Just opened a bottle of Sierra Nevada Bigfoot, not keen on it so far

Mother's milk...I love it, I tend to like barley wines in general though

M & S Greenwich Red Ale. It's brewed by Meantime and comes in a 750ml corked Champagne style bottle.

    Very smooth and quaffable beer.

Picked up a few Sunburnt Irish red, Innis & Gunn original, Sierra Nevada pale ale.

St bernardus 12, really liked it, still haven't found a better Belgian then westy 12 though. Also had a bottle of palm, definition of meh. My missus reckoned it just tasted watery

    :)

On further drinking its very similar to a less in your face 5am. Piny, resinous hops with a roasty sweet malty backbone. Very impressed with it. Think it was around the 7/8 euro mark. It's also included in their 6 for 5 offer, would make a nice gift for a beer lover.

At that price though you would be better off with meantime IPA which is a lovely brew imo

From what I can remember, I'm not a fan. Generally not a fan of their beers.

I didn't like Meantime's IPA either. Interesting to see M+S getting into the craft beer market

Widmer Brothers Nelson Imperial IPA, robust hop flavour & aroma with a malty sweetness & at 8.6% definately a sipper.

Had a few Sunburnt Irish red last evening. I was very impressed. Lovely colour, great head and very pleasant to the taste with no undesired after taste. Will try again.

    Secret des Moines Triple.

Very pleasant, if a little lacking spiciness/bite for a triple. Very close to Duvel in taste.

Trying some Five Lanps Craft Lager (to give it its full name) . Brewed in Dublin. Not bad at all.

Opened the first bottle of my latest batch of homebrew imperial stout, well pleased with it.

Looks nice but thats a really annoying photo to look at on a phone. Stupid auto-rotation

Sorry about that, photo uploaded from my phone on the touch site, my laptops dead.
Tasty beer though, tastes of chocolate, hint of coffee and nice flavours from Jameson and oak chips. I was planning on saving it for Christmas but that's a long time away...

I see we're still talking about black drinks! Which is good, because I finally got around to trying the Nøgne Ø Porter. Pours lovely, very smooth, pleasant aroma. Reminded me a lot of a Franciscan Well's coffee stout (from the keg).

I know it's 7% ABV, but the alcohol content is nice and subtle. Very nice. Shame it's €7.00 a bottle. The favourite stout/porter experiment continues. As far as bottles go, 8 Degrees Knockmealdown Porter is ahead of Leann Folláin by a nose.

Comeragh Challenger - very yeasty, like Helvick Gold. Wouldn't be a great fan of the beer or, indeed, any of Dungarvan's offerings. I've found it to be a very inconsistent product.

Should have White Gypsy Ruby Ale. Be sure to ask for a Metalman anyway though. ;)

They'd Ruby Ale alright. Nice enough. I'm not a huge fan of red ales but was nice to have an option that wasn't the usual Diageo thrash

Delerium Tremens - hints of apricot. I do love my branded glass though. Pink elephants all the way.

Was in O'Connells for a beer last night and was surprised to see they had a few of the Kona bottles in stock, had a bottle of Fire Rock.
It's a solid APA, not the best pale ale I've ever drank but for €4.70 it wasn't bad and a damned site better than the rest of the muck they stock.

You can also get Meantime 'Greenwich Hospital Porter' in M&S. It's barrel aged in Islay whiskey barrels and the wood and whiskey come across very strongly. Very interesting, well worth a try. They had it included as part of their Dine in for two deal a few weeks ago, so worth keeping an eye open for when they do this again.

Mad River's Steelhead Extra Pale Ale, not bad at all. It has an after taste that reminds me of honey.

Had a bottle of the Belgian Guiness special Export (8% alc) there last night.
Jeepers was it bitter. Far too bitter. Cant really describe the rest of what It tasted like aside from that it was like a really bitter pint of Guinness. The high percentage alcohol wasnt noticable at all to be honest.

Thankfully only got 2 bottles so only have to suffer the other one, probably whenever I have some guinness lovers over to visit.

    Belgium of all places!

Was driving through there last week. A normal bog standard Carrefour had it.
Was still 1.75 for a 300ml bottle and 10c deposit on top of that again.
