Just on this interesting subject, would anyone think there would be an interest to run a line / restore some old line from Belfast to Galway via Cavan, Mullingar, Athlone? or was there any line there originally? & why did it close??

Given that the IRRS is housed in IE property in heuston Station, to be fair to them it wouldn't be a good idea for them to slagg off IE. There are plenty others in the press and indivuiduals who will not be behind the door in pointing out any perceived faults of IE....

J Day's point re Athlone is very valid.
