Running a heavy overclock? The VaporX keeps the core cool, even in these high ambients I'm surprised it was loud. What temperature is the core reaching?

Hmmm. Non OCed the VaporX cooling is plenty quiet. Are you sure it's your graphics card? If so can you check the temps under load? Tu the heaven or valley benchmark. You might be able to fix it by setting a custom fan curve.

What do you reckon I could get for my GTX590? Thinking about getting a 770...

Yea it's never happened before but something was screaming very loudly maybe it was the CPU fan? crysis everything set to very high and there's no lag.

So I'm at a loss... But it was only last night and the computer had been on most of the day at that point?

Run a benchmark. Heaven/Valley will dress your GPU and rule that out/in.

Lads, my sister gave me her laptop to "fix".. I quote, "I don't know why but all of a sudden it's gone really slow". I've just ran CCleaner and found 10,000mb of ****e. Any other programs I should consider giving it a clean up with?

Disable as many startup programmes if you can in CCleaner. Having low memory and many background programmes causes the system to start swapping progs out of memory and into the HDD, which causes major slowdowns.

    Also defrag the HDD.

I found nearly 80GB with ccleaner on a computer a few weeks ago.

I'd uninstall any junk as well. Watch out for browser bars, additional antivirus software and other stuff that gets installed if you're not careful unticking those boxes when you install various updates and programs.

    EIGHTY!? How is that possible??

TBH, I'd say most of it was his recycle bin, ccleaner picks that up too.

No, nothing in the recycle bin. It was all under windows temporary files. I know with older versions of windows (i.e., XP) it used to save a lot of copies of zip files, I remember that taking a lot of space for me one time. I don't know if it's the same in W7. I had originally thought that it was Adobe cache stealing the space but it wasn't that. Could be leftover files from updates. I didn't investigate it much beyond that. It made a huge difference since it was an SSD. No idea how that much temporary files could be generated. I'll look at it again in a few months.

Do you view any large dumps of images? If you had a lot of thumbs it might do it. But windows really shouldnt have built up that much. Or chrome's stupid white space bugs in its databases.

The girlfriend was having problems with her search provider the other day, remoted in to have a look, six Adware toolbars installed. And I only checked it two or three months ago. *sigh*

That's the nice thing about my girlfriend: She's worked in HP tech support before, so she heard daily all the things not to do. :P (Still refuses to use Chrome though)

I avoided looking at Mozilla, I know for a fact she has loads of adware crap. Just stuck to Chrome when I needed.

It's not my computer, but yeah, he does work with images a bit alright - more editing though rather than a lot of files. I would have assumed that he would be a fairly light user though. It's a bit strange, but I was in a hurry just needed to quickly solve the problem.

Sure half of those things are probably a security risk. Keyloggers and the like looking for bank accounts and interesting passwords.

BTW, Opera Browser is where it's at! :D

Prodigy build is now leak testing (thank fúck). Haven't decided whether I'm going to use it this evening, or just leave it running over night instead.

You know how those WC Prodigy build logs make it look like the Prodigy has a bunch of room inside, and isn't really that cramped (in comparison to something like an FT03 Mini)? It is. NB for all future WC SFF projects: 3/8-5/8 tubing. 1/2-3/4 just isn't flexible enough for half the bends needed.

Will upload pictures later on, and temps whenever I decide to start using it.

Back with my computer, this time in a Prodigy. This is a picture from when the system was leak testing, since then, I've added my 3.5" drive standing up next to the pump, my SSD jammed in wherever it would fit, and sound-proofed side panels.

Running Prime at the moment, 4.5GHz at 1.288V, 84°C max. That's with 360mm of slim rad, and four 700RPM GTs.
