacking side too and Gayle did cost over a million pounds more than David Villa

Not sure how many games Anelka and Dzeko will actually start. That could be a major issue.

Danny Graham is a rubbish striker, Championship level.

I wont be touching the newly promoted sides early on, don't know them well enough bar a few players.

If Bale has not sorted his future either way by the start of the season and still looks like he could be off to madrid, will ye still include him for the first few games even if his heart mightnt be in it because of the speculation? Is it money best spent elsewhere?

    Bale is a model professional.

Well I was referring to the alternative strikers in the 5.5 price-range but I would hardly call him a rubbish striker. 12 in 36 in his first season and got ousted by Michu last year, there isn't too many players who wouldn't be in that scenario. Now he's never going to be Alan Shearer reborn but at 5.5 as a clubs main striker you probably could do worse if you needed a cheap forward. After failing at Sunderland he's obviously a greater gamble than before.

As with every season we won't really know the lie of the land until a couple of weeks in but just trying to make the best fist of things beforehand as possible.

I already have Brady as a cheap midfielder so I'm not tying too much up in Hull by having Graham too. Gayle is certainly an option but at 0.5 cheaper than Cornelius I can easily change to him when freeing up funds.

Pog went into the season with high enough expectations given how well he did at Fulham, basically nobody knows what to expect of Cornelius so unfair comparison. As for the one year of football; it's not as if I plan on keeping him there all season. He should be guaranteed to start early in the season; as a cheap backup to alternate with Brady I'd much prefer have a striker who'll definitely play as opposed to a veteran like Anelka who'll be competing with Shane Long and so will end up coming on from the bench a lot. That's my thinking on this anyway.

    ...................Mignolet...................

    Zabaleta..mertesacker..coleman

    Zaha....walcott....bale....hazard..

    ...berbagoal...lambert..lukaku....

Subs: davis, mickey t, brady, baker.

Defense speaks for itself, I reckon most teams will be fairly similar. I was toying with JT for zab but, no guarantee he'll start BOTH DGW games. Plus it would be harder to get rid of 3 chelsea players without wildcarding.

The 3 big hitters in midfield will be similar to a lot of peoples teams as well. ive opted for zaha as hes playing out of his skin in preseason, and nani young valencia didnt cover themselves in glory last season. I've a feeling he'll be this years bargain.

The forwards are a different beast altogether. I can't justify rvp plus two gambles. The 3 I have at the moment are proven in the PL, and I plan to switch lukaku out after GW3 for either bony or kone, depending on their starts, or giroud if I can free up .5 mill.

All criticism welcome, just wondering if I'm missing somebody obvious.

It really seems that the majority of people are going for a spine of Mignolet, Coleman, Mertesacker, Bale, Hazard, Walcott and throwing in Mickey T (or a different Norwich defender where ye see fit :( ) and it effectively comes down to 1 big hitting defender or 2 rotations, the same in midfield and striking preferences. I've got about 10 teams saved and I'm pretty sure at least 8 consist of the majority of those names.

Perhaps we all are just convincing ourselves that this is the way to go. I'd really like Silva and Coutinho in my midfield but fear of being left behind could play a factor. I'm also getting a funny feeling that Bale may not live up to the early hopes for him. Please don't read that as "Oooh Bale is crap and isn't professional" because that obviously isn't true but he hasn't had much of a pre-season to be fair and while he's a different kettle of fish to Bale's of yesteryear he has never started quickly.

It'll be interesting to see what a few of our regulars come up with that are waiting til closer the time to reveal their thoughts/even think about teams while I certainly have fallen into the inner circle as mentioned above with Kos over Mert to be a little hipster.

I think the strikers are the big area where there's a not of variation. I'm finding it hard to decide which combo of forwards to go with, and that's obviously having a knock on effect on the rest of my team. For example, if Darren Bent goes to Fulham, or Newcastle, I might pick him, but if he doesn't go, I definately wont. Similar with Rooney.

If Bent goes to Fulham he'll steal some of the Berb's goals/chances which then results in another option out the window. Rooney won't leave until after the 26th (when United play Chelsea) if he leaves at all so doesn't really come into consideration at all at the moment really. The Hooper transfer has scuppered plans too concerning The Wolf and perhaps even those looking at Snodgrass. At least if Rooney did sign for Chelsea it would remove the temptation of Lukaku.

All will be revealed with the passage of time :pac:

    Think Kos is injured

I think he's fit again, played the full 90 against Uwara Red Diamonds over the weekend and seemed to come through it. Will keep a sharp eye on him though.

If everything stays as is until the 17th I may end up starting with this team. Mirallas is on my watchlist though, would love to squeeze him in.

Think Terry well play both games though? He is getting on. I have my doubts about him at the moment.

Sorry Mr Prodston but I am a Graham hater. I always said he flattered to decieve.

After one half decent season, where he was on pens I think, he was found out last year and it's not long before he'll be back in the Championship IMO.

Is Koren not a complete waste for GW1? The Chelsea midfield will rape Hull's tbf.

Haha oh I won't be touching him myself I was just saying he might be the best of a "bad" lot in and around 5.5.

I'd sooner stick Mickey Turner up front. Legend with the headers.

Would have to agree , he would be a better pick for GW2 and 4 . And i doubt Terry will play both games in GW!

Yeah I'm unsure of having Terry as I think he'll likely be rested for the Villa game, will have to think about it. Really want him to be in my team this year, he's already scored in one of the pre-season friendlies.

Who is likely to play both games for Chelsea? Luiz?

Is nobody considering Lamps besides myself? At 8mil he is great value and was banging them in last season. plus i would be thinking Mourinho will want the palyers he knows well on the pitch!? I know he is getting on a bit but even so he didnt seem like he was slowing down with the goals whenever he got the game time!

There's a quote around somewhere about José wanting to use less of Frankie this year.

Mori is going to " manage his time " so I would be more inclined to start Hazard .

picked Cech and Lukaku. Cech will be swapped out for Hart GW2, Lukaku not sure might keep him or might ship him out GW3

    opinions of this?

    mignolet

    zabeleta
    mertezacker
    coleman

    zaha
    mirales
    bale
    hazard
    michu

    benteke
    berbatov

    subs

    jones
    mcnaughton
    baker
    davis

    Two things

    1. are their better subs at the prices I paid?
2.I could swap out zaha for kagawa but I would need to downgrade benteke to a 7.5m striker , should I do this?

    what ye think lads?
