Here's a thought. If an installer gets reliable 7w reception, (big expensive dish) use a fibre optic lnb and distribute it to every pub and footy mad home in the area for a nice profit.....(tongue firmly in cheek, before I get lynched);)

What's the chances of getting a signal though? I have plenty of space around me. I could/would build a Xfeet high base/wall to mount a very large dish if I thought we'd have any chance of getting a reliable signal all of the time!

Not sure I'd run to all the pubs in the land though!

    No, just local to you....

    http://www.dishpointer.com/

Dishpointer has a section that allows you to check which satellites are available and the minimum recommended dish size for any location.

If jsc epl goes onto eutelsat 7.3 west which id say is very unlikely a gibertini 1.5m dish should do it reliably up to dublin but if they insist it goes onto nilesat 201 id say u wont have much of a chance there could be another posibility of pulling in badr 5 and 6 at 26 east with a 3 metre dish which jsc epl will most certainly be broadcast on though u have to consider how poor the tuners in the paired recievers will be which will bring up the dish size required if ad sports hd is anything to go by

Indeed, the very reason they will be doing this.

I can just about recieve jsc 1 and 2 fta from 7.3 west on a triax td 1.1 with black ultra in dublin but its not strong and it took a lot of tweaking to get it id say a channel master or gibertini 1.2 m dish would give a good signal I dont get any nilesat at all I heard there is a hotbird satellite been moved to 8 west for the mena region so it will be interesting to see how far out of footprint reception extends and if jsc epl goes onto it

How much was that dish. I know they are pretty costly.
Edit: I just saw the price. I think I don't need to spend that much on a satellite dish anytime during my life! €2700!!
This page has some pricey kit.....http://www.satellitesuperstore.com/dishes-motors2.htm
    Is football that good?

I didn't pay anything like that for it - got it for 400 a while back (second hand at the time but in perfect nick)

Was a job to get it home...

Don't use it for football - I like OSN News (formerly orbit news).

I think dish technology is gonna start declining now though...

The signal has got to be strong though - the osn decoder tuner is rubbish

I gave you all the information about my reception of 7 West before, post #21 here.

    http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?p=81884247

There are hundreds of channels you can look them up on Lyngsat or similar. I am not getting anything at present and I doubt if you will even with a 2 metre dish.

Do you think customs would spot it?
