And the semi final draw this year is leinster or qualifier v ulster or qualifier?

    Is that correct?

Delighted with the Mayo vs Donegal game, should be a monumental game. Massive game at this stage, and hopefully it'll be a stand alone, although I think 2 double headers are most likely with Dublin drawing Cork.

Kerry got the team they needed to get to reach the semi's, they wouldn't have beaten either of the other 3 imo. Tyrone will be happy too, Monaghan, while still a tough team to beat, are easily the worst of the provincial winners, but that game should be a war of attrition more so than anything else. And as for Dublin vs Cork, I can only see one winner here, Counihan is a dud and Dublin are as good as I've ever seen them.

Actually, just thinking about the draw, the GAA could easily do 2 stand-alone fixtures. I reckon Mayo vs Donegal would fetch ~50,000, while Dublin would nearly bring that with their own support alone. Kerry vs Cavan will draw the least support, while I expect Tyrone and Monaghan to bring sizeable numbers. The GAA could easily do 3 days to maximise ticket sales.

    Dublin/Cork vs Kerry/Cavan on 1st September, Monaghan/Tyrone vs Mayo/Donegal on 25th August.

    Cool thanks for clarifying

Monaghan v Tyrone; I do think we (Monaghan) can win it. It is probably the tightest to call in the recent history between the sides. Even in 2007 when we were tipped to beat tyrone it was more clearcut than this. We wont need a reason to be fired up for this and there is no reason we cannot win it, Donegal defeated Tyrone easily with a style of football we outplayed Donegal at. It will be tight but even as Ulster Champions I still think Tyrone will be favourites. I wish we got a team outside Ulster though (Cork)

Barney rock did the draw.. was hardly going to draw a hard match for his son to play in now was he ;)

No, he didn't. He drew the bowl of provincial winners, not who they got.

Shouldn't this ****e be in the conspiracy theory nuthouse?

Usually they film the draw too, so there will be pictures on the news or the Sunday game or the news.

Of course they could be 'fixed' etc etc etc foil hat theory etc.

Na they wouldn't sell out mayo Donegal and Tyrone v Monaghan not to mind having mayo alone. Pair them two games together or Cavan and Kerry and put one of those with Dublin cork. Shud fit them into two days

The two 4 pm game be the Dublin cork game and the mayo donegal game I'd say. Dubs probably on the Sunday. Unless of course they go for a 5 and 7 game on the Saturday which is a possibility

No, Jim Corr started a thread already, so I couldn't start one. ;)

I tell you, its a fix. I tell you it is, so it is.

They usually do alright and then 2pm and 4pm on Sunday. They shud have mayo and Kerry games Saturday and Tyrone Monaghan on with Dublin. Easier travelling for all counties that way

AFAIK Dublin had been already told they are getting Saturday night slot as stand alone fixture..

According to the GAA site the games to be played Saturday and Monday
    Date TBC - Saturday August 3rd/Monday August 5th, 2013

    http://www.gaa.ie/fixtures-and-results/national-fixtures/gaa-football-all-ireland-senior-championship/

It could of course mean between those dates!

When do they announce what games are on what day?

I agree, I'm just trying to look at it from the p.o.v. of the GAA, I think they could have 3 days of 50,000 people rather than 2 days of 60-70,000 people. It's for the benefit of the people that they do 2 days, but from a selfish p.o.v. I want 3 days, probably clutching at straws so I am!

I tell ya that black card can't come quick enough, horrible stuff, was the same in the Dub/Tyrone league match I think the whole Tyrone back line picked up yellows that night

Ah I know but I'd like 2 double headers on Saturday and Sunday,2 great days in croker.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 156 ✭✭scatman carruthers

Monday will be DUblins game no chance they'll have mayo Donegal on a Monday afternoon with work and travelling

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 3,249 ✭✭✭MaroonAndGreen

Makes sense to have 2 double headers:

    Mayo v Donegal
    Tyrone v Monaghan

    Kerry v Cavan
    Dublin v Cork

Makes more sense to put the two Munster teams on the same day, cant see them putting any game on a Monday

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,966 ✭✭✭Syferus

There won't be any Dublin only QF. Certainly not with Cork as the opposition.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,560 ✭✭✭Patser

Does it have to be Croker for the games? As a Dub I'd love a Trip to Tipp for the bank holiday weekend and hold the Dublin Cork game in Semple stadium.

Clones would suit Monaghan Tyrone perfectly, although I'd say Monaghan fans would love a day in Croker too. Mayo Donegal fans might also prefer Clones.

Can't see many Kerry fans travelling to Croker - Gaelic grounds an option or unfair on Cavan fans?

Dublin would be handier for a lot travelling from Mayo and to be honest Clones would only serve as an advantage for Donegal so Croke Park suits just grand.

Fair enough, was just thinking of distances. Didn't figure in road quality or perceived 'home' advantages. Just think this cram it all into Croker regardless of attendance looks poor on tv and can't be great for atmosphere. I mean a triple header today and less than 40k at it.

All matches are in croke park. It was said at the start of the draw

You could get 50000 for Donegal and Mayo alone I'd imagine.
