On the evidence of previous education bit on the susi document schedule, it states a letter from a college or institution confirming attendance,and a copy of the award you received if you completed the course.

I completed my course ten years ago, I wouldnt know where to look for the confirmation letter for the course? Would the award and results sheet be enough?

You just need to go into the college and ask them for a letter that states the date when you started and finished college. If you can't physically go to the college you could send them an email asking for said letter.

I sent the college an email requesting the letter. for the residency 3 out of 5 years bit, I havent been using my bank account much, as I havent been working or paying anything as I live at home, would car insurance certs, or a garda clearance form be sufficient along with some social welfare statements?

Hi All,

I'm filling out the grant application form for my younger sister who will hopefully be starting college soon. I did not qualify for a grant when I was in college so I'm a bit unfamiliar with the process.

There is a section on the application that asks about other dependent children of my parents. I have a 31 year old sister that has an intellectual disability. She still lives at home with my parents and always has. She is in receipt of a disability allowance from the Department of Social Protection (I think it's nearly 200 euro a week). My question is would she be considered a dependent of my parents for the purposes of applying for the grant?

My Dad retired from his job in September 2011 and is well below the income threshold so would it even matter if my older sister was considered a dependent of my parents?

From reading the Act I think she is classified as dependent

http://www.irishstatutebook.ie/2011/en/act/pub/0004/sec0016.html

(7) (a) In this section “dependent child” means a child, including a foster child, of a person referred to in paragraph (b) which child, on a day to be prescribed—

(i) has not attained the age of 16 years, or

(ii) has attained the age of 16 years or more, resides with a person referred to in paragraph (b), and

(I) is pursuing a full-time course of education, or

(II) is certified by a registered medical practitioner (within the meaning of section 2 of the Medical Practitioners Act 2007 ) as being permanently unfit to work by reason of a medical condition.

I am not sure if you need to declare the disability allowance as your parents income though. I don't think you do!

Maybe contact SUSI helpdesk and ask?

looking for bit of help, I sent all my susi documents back yesterday by registered post. They said they would get it today, I have been tracking it but said attempted delivery! I rang customer service and they said all susi mail gets diverted to their cork office.

The deadline to have my documents back is tomorrow, what will happen if it doesn't get there on time now? Will they allow for an extra day?

Thanks mango salsa. I rang the SUSI helpdesk but they were not really much help. I discussed it with my parents and we didn't list my older sister as a dependent of my parents in the end. I think my father's income since his retirement (a 21k a year pension which is the sole income for the house) is sufficiently low enough for my younger sister to qualify for the full adjacent grant.

hi all,looking for some advice, I'm trying to fill out the grant form but am now stuck on section D. My mam is not working and stays at home (i.e. a housewife or whatever you call it.) Which option do I go for in the employment status question and what do I choose for the occupation part???

Filled out my daughters form on line wasn't till later when I received a request for paperwork I didnt have, that I rearlised I had answered one of the questions yes instead of no Not able to go back in to form to change it. Wrote to SUSI but they just dont get it keep asking for stuff i dont have. Filled in form last year all ok, wrote to susi to say that the form should have been filled in the same as last year as my daughter is only moving up a level, and explained my mistake what are the chances of her getting a grant this year, can I reaply for her

thanks for the quick reply, what exactly is the sort code? would it be the branch code number, six digits?

sort code is your branch, say your with AIB, each AIB will have an individual sort code (By location), its like an area code. its a 6 digit number usually at the top of your statements from the bank and goes like 90-00-01 etc. If you cant find it, you can ring your bank and ask for it over the phone.

Yeah Thats all they asked me when I did mine last week. Just make sure your account number and name is correct etc before you save it

Hi,

Could you please advise

I applied for Student grant and now I got the notification: "Provisionally Awarded.Your application will be fully assessed once we confirm receipt of course acceptance directly from the CAO"

So, I got acceptance from the CAO online application (round A as a mature student) and t an e-mail form the offering institution that the place is secured. So, should I "PrintScreen" the CAO online section about my acceptance and send it to the SUSI or I need to wait till I get the registration letter in late August and sent a copy?

Hmm personally I would list it as the same course. Even though the year is optional you're essentially 'topping up' your ordinary degree to an honours degree. Either way you should be covered for the four years by grant since a lot of courses across Ireland are 4 years.

i've it filled out the other way but yeah i was thinking on changing it, going on what you've said basically

Do SUSI reject people just on there online application, or do they ask everyone for documents and then decide? I mean, do they initially go through it and say yes or no and then sent the document request to students?

as for the Final Assessment Application awaiting assessment stage, is this just going through what i sent in and if its all ok they make a decision?

SUSI are currently reviewing my final course acceptance details. They've been reviewing since the 4th of July. How long does this part of the process normally take roughly? Will I hear back before September?

Anyone on SUSI tonight? It has locked on me, repeatedly telling me a section is mandatory when I have completed it. Just wasted the last 45 mins as I can't save it.

does anyone know what the story is with the bank details if you got the grant for a different course last year ?

when i try to enter my bank details like i was told by the susi package, it wont let me, saying they have already been entered and cannot be changed. does this mean they have my previous bank details from last years grant on system or have i done something wrong ?

I don't want to proceed as I can't change them apparently.

Do I just leave it empty? I was thinking of starting an account in the next few weeks, but I don't want to wait to fill it in!

You need to have a bank account so they can give you your grant (if you're getting a maintenance grant).

But really, I hear the average time to go to provisionally awarded is 10-12 weeks.

We can't say because every person is different but people who appllied on time are waiting between 10 and 15 weeks

Well I received an email to say they've got my application but basically its first up best dressed to the people who've applied before the deadline. When do you think I will be getting further documentation in the post ?

If you applied later than August 5th you could face having to wait until the November payment if you get a grant. However, I wasn't expecting any word from SUSI (since I only applied 19th August) until maybe the end of September (4 wks or so) but I got my request for documents last Friday.

So either they've almost processed everybody that applied early and can now sift through the stragglers, like me, or I am really lucky so far (touching wood, crossing everything etc....)

I'm not holding much hope for early payment but I do hope its a lot quicker than 16weeks for a decision either way and a lot quicker than last year!!

UPDATE: 16DAYS after initial online application and I'm at 'awaiting assessment' stage 4.....good sign or somethings going to happen as its too smooth??
