So has Fabregas had this press conference yet ? If not what time??

Its a Barcelona press conference that Fabregas may appear at as far as I'm aware. We shall see later anyway.

is this press conference definitely on though or is it just rumors?

if it is and he is there, then i think one way or another, the Fabregas saga will end tonight.

If he's there it's only going one way. There's zero chance he's gonna say he's leaving at a club press conference before the club has even announced that a deal has been agreed with Utd.

Had a quick look and can't see confirmation anywhere (I might not be looking in the right places though!)

That's for sure! hopefully contingency plans will come into action then.

we have a squad full of these players already, we dont need any more of them. if we signed two world class midfielders, that the club has been missing for the last few years, i have every confidence that we would push for a CL semi final place at least this season. as it stands, we have failed to get past the last 16 in the last 2 seasons and this trend will continue unless we bring in the players needed.

squads win leagues, but when push came to shove and big games had to be won towards the end of the last 2 seasons, we were found wanting....big time.

I'm not talking about an Ashley Young or a really young player like Smalling, Jones.

I am talking about the Roy Keane, Dwight Yorke type signings. Proven in the premier league, with a genuine chance of walking into United's first choice team and performing to a very high standard immediately. The type of player who can compete with the best in the league and potential do it in Europe. I am thinking a Dembele from last summer or Fellaini in this summers window.

I mentioned it before and ill say it again we have more chance buying proven premier league players then major players abroad.

We have proved this many times and where wasting time trying to kid ourselves thinking we can bring in these fancy players from rival clubs.

Once someone gets there claws into them thats that end of.

Id rather see us go for Fellaini at this stage and stop wasting ****ing time with Barcalona.

the problem is, what local players are available who will improve our first 11?

players like Roy Keane and Yorke dont grow on trees either.

it looks like if Fabregas falls through (and that is looking likely unless something drastic happens), then our only option will be Fellani and while i rate him highly, i dont think he is the answer to our problem...he is the answer to one problem, but not our main one.

its a problem, that now at this stage, i dont think is going to be properly sorted in the next month. we have wasted pretty much the entire summer, i believe that now it could be too late to start all over again with players, who wont take too well to being 2nd or 3rd choice and last minute.

people keep saying we shouldnt rush things, but that is exacly whats going to happen now and i fear the problem wont be addressed properly at this stage, unless by some miracle Fabregas comes through.

He no longer plays in the English league once he went back to ''Them'' things where always bound to be arseways.

Meh Utd are damned if they do and damned if they don't. I'm sorry but its a ridiculous idea to only try to sign current premier league players.

Yeah. United should try to sign the best wherever they play, not just from the premier league.

But if really really good players can be got in the league even though they are not tagged world class it would be fine with me.

Whens the last time we signed a proven player from outside of the premier league ? Off the top of my head i cant think..... They where all either from this league or not yet proven players that others would of wanted also.

Dunno how he slipped my mind!.

I can think of other players but at the same time i wouldnt class them as proven players at the top level more players with potential etc.

We tend to lose out on the deals for these kinds of players they always go elsewhere.

But we were/are bidding on Fabregas based on his Arsenal career more so than his Barca career.

It's a bit of a defeatist attitude to say not to bother trying to sign top players outside of England because it usually doesn't work out.

Do people think we'll be challenging in Europe if Fellaini is our only signing?

Having a good chance of winning it with Fellaini being our only improvement?

    "Challenging" yes.

Winning it unless we do a Liverpool on it, no.

If he was still playing for Arsenal and never mentioned wanting to return to Barca we would clearly have a much better chance of buying him.

The players we have bought from europe over last few years have all been potential big players or players that where not at the time seen as world beaters.

Some of these players went on to be major players threw out the world.

My point is United rarely sign big name top players from outside of the Premier league because as soon as we make a move we either **** it up or there attracted by money or success elsewhere.

We'll always challenge in Europe with or without a cm but we dont have a chance of winning it

You see teams Barca, R. Madrid and Bayern strengthen while we stagnate. Its very frustrating. For a so called power house of soccer, its just not right

You would think with all the money United are suppose to have available to buy players it shouldn't be hard to get one top class attacking midfielder, but they are scarce and Bayern have really gone overboard on them.

Ive seen so many players mentioned just on here before that we could be looking into. Weather we are or not who knows but either way it seems our main efforts are going for the obvious out of reach targets.

Fellaini would be great buy, but we still so desperately need somebody who can take control in the middle of the field.

Fabregas can do that while offering a good presence with Carrick when defending.

I be happy with Fellaini no question, but Fabregas would offer us something little more that we need.

Buying both while long shot would be insane summer.
