Well you my friend are living a very closed mind existence if you think that he just turned up one day at a farm and started to build a bomb for the craic without any other involvement in crime previously. Building bombs is not exactly a gateway crime.

I get the impression that you are set in your ways so i will bow out now.
I'm not your friend and I haven't got an iota what this nonsense phrase means "... living a very closed mind existence ...".

Please don't refer to me as your friend again in case other posters mistakenly identify me as just another composer of bigoted posts.

I'm relieved you didn't form the impression that I'm set in your ways.

I was going to put in brackets that you weren't an actual friend but I thought that you might have figured out for yourself that it is an expression (you didn't).

By closed minded existence I mean that you can't seem to see other views as anyway reasonable or even possible and that you will only ever be open to what you know now.

Also for your last swipe I am not in anyway suggesting that you shouldn't be entitled to your own opinion and that you have to agree with mine just as I am entitled to my opinion otherwise boards would be pretty boring.

And thanks for suggesting that I am a bigot, you must have ran out of rational things to say.

And I agree with you to a certain extent, that being that the family should be allowed to grieve privately and not have the media hound them etc(which I don't think is happening)

A mother will love her child and so will family no matter what they do to a certain extent and they do deserve the right to privacy. But if there is a risk of trouble at that funeral even if the family have requested otherwise it is the guards job to keep the peace, otherwise if there was trouble we would have a thread giving out about the guards not being there at a known dissidents funeral.

Yep, I agree again. I don't think it's their actual presence that's the problem, but it's the degree of intrusiveness, like standing too close etc.

A more prudent solution would be having the Garda presence to keep the peace but also having them maintain a respectful distance/demeanour at what is a very sad time for the family and close friends.

Did this guy Seamus McKenna not shoot someone at a funeral before, he accidentally shot his uncle at his dads grave side I believe.

Did you support the RUC intimidation of Republican funerals as well?
    They used the same excuse.
Suppose you're too young to remember those images.
Why aren't the riot squad visible at criminals and drug dealers funerals?

Why did the Gardai give a motorcade escort to Loyalist paramilitaries during the Queen visit?
Why did Kenny and Shatter invite Loyalist paramilitaries to share a platform with them during the Royal visit?

The actions and deeds of the State against Republicans have changed no a jot since the Treaty.
    Business as usual.

I take these posts are meant as jokes because nobody could them seriously.
You really need to put a a smiley after them lest any poor sould think they are for real.

In 2003 Seamus was found in possession of 1,200Lb bomb near Dundalk and sentenced to six years in Portlaoise Prison. I know he was very wrong in what he was doing and maybe the troubles in the north did not help the way he was thinking. The mc kenna family suffered a series of tragedies troughtout the Toubles

. In 1970 a 17-year-old Sean was interned without trial for threeyears. His father, Sean Senior, was one of 14 prisoners known as the"Hooded Men" who suffered torture treatment at the hands of theBritish Army during internment.Sean Senior died aged 42 inJune 1975 as a result of his of his injuries these are some of the things that was done to his father by the british army
    • in-depth interrogation with the use of hooding, white noise, sleep deprivation, prolonged enforced physical exercise together with a diet of bread and water.
    • Deceiving detainees into believing that they were to be thrown from high flyinghelicopters, in reality the blindfolded detainees were thrown from a helicopterthat hovered approximately 4 feet above the ground.
    • Forcing detainees to run an obstacle course over broken glass and rough ground whilst being beaten by British soldiers.
Seamus brother SeanMcKenna died in2008 at his home in Dundalk. Sean never fully recovered from his ordeal on thefirst H-Block hunger strike in 1980 which lasted for fifty three days

Gardai sent their own "masked men" to prevent other "masked men" from turning up.

Meanwhile another Republican funeral took place in Derry today.
Coffin was flanked by a guard of honour, PSNI stayed away, and it all passed off peacefully.

Nailing the lie that Gardai are needed at these funerals in the interest of public order.

This policy of kettling and surrounding mourners with masked Gardai and thugs in baseball caps is abysmal and will only embitter more people into joining the Ra.
    How ironic.
